Summary: A modern retelling of the Hades and Persephone myth.

Y/N was getting tired of this. Once again, she was tied up to a chair, blindfolded in God knows where or by whom. She wasn't totally surprised. With Hyungwon's line of work, her life would always be in danger, she just didn't expect it to be so soon and she certainly didn't know about any enemies Hyungwon had. She knew one thing for sure: for the first time she was actually wishing to be back home with Hyungwon. At least he would never hurt her, who knows if she'd even make it out alive.

The sound of a door opening startled her. She heard footsteps approaching her, walking around her as if they were scanning her like some type of merchandise.

"You're awfully quiet, but then again you always were."

That voice...... It sounded so familiar. She was positive she'd heard that voice somewhere.

"Ahh you recognize my voice don't you? Here let me enlighten you a bit."

The blind was taken off and she could perfectly see who her new kidnapper was.

"Manager Kim?" Out of all people, she could never have guessed her old boss would be standing in front of her.

"Oh good, you remember me." He smirked down at her.

"But how? Why?" Y/N asked.

"How I did it is of no consequence, your tiny little brain wouldn't even comprehend it. Why? Simple: money."

Y/N rolled her eyes at that. The oldest reason in the book.

"Let me guess, you're going to hold me for ransom."

"You're actually a lot smarter than what I thought you were." He told her.

"Asshole." She huffed at him.

He furrowed his eyes at her. "Maybe not so smart. If I were you, I'd watch your little mouth. I'm pretty sure neither you nor that husband of yours would want you back with some missing limbs."

"How did you even know about that?" She questioned him.

"It's a very small town Y/N. Everyone finds out every thing. It wasn't hard for any idiot to see Chae Hyungwon was taken by you and that's why he warned everyone to stay away from you. You may not know this...... But I actually knew when he was going to kidnap you, in fact I was watching it unfold." He confessed.

Y/N's fists balled up in anger.

"And you just let it happen?"

"What else could I hold over that fool's head if I didn't let him take you? Now that I have you, he'll have to give me anything I want." He explained.

Y/N scoffed at how stupid it all sounded.

"You underestimate me?" He raised an eyebrow at her.

"You overestimate yourself. Like you said, Hyungwon is taken by me. Do you really think he won't find you and make you pay for taking his wife?" She fired back at him.

Y/N could see his face growing red and in the blink of an eye, she felt his fist collide with her left cheek. Not even a second after, she felt another blow on her lip. She could taste blood dripping from what she now felt was a busted lip.

Taking out a knife from his pocket, he held it across her neck.

"I could just end it right now you know? It only takes one slip across your throat...." He warned her.

Y/N just stared at him blankly, she was not about to let him know how scared she felt.

He chuckled softly before dragging the knife down to her chest.

"But that's no fun... I have a better idea."

He proceeded to tear her shirt open, exposing her bra and most of her chest. Y/N began to breathe heavily.

"I hope your husband won't mind you ending up with a few scars. And if he does, oh well. He could just trade you in with another whore." He laughed evilly.

Before he could even do anything, Y/N heard the sound of a gun shooting and the next thing she knew her boss was on the floor clutching his leg.

"I do mind actually."

Y/N felt so relieved when she saw Hyungwon march in the room, he looked absolutely livid.

Hyungwon rolled manager Kim over so he could look at his face.

"And don't you ever call my wife a whore."

Hyungwon aimed his gun at the villain, but first looked at Y/N.

"Close your eyes baby girl." He ordered her.

Y/N quickly shut her eyes and soon heard another gun shot being fired. She felt Hyungwon come near her and start untying her. Getting her feet and hands untied, he cupped her face and examined the damage done.

"I'm so sorry. I promise I won't ever let this happen again." He told her.

Y/N felt a jacket being thrown across her before she was lifted off the chair and carried out.

"You can open your eyes now." Hyungwon told her.

Opening her eyes, she saw a car waiting outside. She looked around and saw that they were in some isolated place deep in a forest. Hyungwon gently put her inside the car before getting in himself.

