quick draft -
unsure why when exported, the background color doesn’t come out.
first sentence needs to be fixed? but doesn’t show like that on my after effects so might be a exporting issue.
things to change: - pacing needs to be a bit better, maybe faster animations of the text typing - credits to be added - adding in some visuals?

storyboarding -
rough idea of how the kinetic type would look, i feel like i could add in some more images to make it more visually interesting and also just think about the transitions between each sentence a bit more. next step now is to start making some drafts and experiments as well as looking at typefaces to find one that would suit the tone of the speech.

typeface experiments -
axis + milkman big and bold, gives off a very strong tone.
adorn condensed sans + avenir next feels a bit more floaty with adorn condensed sans, not really feeling it would fit the context of helen clarks speech.
amagro + avenir next could be seen in a fashion editorial, feels a feminine. it also feels quite bold and strong as well, which could work well with the words i want to emphasise.
vogue regular + spartan once again feels like it could be seen in a fashion or editorial piece. unsure about this pairing as i feel like spartan might just be a bit too thick? maybe it would look better thinner/lighter or at a smaller pt size in comparison to vogue.
courier prime + courier new too similar, not sure about what tone it gives off. reminds me of text from typewriters and doesn’t feel like it would suit my context.
barricada pro + avenir next barricada feels a little playful with the curves and softness of it, in comparison with the other typefaces in this page. not the tone im going for.
zenon + spartan zenon has the thick and bold atributes i want but just doesn’t feel right, reminds me of cooper black and to me i feel like that suits something that has a less serious tone.

color palettes -
as said before i wanted to incorporate red into my kinetic type as red signifies power. personally am gravitating towards the 3rd option there, potentially with the lighter cream brown as a background.
first one feels a little messy and i feel like they dont fit together at all. this was just done playing around with the adobe colors with red and purple in mind.
second one isn’t too bad, im just a bit unsure about the grey-blue.

women, equality, power
synopsis: “Women, Equality, Power is a celebration of an outstanding leader who continues to strive and work for change, and it's a rallying call for other women leaders, whether they are in positions of political, economic or social power. Helen Clark has been a political leader for more than 40 years, since first running in local elections in the 1970s. She entered parliament as a 31-year-old in 1981, led the Labour Party to victory in 1999 and was Prime Minister of New Zealand for nine years. She then took on a critical international role as Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme in New York. One of her key focuses throughout this time has been the empowerment of women, and she has paved the way for other women to step up and lead.” - https://www.helenclarknz.com/books

animation tone
with the quote by helen clark, the tone of the animation should feel quite empowering, bold and strong to the viewer. as it boosts pride in inclusivity for women, the typeface along with color palette should match it as well.
keywords: - empowering - pride - inclusivity - serious - formal - optimistic

“You can't create a shared future without women. Women make up half the world. You simply can't run a good country, a good company, a good organisation without fully involving women. Women I think are mostly born collaborators, they do work in teams, they have more non-hierarchical styles of leadership. Organisations benefit from this in the long run, the best results of those you get from working collaboratively, not from a command top down approach where you don't get buy in from everyone.” - Helen Clark
- women - the future - working in teams, collaborating - inclusivity this quote is a very clear message on how it benefits communities, companies and countries on how women should be involved in work, thus breaking patriarchal ideas and gender norms.

animation examples -
- the use of the dot to carry the entire animation, makes it feel really seamless. - use of visual puns to emphasise the meaning of the word - using colors as a supporting means to carry out the meanings of each word - incredibly smooth animations, everything feels like it flows in and out quite easily and there is no staggering or awkward bits - i really like the color gradient used in the background when ‘envy’ is animated, subtle but really effective - the use of sound effects when the dot bounces or touches something gives it a sense of life as it moves and carries the animations

animation example -
- there is a recognisable color palette - visually very interesting but also moves quite quickly as the speaker is talking very fast. not all words seem to be animated which potentially helps with a better pacing with the visual effects - different typefaces used... not sure how effective this is visually. in certain parts it works but with the use fo heavy pictorials along with the text, it also personally feels a bit overwhelming for me - use of sound effects, eg ‘woosh’, droplet noise, pings, movement, pops - each new visual is animated in extremely smoothly, you can see that you are watching something that feels cohesive and jumps between frames seamlessly

animation examples -
- use of the words as puns to create visual meaning and movement, makes it more interesting and also feels very smooth with the way it comes out of the word - having the visual pun move, eg in balloon, the o’s move upwards and float - colors that relate to the words, makes it feel more immersive - really smooth animations, it all feels like it belongs as there is no lagging or staggering of the elements when it’s moving
