Module 3: Disaster Risk Reduction and Management
As I conducted my “kwentuhan” and community walk with the baranggay officials and key persons, I have learned how ready my baranggay is for such circumstances. I’ve learned the things they do before and after such calamities hitting our city and specifically our baranggay. I interviewed one person which is the baranggay kagawad named Loy Oro of Baranggay Dela Paz in Pasig City.
This is the link of my interview. https://mail.google.com/mail/u/2?ui=2&ik=0c0b8640c2&attid=0.1&permmsgid=msg-f:1653357460176887976&th=16f1e7d9a495e0a8&view=att&disp=safe
The most important thing that I’ve learned is where I should avoid going to and where I should go with having such calamities. I’ve learned the safest ways to lessen the risk of being hurt in such disasters. He told me the most dangerous place to go when there is a typhoon and flood going on in our baranggay. And of course, he also told me where is the safest area in our baranggay. I realized that this information should be applied to all baranggays in our country to spread awareness in every person in the community. As easy as having announcements through posters, social media, and seminars, spreading of awareness will be applied.
I’ve learned also how ready my baranggay is in terms of having disasters in terms of rescuing. (Seen in the pics below.)
As a member of this community, being aware and spreading awareness is a big help to the community. As well as helping the baranggay spreading the awareness by posting in social media, and posters, can help the members of your community. That’s why I believe in the saying “A simple act of kindness create an endless ripple.” This simple act can have a big impact not just in the community, but also it can spread through other communities and so on and so forth.
Lastly, I just wanna say that I’m thankful for this activity since it helped me be aware of my community in discussing its disaster risks. At the same time, I enjoyed talking to the baranggay officials since they are friendly and feels like family since we are all members of the community. This is Baranggay Dela Paz of Pasig City.
