It's weird how some of the best music I have ever heard has come from artists that have very little released
For example, there is Polite Fiction, only sporting 1 EP and two singles, totaling to 8 songs. There's also RedHorizon (which I have written about before), 6 songs released. There's an artist called Bonnito who only has 1 song released, that being a cover of "All I Want" by A Day To Remember. All of the songs presented are great, but there is little else from the bands/artists, and that's kind of annoying. After all, we always want more of what we like, right?
If you haven't already, make sure to check out the mashups I made! You can find the link to them in the intro post I have up. They aren't of the highest quality, but I made them with love (I swear!!!)

Hello everyone!
You remember me saying the thing about mashups, right?
Well here you go!
Clicking on the link will send you to moimash, a channel where I will upload any future mashups I make (as well as the four I just uploaded!).
They aren't of the highest quality and I'm not the best at vocal isolation, but I still hope you like it!
The full source list is in the description of the video.
Enjoy!!

The second most recent Rare Americans album (Searching For Strawberries: The Story of Jongo Bongo) feels different from the rest, and I'm not entirely sure why
Rare Americans is a (ironically enough) Canadian alt-rock band, where most of their music is made to send a message, with topics ranging from how the world is too unfair (think "Love Is All I Bring" and "Gas Mask") to how much the good things can affect us (think "Shay" and "Mama Bear").
The two most recent albums leaned more into a specific topic than the other four (not counting RA 3 Deluxe), with Searching For Strawberries telling a story about a man trying to get away from all the pressures of life and The Human Animal being a commentary on the oppressive nature of a hypercapitalist society.
The major difference between Searching For Strawberries and the rest of Rare Americans' discography is in its subject matter; a man who is tired of it all and decides to leave to see the world for what it is outside of work. The way they present this idea to the viewer is through a fully animated storyline featuring the music from the album and moments of conversation between characters to connect the songs.
For the most part, it's still a typical RA album; the world sucks, but there are always things to live for. Though, a big thing about that is, in all albums beforehand, most of the songs were not connected. A few songs had recurring storylines, or had some relation to an event in a previous song, yet none of them really had a major overarching story to tell between songs. With all songs being connected to one another in Searching For Strawberries, it's hard to imagine it as an album rather than a soundtrack.
It feeling like a soundtrack is what's weird about the album, as I can't put my finger onto what might have changed it to be like that. Is it that I know that it's from what is essentially an animated film? Is it that they all tell similar storues to one another? Maybe it's that they all tell stories in the first place? I'm not sure. It's strange to listen to a good album and feel that it's wrong; "this is not like the rest of their albums, but why?" And this is where I'm left, with slight confusion and wonder at how Rare Americans did it.
I guess this is the semicolon episode; I think I like using them. Anyway, sorry for the short hiatus I had! It takes a while for the words to form in my head!

Geometry Dash wouldn't have changed my music tastes if it weren't for it introducing me to Newgrounds
I liked the regular songs a lot (and still listen to a few of them), but they just weren't too notable when it came to the level composition or their presentation. To this day, "Stereo Madness" by Forever Bound has me thinking less about the song and more about the first level of the game, which is almost as bare bones as it gets. Blue background, one block style, only cube and ship gamemodes, and overall lack of interesting or fun gameplay. I get that it acts as the tutorial of the game (if you don't count the 5 screen pop-up when you first play), but it should at least be good-looking.
But then there's the level editor. Every block design in the game, all objects, all harmful things, even coins. You can change some settings of the level in the top right, and with those settings is music choice. You can choose between all the songs from the mainline levels, or you can choose a custom song with a Newgrounds ID (by now, there's a built-in song library with other songs not in the game normally, but that's besides the point). This is where most of the magic happens when it comes to custom levels you'll find on Geometry Dash.
You can find a lot of different songs on Newgrounds, from some of the artists of the songs already in Geometry Dash, including Waterflame, DJVI, and Ocular Nebula. Aside from them, you can find artists people use a lot of music from in the game, including Creo, Bossfight, and Xtrullor. Creo, specifically, is the one that really pushed me in the direction I have been sent.
"Epilogue" by Creo is probably one of my favorite songs of all time. Being built to sound like the bittersweet ending to an otherwise action-packed and epic adventure, it manages to jerk tears from me every now and then. It is so expertly crafted that you would expect it to actually be from a movie or a video game, but no, it was just a piece of music made for fun (I guess??).
If it weren't for Geometry Dash, I wouldn't have listened to more of Creo, or Xtrullor, or DJVI, and my music obsession would have probably never started. Yet here I am now, talking about musicians and artists and bands no one cares about and hoping that someone will give them a shot. I hope you like them just as much as I do.
Obligatory end-of-rant silly sentence hoo hoo

