modvinnie. Fandom old. I have a thing for leather jackets and dreamy dresses. I checked in to this Hotel California hellsite in 2009 and have loved a lot of fandoms over the years. Welcome to the madhouse.

Since it’s been over a decade I think I can say - without getting too much hate - that Lemon Breeland’s wedding dress was completely ooc, a horrendous choice, and ugly to boot.
#lemon breeland#hart of dixie#in what works was lemon of s1 gonna show that much skin#it was an ostrich dress#and the tacky jewelry#what about it said southern belle#crazy#it’s so bad#every time I rewatch I get more confused on the choice lol

Oklahoma is attempting to pass a bill that would ban explicit romance novels. Authors, narrators, and sellers could all face fines of up to $100,000 and up to 10 years in jail for each instance.
If you live in OK, call your representative and tell them this bill should not be allowed to pass.
This is likely a test case. Republicans will try to pass it in OK and if it passes other states will likely try to pass similar laws.
In the meantime, get physical copies of books you like. Download those pdfs. Archive your AO3 stories and keep them on a physical hard drive. (Storing those files in the cloud could be problematic in the future as the company managing the cloud service can see what your files are)

I'm reading an article in The New Yorker about potential plagiarism in romantasy land and they talked to a number of authors to provide context. Including . . . . Cassandra Clare.
I just . . . you talked to CC in a story about alleged plagiarism in fiction? I have passed away from a terminal case of irony.

I love how a majority of fandoms have a pretty amicable relationship with their source material and, to some extent, creators. Meanwhile, every MCU fan I've ever spoken to has an itemized list of directors, producers, and/or writers that they'd bare-knuckle box in a Waffle House parking lot if ever given the chance and could write a doctorate-level dissertation on how they fucked up their favorite character(s)

If you can put water in a bag (first water containers very well may have been animal bladders or stomachs, not pots)
I never connected that that’s why they are called bladders even today!
First ape to go to the watering hole with a container and put some of the water in it so that they could drink more later without returning to the watering hole must have been lauded as a fucking genius.
