I started driving lessons at BBDC!
After alot of reading, I decided to enrol online at Bukit Batok Driving Centre (BBDC).
Initially I wanted to go down to the centre to avoid the $3 online enrollment fee, but in the end I enrolled online first because you can book your theory lessons right away.
There are some changes from my experience regarding the booking system:
- you can block book as many times in a week as you want, so long as the total number of block booked practical sessions are 23 and below. They encourage you to block book 23 practicals in advance as the schedule is packed.
When I finally got to practical booking (26 August 2020), the next set of available slots was in January 2021.
But fret not, if you don’t mind the hassle of checking the system for any open slots every morning 8.30 - 9.30 am, those where people cancelled last minute under ‘try-sell’, or cancelled in advance, you can pick those up. But most of them could be on the peak timeslots (those that are not 1, 4, 6). If you have alot of time and aren’t working, pick the non-peak timeslots to save money, as the difference is $9!

Here’s for you Sakura lovers out there.
One of my delights about in living in Japan is being able to cycle and explore beautiful places where nobody tells tourists about.
We took a train to Kashiwa no Ha Campus on Tsukuba Express and rented bicycles for 300JPY/day (Return before closing hours 18:30) at the Rental bicycle center near the station and cycled 40 minutes to Akebonoyama Park.
Akebonoyama Park has Dutch and Japanese-themed gardens plus an Agricultural garden where families love to bring their children on seasons like these.
Visit Toukaiji just beside it. It reminded me of Nikko Toshogu. See, you don’t necessarily have to travel all the way down to Tokyo or Nikko to enjoy fantastic sights!
For the evening we cycled to Kashiwa no Ha Park, 20minutes away from Kashiwa no Ha Campus station.
Other things we saw were golden fields of flowers, a willow sakura tree with fluffy stray cats. There was a Bread festival at Kashiwa no Ha T-site in the daytime too. T-site is a fantastic place to sit down and have coffee and for book lovers. It has a lake outside the mall which is lit up in the evening. The second level is a children’s area with free gorgeous picture books that children can freely browse. You can also taste and buy Japanese foods and sweets in their store on 1F. There’s also a Starbucks inside T-site.
We ended the day by having our dinner at the foodcourt at Lalaport which is right beside Kashiwa no Ha campus station. :)

For the amazing, failure is no fear They hunt it down, they grasp its ear And ride it bravely through the dark With fire in eyes and primal bark And spur it to jump higher walls And accept, consistent, painful falls
But know that sets of brushed down clothes Raise them higher above all those That never tried to jump at all Those people who find their destined fall In jobs they didn’t want at all And hope to find an out at a midnight ball
While, elsewhere, the failures brave and true, Attempt more than is easy to do And prosper and, critically, have fun And realise that life isn’t won It’s a game played on an endless board And played by all of humanity’s hoard
A game of difficulty where you’re the piece That shuffles slowly til deceased Where winning is a terrible lie Told by those who just get by And pray in the churches of lotteries And x-factor heroes and flat-screen tv’s
Because success is not a letter It’s not money, or exams, it’s being better And better still and never content With anything on which your effort is spent It’s reaching far beyond your reach It’s the willingness to teach Yourself the things you want to know It’s a constant burning desire to go Beyond what’s in the range of your hand To go where things aren’t planned
Because you are flicking unmade switches Instead of passing out in ditches Because you bothered, because you care Beyond simply what you’re going to wear Or what you look like, what looks good The things you like because you should
Pursue everything you want whatever it may be And then the naysayers will see That everything you have done Is beautiful.
