If you have not allready seen, I am Iris, an adventurer in charge of reporting my findings of dimension 111 (the realm of the supernatural) back to our reality. Although I have made some entries to my grimoire, I wanted to know if anyone reading had some requests to make of me in terms of new entries. Witches

Background-

witches are people with special blood, born into magic, who can make potions and cast spells

these beings are chosen in favor with nature, similar to faeries, and gifted their power

unlike vampires and wolves, who don't get along even though they both get their power from the moon, faeries and witches get along well, commonly trading favors for potions or charms

they can range from simple potion makers, to witches strong enough to raise the dead

Society, Values, Etc-

born into a family coven, but witches can choose to leave or start their own coven once the reach the age of 19

they learn most of their skills from their family coven, such as herb identification or philtre brewing

family covens will come together once a member comes of age (19) and celebrate with a party, leaving good luck charms, protection runes, and helpful potions in the witches new home

known to be very good cooks due to their potion making, as the skills transfer easily

although some witches adopt familiars, it is not required, and many witches do not go searching for one, but wait for a familiar to walk in their path at the right time, as they believe choosing one's own familiar is messing with the timing nature intended

most witches are skilled healers, and will trade a health tisane or healing charm for a favor

some witches are born with the ability to read the spirit of aura of someone, and can tell if they are ill, in emotional pain, etc

these witches make the best healers, as they can pinpoint exactly the ache or pain

they can also see if a magic user has been in contact with or used dark magic, like curses or poisons

if a magic user has used or uses dark magic as a part of their craft, the chances of them becoming corrupted by the magic is high, and it is almost unheard of for a witch to be fine after casting a curse or brewing a poison

Abilities and Weaknesses-

spellcasting- all witches have the ability to cast spells, charms, hexes, etc, but not all can master spellcasting as a whole

potion making- from salves to elixirs to tisanes, witches can brew potions using herbs and oils to help heal, grow, and sooth

elemental manipulation- most witches are blessed by nature, and can manipulate one or more aspects of nature, like fire or plants (although witches normally carry an affinity for a certain aspect)

necromancy- considered a darker magic, those born with the gift can raise the dead, interact with them, and even raise them for a familiar

rune casting- casting runes is a type of spell that each witch is naturally in tune to, and plays a major part in protection, as well as the subject of much research, as witches work to create new runes

scrying- using water bowls, mirrors, or another item, they can read into the past or present, and some talented witches can even see the future

rusted metal- specifically iron, can be used to harm a witch, or if the witch is wearing a bracelet of rusted iron, will stop a witch from using her magic

Sirens

Background-

sirens are human-like creatures with scaled tails, who live primarily in oceans underwater

sirens have the ability to lure people with their song, and tap into the water around them

often mistaken with mermaids, who are commonly the more friendly, impish creature when compared to the more mysterious siren

Society, Values, Etc

there are multiple colonies of sirens, each with their own traditions and styles

colonies are known for being very close knit, and most share everything as a part of a community, including the bringing up of children

if a siren child's parents die, a siren close to their parents will adopt the child as their own

siren society is also known for being a more matriarchal one, although all genders tend to share in the hunting, leading, etc

there is a type of dance sirens do, sometimes accompanied by a song for healing or luck, which uses a sirens' hand and tail to show graceful, fluid movements

stories are also told through song, in language only the elder sirens speak commonly

this language is now only really used for stories and in times of great seriousness, like the exile of a member, and sounds similar to that of a dolphin or whale whistle

Abilities and Weaknesses-

siren song- sirens can use their song to lure people to them, or compel the victim into doing something

healing- some sirens call also use their song in other ways, healing being the focus of the select few able to produce the right frequency

transformation- sirens are able to shift their tails into human legs at will, unlike mermaids, who cannot control their transformation when they touch water

water- similar to blood for vampires, water can strengthen a siren, or cause them great weakness if they have been away from it for too long. dehydration can be remedied for s short time by drinking water, but sooner or later a siren must return to an ocean

Werewolves

Background-

werewolves are human-like creatures that carry the ability to shift into a wolf, due to the moons power within them

some call it a curse, other a blessing

although most werewolf unwillingly transform on the night of a full moon, some are able to control their transformations

they are similar to vampires, in that their power both comes from the moon, however they do not get along, although no reason ca be found