"Take us back home." He told the driver.

Y/N looked out the window before looking at Hyungwon.

"How did you know?" Y/N asked him.

Hyungwon smiled proudly. "Devil works hard but Changkyun works harder. He's the one who figured out the security was hacked and where you'd be. I'm really grateful to him."

For the rest of the ride home, both just stayed quiet, trying to get over the shock of what just happened.

When they got back, Hyungwon insisted that he carry Y/N back to her room and insisted even more to treat the wounds on her face. So there he was, gently cleaning up the little blood on Y/N's cheek and lip before applying a little soothing balm on them.

Y/N was rather flustered. She didn't know what to make of this. Hyungwon being gentle, caring,....... almost loving........ It made no sense.

"What are you thinking?" He asked her.

He definitely was one hell of a mind reader though.

"Nothing just........ I didn't think you'd come for me...." Y/N confessed.

Hyungwon stopped what he was doing and looked at her.

"Why would I not?" He raised an eyebrow.

"I don't know.... I just didn't think you'd care since you're....." Y/N mumbled, not even sure about what to say.

Hyungwon sighed softly.

"I'm a criminal, a murderer and I have a temper, I'll admit that......"

Y/N chuckled softly. "I won't deny the temper part.

Hyungwon smiled lightly before taking Y/N's hands in his own.

"I know the circumstances as to why you're here aren't the best........ But I do care about you Y/N. I care about you a lot. If only you could see how much I....."

Hyungwon stopped himself, afraid to finish his sentence.

"Anyway it's late and I'm sure you're still shaken up by the events of today. I'll leave you alone so you can rest."

Getting up Hyungwon was about to walk away, but Y/N grabbed his arm.

"Wait! Could you....?"

Hyungwon waited for her to finish. "Could I?"

Y/N looked at the floor and muttered.

"Could you stay with me tonight? I'm afraid of being alone."

Hyungwon felt the pace of his heart quicken. He definitely wasn't prepared for Y/N to ask him that.

"Ummm sure I guess...... Just let me go change into my pajamas..."

He practically speed walked to his room and changed as fast as he could. He inhaled sharply before going back to Y/N's room, trying to ignore the pounding in his chest. Y/N watched him as he sat on one of the chairs.

"Ummm...... I was actually hoping you'd sleep here..." Y/N patted the space on the bed next to her.

Hyungwon swallowed the lump on his throat.

"She wants me to what!?" He thought to himself as he settled down in her bed.

He shifted around uncomfortably, staying as close to the edge as he could even though it was an enormous bed. He tried to close his eyes but shuddered when he felt arms wrap around him.

"Thank you. For saving me." He heard Y/N say.

Without even realizing it, he turned to face her and pulled her into his embrace.

"Don't mention it. I'm just happy to have you back." He confessed.

Y/N nuzzled her face in his chest and closed her eyes, in no time she was fast asleep. Hyungwon gently stroked her hair and stayed awake way after she fell asleep. He began to think about a lot of things. No doubt Y/N would still be scared for a couple days if not months with what happened.

Besides...... She's probably missing her family....

Hyungwon sighed in defeat. He hated the thought, but he knew it would be good if he let her be with her parents for a while. They'd probably comfort her better than he ever could.

Hyungwon closed his eyes, dreading what he was going to do in the morning.

It had been almost a month since Y/N arrived at her parent's new house. Hyungwon wasn't kidding when he said he'd take care of them, it was a cozy and spacious house, but not too big or anything grand. But it was still very beautiful.

Neither her nor her parents brought up the subject of Hyungwon, in fact they never even mentioned him at all. It was as if all of them wanted to pretend like he didn't exist, like none of the events happened, that they were just one big happy family. That everything was normal and fine.

Y/N was happy to see that her parents were alright and taken care of. It felt nice to be able to talk to someone and share a meal with them and it warmed her heart to be able to get a kiss good night and not wake up to find them gone.

