The Besom:
The broom is an ancient tool that does have magical roots, like a lot of what some may call “necessary appliances.” The Besom broom is the most common one associated with witches/witchcraft and it is the oldest type of broom that is known.
How do you get one? Is it something that needs to be passed down? The answer may shock you, but you can make your own. And then, if you wanted to; you could make it something to be passed down.
The key elements to a Besom broom is a handle, twine/string, and bristles.
Depending on the size of your space, or what you want to use it for; try to gauge how big you want the handle to be first. This will then lead into how long the bristles should be, and how much twine/string you’d need.
I’d like my Besom to cleanse my countertop before and after I cook/bake. So mine will be a little on the smaller side. I gathered pine needles to be my bristles, and I found a small but usable stick/twig/branch that was beneath an oak tree. The key to the handle is that you don’t want something flimsy. The thicker the better (take that as you will), and remember, you can go back outside if needed.
Assembly of the Besom can be a little tricky, but! It’s entirely doable. What I like to do is tie the twine around some of the bristles somewhat loosely, and then put the handle inside the bristles. If I feel fancy/up to it, I’ll add more bristles to fill it out.
To make sure everything is secured, tighten the original piece of twine and then tie another piece around what you just did tightly!
And then you should have a besom. Put as many or as few bristles on it as you want.
I’m currently out and about, but I will add pictures of mine shortly!

Kitchen Magic Tools:
Apron: A kitchen witch’s ritual garment.
*Besom: Symbolically sweep away unnecessary energy and cleanse your magical space. Also, a regular broom is necessary too to keep the kitchen clean.
Cauldron: Symbolizes abundance, knowledge, wisdom, transformation, rebirth, home and hearth; since this is one of the types of vehicles that will help us in providing nourishment to ourselves or others.
Chalice: Can be a favorite wineglass or teacup; this should be used for sipping potions, offering blessings, and/or divining the future. Try not to use this for anything/anyone else; as this is yours.
Cookbooks/journal: Use these to keep recipes and memories alive and well, you can document the preferred serving time/season of the dish, any alterations that you want to try or have already tried, if you enjoy the original flavor…
Fork: Symbolic of the food that you prepare intentionally to nourish the body and energies within.
Knife: Can be used as a physical representation of cutting away/off unnecessary energies, unwanted energies/feelings, or even people.
Mortar and pestle: Is another great symbol of transformation and/or healing.
Spoon: Can symbolize what we want and/or the element of Air.
How the elements work in kitchen magic:
Air: Works by helping our gardens to breathe and prepare food (think of an air fryer, refrigerator, or freezer).
Earth: Pretty self explanatory, but all the herbs, flowers, animals, etc. need the earth to be here.
Fire: Symbolizes transformation, and ignites the magic of the home/hearth. Can also bring people together on a cold night.
Water: Use this to cleanse, cook, hydrate, soothe and give life.

Hello; How’re you doing?
I’m Aidana, I identify myself as an eclectic witch, with no real “loyalty” to one specific type of practice. All that is consistent with my craft is that there is food and drink involved.
I’m always here to answer questions, and if you have any information for me; please share it. I love to learn whenever I can, about anything.
Just so we’re all on the same page; I am 21 years old, so please keep that in mind. My blog is a safe space for all who need it.
My blog is not a safe space for Nazis, Racists, those who support Trump, and the like.
My favorite thing to say is this;
You will get what you give; because I fucking said so.
Have a good day.