Society, Values, Etc-

full moons are a big event in werewolf packs, and a festival is normally held on the days of a new moon, to signify a new beginning

most wolves are able to attend

the moon actually affects their day to day life as well, as certain times of the month of said to be be certain events or tasks

for example, most will celebrate with a festival each full moon, and prepare to begin another moon cycle

there is not pre-determined hierarchy in werewolf packs, however there are a few in each that seem to command the respect of their fellow members

vampires and werewolves have had a rivalry for as long as anyone knows, although a reason has yet to be found

each member of a pack has a certain role in the group, whether its leader, hunter, or a different “job”

Abilities and Weaknesses-

superhuman strength- they are stronger than the ordinary human, on par with vampires, as the moon's power is with them even when they are not in the wolf form

superhuman speed, durability, agility- see above for more information

shapeshifting- they can shift into a wolf form, either willingly or forcibly (cause of moon)

telepathy- packs can communicate with each other via a mind "link", where they can share feelings with the other members in their pack, like joy or distress

wolfsbane- an herb that severely weakens them, causing burns and fevers to the area touched by the herb, and if ingested, could poison them (although some werewolves are known to ingest small bits of wolfsbane in order to lessen its sting in larger amounts and build a temperance)

Vampires

Background-

vampires are beings that need blood to survive, and each one has their own unique ability

blood to a vampire is essential, although they can also eat human food

without blood, they slowly begin to weaken, and with blood, they grow stronger in their abilities than pre-feeding

blood smells and tastes differently to vampires depending on the species of blood (human, fairy, werewolf, etc)

vampires can be natural-born, or turned into a vampire via biting

Society, Values, Etc-

they are more solitary creatures than other supernatural beings on this list, however some vampires prefer to be in groups

they eat regular food, although most carry sensitivities to garlic (like a mild allergy)

if they do live in groups, its called a clan

to a vampire, feeding from a single person multiple times is a sign of commitment

there are also multiple types of vampires, including those who prefer to feed using animals, and those who feed relentlessly

Abilities and Weaknesses-

blood- this is considered both a weakness and a strength, as it keeps them healthy and strong, but they can quickly lose control if they are an underdeveloped vampire

fangs- used to puncture veins to get blood, they can also act as a way to get venom into their victims bodies (see below)

durability/agility: even without drinking fresh blood, these creatures have been known to be incredibly fast, strong, and agile

special abilities- each vampire has own, that they either have from birth, or get once they are turned, and can range from telepathy to pyrokinesis

venom- there are different types depending on what the vampire wants to inject into the person the are feeding from, including the type to turn humans into vampires, and these venoms can be turned into powerful potions if harvested correctly

vervain- a powerful herb that is tricky to grow, but causes weakness to vampires when around them, and even death if ingested

Types of Potions

Elixir-

an alchohol and water based potion

purest type of potion

used mainly for more delicate potions due to its sensitive form, but can be very powerful

examples include the elixir of life, elixir de malum, and the rose elixir (suble beauty)

Philtre-

a water based potion

used to arouse feelings in the drinker, such as love or sorrow

another type of potion that is made using delicate ingredients and intricate steps

examples include philtre of conordia, and the inhio philtre

Tincture-

can be made with various bases, but alchohol is the most common

this potion is where key ingredients are diluted into the base liquid, resulting in a highly concentrated potion

best results come if you take it soon after its finished

not for external use, as it could harm the skin due to its nature

takes a while to make, as while the ingredients are not as tedious, the diluting process is delicate

examples include tears of sol, dormiens tincture, and the scrying tincture

Tisane-

a type of extract, made specifically from hot water and herbs

mainly used for medicine or health

these are easy potions to make

often taught first to young witches due to its simple nature

some witches make a basil tisane for immunity boosts, and other examples include a lavender tisnane and a ginger tisane

Decoction-

a water/alcohol based potion

similar to a tincture, but further reduced after to form a highly concentrated potion

water needs to be reduces from potion for it to work

keeps for a few years before going bad

examples include the wolfsbane decoction,

Syropp-

a sugary syrup based potion

often made with sturdy ingredients, and can keep for as long as desired

used for luck and positive uses

examples include syropp of honey, and the fortune syropp

Infusion-

a commonly water based potion

ingredients of delicate and sturdy variety are infused in the water of the potion

ingredients can then be taken out of left in, according to the specific potions instructions

can be drunken or used for its steam as an inhalation

also can be bottled and used as a spray

examples include a herbal infusion of lavender and mugwort for prophetic dreams, which is both sprayed and inhaled via steam

Vinegar-

a vinegar based potion

due to its sour nature, most potions of this kind have negative uses

commonly drunken, but can be sprayed

various magical poisons are vinegar based, as it hides the ingredients from taste