It's cool to know that the rock bands you know and love used to perform their music for TV shows and movies
What is probably one of the best examples of this is Simple Plan, where they performed the What's New, Scooby-Doo? theme song. They also had a few of their songs featured in a some episodes, those being "I'd Do Anything" in the 5th episode of the show, ^It's Mean, It's Green, It's the Mystery Machine^, and "You Don't Mean Anything" and "The Worst Day Ever" in the 23rd episode of the show, ^Simple Plan and the Invisible Madman^, which also featured the band voicing animated versions of themselves.
Another great example is Bowling For Soup, which did the theme song to Phineas and Ferb. There's not much else to say on that front, but the band also performed the theme song of The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius for the movie.
I'm sure there are more notable ones out there, but those are the only ones that came to mind

I find it really funny how there is three different versions of "Walking The Dog" by fun.
"Walking The Dog", "Walking The Dog II", "Walking The Dog - RAC Mix"
I mean they're all good songs don't get me wrong but that's just downright silly tbh

RedHorizon was a great band, and it's sad that they broke up
RedHorizon, a very unknown band (not even listed on RYM!), released their one and only album, named "Y", back in 2021. It was an EP (extended play for those uninitiated), sporting only 5 songs, them being "Collide", "Rushing In", "Run", "Paralyzed" (my favorite from the album), and the namesake of the album, "Y". 2 years later, the band released a single, titled "In Reverse". They later announced in April of 2024 that they would be disbanding after their final show.
The genre is not really definitive, with the only real describing words for it being feel-good alt-indie. However, this doesn't exactly apply to "In Reverse", as that song feels more end-of-the-world style than anything else. Since it was their final song together, it feels more like it was made as a sign of their eventual disbanding, due to how soul-crushing it all sounds.
If it weren't for the obscurity of the band, I feel they all would've continued to make music together, and because of how unique their style was, I can only imagine it could only get better.
On the topic of lost media, at one point, the band had a website from which you could learn all about them; Show dates, about the band, etcetera. However, on that website, they had the high quality studio recordings of their songs for free, and I had them downloaded. The files were way too large, though, so I ended up converting them to .mp3s (they were .wavs before) to save on space. This, in turn, lost a fair amount of quality. Once the band broke up, the website was obsoleted; with this, you could no longer download the high quality studio releases of their songs.
I will not be tagging this with the lost media tag, as this is pretty minor compared to other things, but if anyone has any leads on where you can find it, don't be scared to reach out! I'm one of the final 13 monthly listeners of theirs on Spotify, and I would love to know of any news on this amazing band!

Stevia Sphere is a strange, yet really good, vaporwave musician
Most of her music sounds very similar in style, with a lot of it being classed as synthwave or vaporwave (personally I call her style elevator music). The most recent album she released, however, is a little more upbeat than the rest, and I think it coincides with her main musical alter-ego, Glaciaere (sometimes stylized as Glaciære).
In the same sense as Stevia Sphere, Glaciære is a musical project centered more around vaporwave. The most popular albums released under the moniker are Hammock, Water Slide, and Pool Water Blue, each containing songs that are meant to feel relaxing and nostalgic.
Despite the track record, however, Glaciaere threw a curveball with the two most recent album releases, Buried In Bliss and Troubled But Hopeful. These two albums feature more quick, and sometimes a little angry-sounding, tracks with little similarity to previous songs from other albums past instrument choice.
This is especially prominent in the first song of Buried In Bliss, titled "On A Lighter Note", which is more of a fast rock song, not dissimilar to that which you'd find in techno rock.
However, this recent insurgence of energy is not the weirdest part, as Stevia Sphere/Glaciaere has *plenty* of other names and musical projects. All names she has gone under are Selecta Character, Y2Kasette, pine voc, Stevia DX, Tovatronica, and S t e v i a S p h e r e, plus the two already mentioned.
It's really odd for there to be so many different names for one artist, especially since they all stick to one genre for the most part. It's welcome though, she makes great music. Go listen to some of her work! You can find most, but not all, of it on Spotify!

garlagan's most recent album release, "If It Will", is probably a perfect representation of him as a musician.
It features all corners of his shape, with the calm and collected build of the songs "Form" and "Longing", the ecstatic and fast works of "Slowing Down" and "Do", the more lyrical, guitar-centered type with "What You Really Want" and "Going Back", and, finally, the jaunty and fun feelings featured in "Is This It Is It" and "t0Y0u".
The other four songs, "What You Love", "Direction", "Who Knows", and "Wait" tie it all together to make a great omelet of his music.
The only thing I'd say it's missing is an easy intro track, as while it is a good song, jumping straight into "What You Love", the longest song in the album (and one of the more eccentric ones at that), is a bit of a rough start. I, personally, would have put "Wait" at the beginning, because I feel like it works so well for an intro song that it's weird that it isn't.
