Design Of The Past
In my archive homepage, you will find a number of images of old advertisement, graphic design and interior design that I categorised into Past Design or Design Of The Past. However, my page don't seem to work when I tried either hashtags pastdesign or designofthepast. But if you go through my homage or click on the hashtags, you will find them. Apologies!

SUZANNE SAROFF
I really want to draw this photograph by Suzanne Sarroff, the warped papaya reflections would look cool in a linear drawing style.

PLAYING WITH TYPE
I really like the distorted type in these graphics I found on Instagram. I would like to include more interesting text within my work.

I love this cute illustration of fruit in a net shopping bag, it’s a lot more kitsch than my usual taste but love the little faces of the fruit and it reminds me of a shopping bag I own.

I love this funny little photoshop of the Hollywood sign into the name “Holloway”, the area of North London I’m from. It’s quite tongue and cheek, as the are is a huge contrast to the glamorous LA lifestyle.

VINTAGE VOGUE TATTOO
This is a simple, linear tattoo of a design from an old Vogue magazine edition. I love the contrast of modern, minimal, monochrome line to the content of the drawing, whilst still being in an obvious 1920′s style.

TRAINER DRAGON COLLAGE
I love this collage someone has created combining streetwear and anime. This image is of a FILA trainer and a Patta label on the head of ‘Haku’ the river spirit dragon from the classic Japanese animation, Spirited Away. I love how well the trainer fits with the head of the dragon, as I would have never thought of combining the two.

GIOVANNI GARCIA-FRENCH - “SELF PORTRAIT WITH TWO PROBLEMS”
I love this contemporary self portrait, with the two red spheres representing the problems that the artist is stuck between. It is an interesting concept to visualise in this way, and he does so very well.

“PATTERNS FOR VER SACRUM” - KOLOMON MOSER AKA KOLO - 1899
I love this ntique print. I can't work out if it is of waves or feathers or something completely different but think it has a really nice combination of line work and filled black areas. I don't know if the brown paper was intentional or if it just aged as its such an old piece, but I think it compliments the black linear work really well.

MONICA GARZA - I SMOKE WHEN I DRANK (2017)
I love this painting due to it’s expressive application of paint. There is a lot of texture to this piece as brushes were not used, but it looks like a palette knife. I want to work more with paint in the future, and will try this more expressive method of painting.

QUICK DIGITAL DRAWINGS
I found this image on Instagram, its of a quick digital illustration. Most digital work I have created has been very precise and time-consuming so would love to create quicker images on the computer, like a drawing workshop, to improve my skills and speed at creating digital art.

BRYCE WONG
I love Wong’s illustrations as he takes quite simple designs and distorts them as if they have been dragged along a scanner. He draw icons including celebrities and well known cartoon characters, such as Sailor Moon, and either draws or prints them into clean cut/surreal monochrome images.

70′s DUB COVER
This is another great album cover from a 70s dub vinyl. It has elements of a naff metal album cover, with the skull and the flames and gothic font for the title, but I love the combination of it all, and the bright red colour of the flames makes the cover more visually appealing and eye-catching.

ROBERTO ALCARAZ - BENIDORM PHOTOGRAPHY
This is an image of Benidorm, a popular resort known for it’s tackiness, however Alacaraz’s impressive composition transforms the garish holiday destination into a clean pattern of architecture, beautiful and satisfying.

KIDS
I like the cartoon like eviction of the clothing in this image as it reminds me of the work I produced in my Semiotics project. I also like the combination of thin, expressive lines with the bold text at the forefront of the image.

PATRIK MOLLWING - TWO HUNDRED AND FORTY-TO HASHTAGS
This is an artist I found whilst reading an article on Its Nice That. I love the disproportionate aspect to the limbs, head and body of the subject. I would like to explore playing with perspective and proportion more with my own work, as I tend to try to keep it as accurate as possible.