During her time there, she avoided going out into the town, dreading the stares she'd get if the people saw her. So she spent most of her days helping her mom around the house or exploring some parts of the forests she hadn't been able to explore yet.

Sometimes during her walks she did feel nostalgic. She often thought about Hyungwon more than she'd like to admit. She couldn't help but remember how he risked his life to save her, how he was genuinely worried about her well being, the way his hands gently soothed away the pain of her injuries....... Even at nights she sometimes felt like she was in his loving embrace, only to wake up and find out it was nothing but a dream.

She didn't know why but she'd often just sigh to herself.

"You're doing that again." Her mom snapped her out of her thoughts during dinner one night.

"Huh?" Y/N looked up.

"Honey you've barely even touched your food." Her father added.

"Oh I guess I'm just not really hungry." Y/N tried to think of an excuse.

Her parents looked at her, almost as if they were trying to read through her.

"Y/N you've been looking rather sad these days." Her mother observed.

"How else do you want her to feel with all of that's happened?" Her father finally broke the ice on the one subject all had been avoiding.

Y/N tried to lighten the atmosphere.

"It's not that bad-"

"Not bad?! It could not possibly be worse!" Her dad exclaimed.

"Honey, I don't think we should-" Her mother tried to stop him.

"What? Not talk about the fact our daughter was kidnapped by a monster?" Her dad asked.

"He's not a monster." Y/N didn't know why but the words just came out.

Her mom and dad looked at her with concern.

"Darling, maybe that word is a little too much, but you can't deny this man is not exactly..." Her mother looked at her to see if she understood her point.

"I know he's not exactly the definition of a saint-"

"He could be the devil himself! He's a killer, a kidnapper, an extortionist, thief, makes business with weapons and narcotics. Who knows what else!" Her dad interrupted her.

Dropping her fork on the table, Y/N screamed: "You don't know Hyungwon!"

Her parents widened the eyes at her statement, looking at her as if she'd lost her mind.

"I... I know he's a criminal, I'm not blind to that fact..... But he's also a very kind and caring person. He's taken care of me all this time and once you get to know him, he's not that bad........."

Even Y/N didn't even know what she was saying.

"Oh darling...... What has he done to you?" Her mother asked.

"Get her to a shrink, she's lost her mind! To think she's defending that mobster!" Her father cried out in desperation.

Y/N had enough. Standing up, she slammed her fists on the table.

"That mobster just so happens to be my husband, and if it wasn't for him, I would have been dead a while ago. You can at least thank him for that."

Not wanting to hear any more, she stormed out the door, ignoring her mother calling out to her and running deep in the woods until her legs gave out.

Leaning against a tree, she let out a groan.

Have I really lost my mind?

She kept asking herself that. Why would she get so worked up about her parents saying things about Hyungwon? Why did she defend him? ......

Why do I keep longing for him?

Turning around, she put her arms on the tree and rested her face above them. She began sobbing out of nowhere. She felt sad, helpless, lonely, empty........ She felt pain in her heart that she couldn't quite explain. She wanted to call out but she knew it'd be of no use. No one would hear her.

She felt arms wrap around her waist and hug her tightly from behind, yet she did not flinch or become scared. She knew that warm embrace by heart. She really thought she was dreaming or going insane until she heard a soothing voice by her ear:

"Please don't cry my love."

You would get past about 4 movies and in the middle of the 5th you both would pass out or head to bed since you couldn’t keep your heads up

When he gets back from tour he is so affectionate and clingy because he missed you so much

Him getting you random plushies and cute small gifts like bracelets, plants, snacks, candles, etc.

Basically, he is the perfect boyfriend

Hyunwoo the morning after had a quick shower and we were walking to the kitchen to make breakfast to the bed for you. But as he entered the kitchen he could hear quiet chuckled from his members. He wasn’t asking and just was making the food.

Hoseok: “Did you hear that Hyungwon last night? I swear there was someone screaming.”

