Vegan

P: “Did you hear about the protests?”

D: “Yeah! I did”

P: “Can you even believe anything that happened?”

D: “Yeah! I know, The World’s a fucked up place”

P: “What the police did is not right!”

D: “What? Have you lost it? Are you fucking out of your mind? What do you think even happened?”

P: “So I’ve heard that the homes of the workers in the outskirts of the city have been destroyed by the police”

D: “Really? Have you read the whole story on the internet?”

P: “No, I’m unaware of that. What happened?”

D: “Ah! That’s the problem with pseudo intellectuals like you. You guys don’t even want to know the whole story but you hear a story about a poor man or a gay or a fucking Muslim and you just think this world is an unjust place!”

P: “But then it’s too cruel, isn’t it? Do they even have a place to go to?”

D: “Ah! Just fucking read the news alright? Those plots were illegally occupied by them. Illegally. Can you imagine?!”

P: “So just because they settled on a land that doesn’t belong to them, what’s done with them is suddenly justified?”

D: “So what do you suggest? Settle them on plots that don’t even belong to them? Today it’s the outskirts, tomorrow it will be downtown and before you know, these people will be in your locality”

P: “...”

D:  “And have you ever seen them? Every last one of them looks like a rapist, thief or a murderer! I swear 80 per cent of the crimes that are committed in the city are committed by them.”

P: “...”

D: “Do you want a fucking murderer in your locality? If your mother or your sister or your little niece or you are raped on the streets, whose responsibility will it be?”

P: “...”

D: “Anyway I’ve heard they even hunt down pigs and dogs mercilessly”

P: “Are you serious?” 

D: “Yeah! It’s pathetic.”

P: Eye balls roll up, lips gaped, a sigh. A heavy sigh.

D: “I told you! The world’s a fucked up place!”

P: “Chalo! By the grace of God, at least those dogs and pigs will now be at peace”

Today let us all take a moment to thank the authorities for their swift action! The dogs are at peace, the pigs are at peace. The rest of these uncivilised, uncouth animals are being taken over to a butchering mill strategically located miles outside any habitable zone. None of the screams will reach the worshippers of peace. Thank you authorities, their screams would have made these dogs and pigs puke in their bowl of thick lentil soup garnished with chopped Tofu and grated self righteousness.
