ARISE

The oft-mentioned 'Hero': back when I wrote this post, I hadn't yet decided what they would be like, or what their name would be. But as you can see, that's all sorted out now. ^^

Like many of the JPG characters, Arise is an alien, but one a bit more special than the rest: they are the 'good' counterpart of the cosmic deity Void Termina, connected to them in body and mind. If Void is weakened, they are weakened; if Void grows stronger, they grow stronger in turn, and vice versa. And wherever in the universe Void decides to go, Arise will manifest sooner or later. Which is how they came to be the protector of Dreamville.

Oddly enough, Void Termina was inactive during their brief career as a hero; Arise spent most of their time dealing with the League of Evil. And of course, the League was hardly a match for them, leaving them free to form "friendships" with many of its members, some of them nearly genuine. Gear Master in particular was one of Arise's favorite sparring partners-- although neither of them would admit it, they both enjoyed the challenge of facing each other (i.e. Arise would never admit it was a challenge, and GM would never admit it was enjoyable). ^^;

Susie Haltmann, on the other hand, was someone Arise considered a true friend, maybe even their best friend in the world. At the time, she was merely her father's secretary, and secretly disagreed with the Haltmann Work's Co.'s evildoing...so she claimed. Arise believed this, and vowed to put an end to the company so that Susie wouldn't be forced to work there anymore...someday, when they got around to it...

Eventually Susie inherited the company, and promised Arise that things were going to change under her direction-- the HWC would leave the League, and invest its resources in Dreamville to make up for the damage they had done (which was technically true...). Arise believed this as well-- in fact, they felt this was the best possible outcome, and couldn't have been happier to begin protecting the city alongside their friend.

Susie asked for their help with a special project, and they immediately agreed...and they haven't been seen since.