Hyungwon: “I did. It sounded like a female voice. How was that again?”

Changkyun: “Oh! Don’t stop daddy, just like that!”

Changkyun started impersonating your whines and everyone started laughing. Hyunwoo’s cheeks immediately heated up but he swallowed the embarrassment, took the plate and when he was about you leave the room he said, “It’s called sex for your information, guys. That thing you do when you actually have someone you love.” he smiled and left just like that.

Wonho:

Annoyed. They weren’t supposed to be in the dorms that night. He and you thought you were alone so neither of you held back your vocal cords. You two were very vocal when you could and thanks to that the members heard it all.

You and Hoseok were having breakfast on the couch cuddling with each other. Suddenly all the others started waking up and coming from their rooms. You immediately hit yourself into his chest.

Minhyuk: “You could be quieter. We didn’t need to hear everything. Kihyun is having a trauma for what he had heard.”

Hoseok: “You weren’t supposed to be here! It’s not our fault.”

Minhyuk: “When we came we were making so much noise! But you two were louder than six adult men.”

You were currently working in a clothing store at the mall. Since your old company had shut down, you had to improvise. You were busy folding the clothes that people carelessly threw back on the racks after they looked at it, deciding they didn’t like it; checking different prices of items, checking people out once they got everything they wanted, etc. You were already quite stressed due to other life issues, but this just piled more on top of your already stressed self. You couldn’t wait til Hyunwoo showed up to pick you up from this hell-hole of a job. Just thinking about him picking you up made you deeply excited. Your co-worker finally got off of his break, meaning you could go on your 10-minute break. You walked around the building, going outside to catch some fresh air before you had to go back in and finish your shift. You hung out around the entrance for about 5 minutes, then you saw a very familiar face walk up to you. You smiled and hugged him, grateful he got there earlier than he said he was going to. You went back to work after your break was over and he followed you. He looked at the clothes, helping you out if needed, and other activities. Your shift was just about to end you just needed to check out one more person in the line, then you would be finished. If only it was that easy. The machine kept glitching, making the man wait longer than he expected. He grew impatient and started to yell at you to hurry up.

“Do you not know how to work this stupid machine? Hurry up! I’ve got places to be” He raised his voice, making the other shoppers look towards you two. Hyunwoo saw this happening but didn’t interfere, afraid you might lose your job if he did. Though the man kept yelling at you and you were clearly trying your hardest and fastest to get it to work. Hyunwoo couldn’t take seeing you suffer due to this man’s impatience any longer, so he walked over to your both.

“Hey, can’t you see they’re trying their hardest to you get you out of here as quickly as possible?” He questioned, looking the man in the eye. You finally somehow got the machine to work, so the man didn’t have time to respond before he was getting handed his receipt. Hyunwoo walked up to you and softly smiled, making sure you were alright. Your shift was finally over so you left as soon as that man was out of sight.

Both you and Hoseok were bored sitting at home doing nothing but sitting on the couch, watching multiple things on the TV that weren’t interesting to either of you in the slightest. You were over it, so you decided to get him into the idea of going out and it was night time so he wouldn’t have to worry about running into fans as much. He eagerly agreed, putting on his nightlife attire. You both walked around the city, doing the most random things, like going to the park and running around, going to the mid-city market and taste tasting the various foods there, etc. You spent the past couple of hours exploring the city, then decided to go home since it was getting quite late. On your way home, you passed by many bars filled with loud people drowning their sorrows with alcohol, which was expected for a weekend, but what wasn’t expected was a man, who was clearly not in the right state of mind, came up to you and started yelling the most random accusations.

“Hey!!! Yeah, you! Come here you little bitch! How dare you do that to my buddy the other day!” The man screamed, standing in the middle of the side-walk, making the people passing look and stare. Wonho sensed your nervousness and slightly stood in front of you, making a barrier between you and the drunk guy.

The man looked up at Wonho with an angry scowl “Hey man, who are you? Her personal bodyguard?” The man laughed and nearly fell over but somehow caught himself.

