I AM APPEALING TO YOUR HUMANITY

Dear people of Tumblr, I want to tell you the story of my dear friend Mohammed (@mohmad40).

Mohammed is a kind, gentle and hardworking father and family man living in Gaza who has been displaced repeatedly in this brutal war. He has lost loved ones to either displacement or death, has been arrested and tormented in Israeli prison for TWO MONTHS, and has been released back into an open air concentration camp, left to provide for himself and his family. With no chance to heal, no time to rest.

I communicate with him daily, and every day is a struggle. Everyday presents a new challenge worse and more brutal than the day before. Mohammed tells me about how expensive their basic necessities are. How he needs $300 USD for cleaning supplies after their clothing was contaminated by sewer water, how he needs $700 USD to repair his mother’s tent from damages from the excess flooding and worsening weather conditions, how his and his families food and hygeine needs often go unaddressed due to it simply being too expensive and inaccessible. This is in addition to him having to be mindful of the $5,000 per person fee to cross the Egyptian border.

Pictured above is the sewer water flooding sent to me by Mohammed, which has been worsening. Mohammed tells me that many, including his family, have been displaced again due to the flooding and have fallen ill due to the contamination.

This isn’t even the full picture of Mohammed’s situation. His situation grows more dire by the second. His entire family is counting on him! Including his toddler son, Ahmed, who he fears will never go on to have a future.

This sweet boy is in need of growth supplements that now cost $200, which Ahmed needs to take four times a month to maintain his health. With Mohammed having no source of income, Ahmed has fallen behind on his treatment and his health has been declining.

I could continue to list off every one of Mohammed's most urgent needs and how dire his circumstances are, but there's truly not much left to say. He has no access to the most basic human necessities and no way to obtain them other than through our contributions. Time is running out, and donations are slow. Mohammed needs our help NOW.

Kind people of Tumblr, please think for a moment what it would be like to be in Mohammed's situation. To have nothing but the kindness of strangers to rely on. To have to do this all while living in an active warzone.