Macerate-

similar to a tisane, but uses cold water instead of hot water

more sensitive to temperature, so most are kept in blue and green glass vials

stronger ingredients can be used, making it slightly more difficult to render than tisanes

the poppy macerate is a well known potion, for its sleeping draught-like properties

Lotion-

a butter/oil based potion

often confused with a salve, although lotions are more liquid and have different properties

only for external use

examples include vervain lotion, and wolfsbane lotion (both for keeping away vampires and wolfs)

Salve-

an oil based potion

made like a lotion, but different steps

can be used to heal or protect, but other uses have been recorded

only for external use

examples include the burn salve, and salve of the spring (for external hydration)

Poison-

a water, acid or vinegar based potion

made by using the base, a sharp or rusted object, and sometimes a personal item of the victim's

most poisons are considered to be dark magic, a magic that has a high chance of corrupting the maker/user

an example of a poison would be the draught of the living death

hello traveler,

i regret to inform you that i have not been able to document my expeditions to the new universe yet. although the trips so far have been nothing short of exhilarating, i regretfully have not been able to find time to write about my adventures, as i currently find my time being consumed by a mix of researching for my grimoire, and making sure me and my associates stay alive long enough to do so. if you would like, I would encourage you to visit my grimoire for information regarding the new universe. i hope the information i put in there will be enough for now, both to help you understand the terms and creatures you will read in the documentations of my own adventures, and to assist you on your own.

Faeries

Background-

nature spirits, often confused with nymphs or pixies

works with other faeries to heal the world around them and guard the vast secrets of nature

faeries are often called fae for short

each faerie has their own pair of wings, as unique to them as their fingerprints

Society, Values, Etc-

although their power and wings are given by nature, the Faerie Courte is responsible for upholding Fae Law

their responsibility and loyalties lie with nature

faeries enjoy their celebrations, and festivals are held oftentimes for even the smallest of reasons

because of this, faeries are known as a grand and lavish group, and some of their festivals are said to be one of the greatest events one could possibly attend

faerie houses are equally as grand, with many ornate details and beautiful trinkets collected from a faeries time spent in nature

gardens are an essential of faerie life, as much of what the use comes from the earth, and the fae start teaching this skill early on to the young fae

although faeries do like the material things in life, most of their food, possessions, even their homes, come from what's found in nature

butterflies- they hold a place in faerie society, as not only do they symbolize transformation and growth, but are used by fae as love notes, where one faerie will send a rose-coloured butterfly (to show their hopes of a blooming relationship) to their love interest as a symbol of affection, and then again to propose, but with a purple-hued butterfly (to show the strength of their relationship)

according to fae lore, the faerie loves inviting people to tea or parties, and holds natural dominion over those who violate the "rules" of hospitality

Abilities and Weaknesses-

flight- they can use their wings to fly, and tuck them into their backs when not in use

nature manipulation- while not to the extent of witches or nymphs, they can bend certain or all elements, depending on skill level

sensitive to energies- although this is not a huge power, faeries are known to be sensitive to the moods and auras of those around them, and the more skilled can even receive vague predictions of the people around them

healing- fae have a natural affinity for healing, whether it be the nature around them or the people and creatures they happen to meet

gardening- they start to learn about different plants early on in life, and most faeries are known to be expert survivalists and gardeners, due to their knowledge on plant life

magical gardening- because of their magical nature, faeries can grow some plants into having magical properties, and because of that, faerie gardens are highly sought after by black market dealers

extreme temperatures- a known weakness of faeries, they grow weak in extreme cases of hot or cold (although this won't kill a faerie, it would be enough to significantly weaken them)

iron- weakens and disarms a faerie from using their magic, including their wings, leaving them open and vulnerable, and may cause burns if kept on too long (although in some cases, faeries have been able to train themselves to handle small amounts of iron)

welcome traveler~

i am iris, a traveler and research expert, working on documenting my experience in the new universe. here, you will find my grimoire, with all of my research, and my storybook, where i keep a record of my adventures in the new universe.

eventually, you will also be able to travel to the new universe, but as of right now, i still need to work out the details, as universal travel isn't for everyone.

for those who are unaware, dimension 111 , or as i like to call it, the new universe, is a place where the supernatural are more common than you realize, and magic takes the form of more than what you see on television. there are many differences they have in their universe compared to ours, however, there still exists are divide between the good, evil, and the neutral. our hope is to better understand and explore this new universe, and maybe we will find the answers we are looking for, in the most unexpected of places.

i have been amongst vampires, merpeople, cursed pirates, a pack of werewolves, and more. and now, i am preparing you to travel to this universe, so be diligent, and you will get the call soon.