“Listen, I’ve got no clue who you are, but you need to stop. This person right here, they’re not the person you are thinking about, I promise.” Wonho calmly told the guy. He gripped your hand and pulled you away before the man could make any more drunken accuses. You lightly squeezed his hand as a sign of thanks.

》Min-hyuk《

Minhyuk and the boys were shooting a new music video for their comeback. They invited you to come to the shooting place and help support them and hang out. You, of course, agreed. So, here you were, on the way to some random area, just out of the main city. You finally arrived and chatted with them for about 15 minutes before they had to go back to shooting. You gladly watched all of the professionalism going on during shoots. When you were a child, you were always interested in filming and producing, so it was really interesting to watch the process. You tried staying out of the way of all of the crew that were running around, trying to film as much as possible in very little time. As much as you tried, a certain man who you guessed was the producer started yelling at you for not doing anything.

“Why are you even here!? You’re just in the way! You’re making this shoot way longer than needed!” He yelled, flailing his arms around. He made such a commotion, everyone around stopped what they were doing and looked your way, including Minhyuk. “Helloo? Are you going to respond? You should just leave!” The man shouted, once again, gaining everyone’s attention. As soon as Minhyuk heard the yelling and saw you were the one being yelled at, he came to your side, questioning what was happening.

“What’s going on? Sir, you need to calm down” Minhyuk respectfully told the guy, not wanting to get in trouble for yelling at an important staff member. The man started to yell once more, saying how you being there was distracting the group and making it take longer than it should. Minhyuk lost his respectful manner and responded quite sarcastically “That’s ironic.. So, you making all of us take an un-needed 30-minute break just to get a can of soda, isn’t making this shoot any longer? Plus, they’re not doing anything harmful to the shoot, at all. If anything they are making it faster by encouraging all of us.” He told the guy, raising his right eyebrow. The producer didn’t respond and just walked away, looking very mad. Minhyuk turned to you and asked if you were okay. You nodded and they resumed their shoot. Minhyuk made sure no one else yelled at you for the rest of the shoot.

》Ki-hyun《

Kihyun had finally gotten a break from work, so you decided to go out and do something together. You were going to take the bus to feel like normal human beings and not people that had to hide from the public. After a while of waiting, the bus finally arrived. You got on and went to go sit down in a seat while Kihyun paid for the fair. Suddenly, a man came out of the bus’ bathroom in the far back. He glanced your way and when he saw you, his face turned into complete madness. You didn’t understand why he was so mad, it’s not like you personally assaulted him. He made his way up to you, starting to yelling at you to get up since you were ‘supposedly’ in his seat.

“Get up you lousy person!!” The man breathed, looking very pissed off. Kihyun heard this commotion, making him turn towards you. He saw what was happening and he walked to your side, forgetting about paying.

“Excuse me, you stood up, therefore, it was free for anyone to sit down.” He responded to the outraged man.”Look, there is a perfectly good seat in the corner for madmen like you” He pointed at a seat that was in the far back of the semi-empty bus. The man opened his mouth to respond but the bus driver yelled from the front to sit down before he kicks you three out. The man sullenly walked away, looking like steam was about to blow out of his ears like in a children’s cartoon.

Kihyun looked back at you, his eyes softening at your anxious expression. “Hey, are you alright?” He asked, placing his hand on your cheek. You simply nodded and sat back down. Smiling at him, you gave him a grateful ‘Thanks’. He simply smiled and gave you a quick kiss, then turned to glare at the man that caused so much trouble for one little spot.

》Hyungwon《

Like Kihyun, Hyungwon finally had a break in what felt like forever. You and him decided to go hang out with a couple friends, and their significant others. You all went out and explored, did some fun things, went to fun places, etc. You all decided it had been enough for one day, so you all went to your friend’s apartment to chill out.

