The way you change your immediate reactions to things is that you catch yourself having an uncharitable/bigoted/overly judgmental thought and you catch it and replace it and then you do that a hundred times a day for your whole life and eventually one day like five years later you realize that you think differently now and you’ll always be working on something but that’s how life goes and that’s fine.

having a freeze response to stress is so funny in the context of normal adult stressors. millions of years of evolution are trying to tell me that the email will not find me if i stay very still and do nothing

08.01.2025 // day 321 // restart
back after a long break, some travels, binge-eating and being unhinged. progress continues to be steady as i prepare for fieldwork. it helps a lot that campus is very quiet now and i don't have to deal with emails. we got new bookshelves in our office, so i've been able to really spread out across my desk. brain feels less foggy thanks to medication.

presenting to you: my first ever Filofax (I got it on super sale), I have no idea what kind of system I’ll have so I’ll just roll with my moods! for now I have calendar and to do lists and the rest I’ll figure out as the year rolls on 😌 reblog is ok, don’t repost/use

Day 673 of the PhD
Second day back in the office and it’s a full day of reading. Which I’m kind of excited about since it’s raining today and the perfect weather for reading. Not going to lie, it’s great to be back working on the PhD. It’s also my third year this year so I have another 6 months after this and then I’m finished so hopefully it all goes smoothly.