You were all chatting, then suddenly, someone came up with the idea of playing a quiz game. You all agreed and made up two teams of 3. Your team included you, Hyungwon and this other guy who you didn’t know hardly at all. All the questions that came up sounded very easy, and you thought you knew the answers, but you kept getting them wrong, making your friends laugh at your enthusiasm turn into disappointment. Hyungwon just laughed it off and gave you a pat on the back telling you it was okay and that we would get it right the next time. Though the other man in your team was not so forgiving.

“You keep fucking us up!” The man yelled, making everyone quite shocked. Hyungwon was not okay with someone yelling at you like that, so naturally, he decided to speak up.

“I think you’re the one fucking us up” He calmly spoke, looking at the man who had a very angry expression. Hyungwon wasn’t wrong, the man answered falsely more times than you did. The guy looked pissed as he glared at Hyungwon. “What? Can’t handle the truth?” He glared back at the non-intimidating man. Everyone, including you, watched this unfold without a word, not knowing how to respond or if you should. You all decided to go home due to the tense environment.

Once you got home you looked at Hyungwon and smiled, giving him a kiss. “Thank you. I love you so much” You told him with imaginative hearts in your eyes. He smiled back and wrapped you in a hug, whispering an ‘I love you more’ back to you.

》Joohoney/Jooheon《

Jooheon had been working so much lately, so you decided to go visit him at the company building. You got ready and headed out, stopping by Starbucks to get him and yourself a coffee and a little snack. After a 20 minute drive, which seemed like 5 due to you enjoying some music, you finally arrived. You went inside and signed in, then went to go see Jooheon in one of the studio rooms. He was quite shocked to see you there, but super happy nonetheless. After finishing your drinks and snacks, he went back to working on whatever he was doing. After a little while, you convinced him to take a break and walk around the building to stretch his legs since he had been sitting practically all day. You walked around, going into rooms you hadn’t ever seen before, laughing at funny designs in the building, etc. You were walking down a particularly long and busy hallway. You tried to stick to the walls to not knock into anyone, but your plan had failed. You ran straight into someone making them and yourself stumble onto the floor. You were about to stand up and apologize but the man quickly gathered the things he was carrying and started full-on yelling at you.

“What the hell! Do you not know how to see? I was walking right in front of you!!” The man’s face became a light red, signaling how angry he was. Jooheon knelt down beside you asking if you were alright, checking your body for any severe damage. He tried to ignore the guy’s ridiculous screaming by focusing on you, but the man kept yelling.

“Hello!? I’m talking to you! Wow, you are completely idiotic” The man insulted you, clearly not getting over the small incident. Jooheon was over this and yelled back at the man “Dude, shut up, no one cares. She might have gotten really hurt yet you’re mad about some stupid accident?” He stood up glaring at the guy who clearly wasn’t listening. He started to respond but then his boss came over to see what all the fuss was about, realizing who Jooheon was, the boss apologized and pulled the man away. Jooheon chuckled to himself and whispered ‘Dick’ under his breath. He made 100% sure you were okay, then led you back to his studio to hang out a little more.

》I.M./Changkyun《

You and Changkyun wanted to get out of the house and have some fun, so you both decided to go to your local night club. You got ready and went to your car which was a pretty good walk, making you regret your decision on wearing your specific uncomfortable shoes. You finally made it to your car and drove to the venue. Once you got inside, you both started to dance like there were no troubles in the world. You decided not to drink because you both had to work in the morning and didn’t want to deal with the bad hangover, plus you had to drive home. You decided to take a break and head outside, away from the deafeningly loud music that was playing inside. You stayed outside for a good 5 minutes then headed back inside, due to needing to use the bathroom. You did your business and then started to head back out, sounds easy right? What could go wrong? Well, this could; You opened the restroom’s entrance door, causing the man passing by to get lightly touched. Anyone in their right mind would just brush it off, but this man was heavily intoxicated and started yelling at you. Even over the loud music, he was being incredibly loud.

“You little bitch! Be careful with what you’re doing!” He screamed. You could hardly make out what he was saying due to how drunk he was. Changkyun was wondering what was taking so long, so he came to look for you, only to find you getting yelled at by some crazy man. Changkyun was beyond pissed. How could someone yell at you like that? He walked over to you and told the man off

“Dude, Back off or else your gonna regret it” He spoke lowly as possible for the man to still hear him. The man looked like he was about to fight Changkyun but was forced away by a group of people, most likely his friend group. After the man was gone, Changkyun looked back at you, making sure you were alright. After that, you weren’t in the mood to stay, so you just headed home and baked cookies for some reason.

Surprise

There was a reason Hyungwon didn’t tell you the exact day he’d be back. He didn’t want you upset if something changed suddenly, and he certainly didn’t want you staying up all night if he happened to come home late, like he was right now. And, personally he thought your reaction might be a little funny.

He let himself into the apartment and set his things beside the door, too tired to drag them all the way to the bedroom. He kicked off his shoes and made his way down the hall, slowly pushing open the bedroom door. He smiled at the lump buried under a thick layer of blankets. You were sleeping on his side, and from what he could just barely see, in one of his shirts too.

Yawning, he crawled into your side of the bed, burrowing under the blankets and gently wrapping an arm around you. Finally home, he finally felt relaxed and it was like a weight had been lifted from his shoulders. Hyungwon hid his face in your back and drifted off to sleep.

Finding Hyungwon in bed with you that morning was a pleasant surprise once you’d realized it was him. Drowsy, you’d almost thrown him from the bed when you woke up, confused as to who was in bed with you. Seeing him, you thought you were dreaming until he pulled the covers tighter around himself.

He must’ve come home late, so you decided to leave him be while you went to tend to Seojoon and take care of a few chores. In the room across the hall, you heard him starting to whine. He was sitting up in bed when you entered, his hair a mess and his turtle pajamas wrinkled. He held his hands up and you took him in your arms, setting him on your hip as you turned to make your way to the kitchen.

“We have to be quiet, okay?” you told him as you brushed the hair from his eyes. “Daddy’s sleeping.”

Seojoon was almost instantly wide awake and squirming in your arms to see if Hyungwon was near. “Daddy?” You nodded and kissed his temple. Hyungwon was in for the shock of his life if he didn’t notice the toys and stuffed animals when he came home.

It was nearly noon when Hyungwon woke up. You were gone from his arms, and he was disappointed to have not seen you first thing, or see your reaction. He rubbed his eyes and forced himself out of bed, taking a blanket with him as he stumbled into the hallway.

He found you washing dishes in the kitchen and hooked his arms around you, hugging you tight to his chest.

“Good morning, handsome,” you said. He chuckled and held you tighter, so happy to hear your voice again. He was just about to try to drag you back to bed when he heard the thumping of little feet on the floor and felt something run into his legs.

A little boy giggled up at him. Did you have a nephew over? He must’ve been born while he- “Daddy!” He reached up to tug on the hem of his shirt, all but begging to be held. Hyungwon shot you a look and bent to pick up the boy. Daddy? “Come play!”

“Seojoon,” you cut in softly, “you have to let him rest a little.”

“It’s okay,” Hyungwon said. “Go pick a game, I’ll play with you.” Seojoon squealed with excitement and kissed his father’s cheek before he was set down and dashed to his room.

Hyungwon watched him disappear around the corner and tried to blink away the tears welling in his eyes.

“Turtle dove, are you crying?” you asked, slightly nervous of his reaction.

He shook his head and shot you a weak smile. “I have a son.” He covered his mouth and laughed. He, Chae Hyungwon, had a baby boy to call his own. He pressed a firm kiss to your lips before going to play.

It felt like hours later when you went to go check on them. The two had been quite for some time while you went to unpack Hyungwon’s things for him. Peeking into Seojoon’s room, your heart melted.

They’d fallen asleep in the middle of the floor, Seojoon sleeping soundly on Hyungwon’s chest.
