one step ahead
this was requested by @lesbian-kiwi a while back (sometime last year) but I never got around to posting it. I’m not too sure how I feel about this but I rewrote this twice and I still feel dissatisfied with how this turned out to be. I hope everyone enjoys this regardless the mistakes and my dissatisfaction.
words: 1513 words
pairing: spencer reid x reader
summary: you thought you were sly but spencer proves he is one step ahead of you.
Tumblr media
You saunter casually in to the pantry, holding your mug like it was the only thing that kept you grounded (in truth, it is the only thing that kept you from hightailing it back to your desk). “Hi, Spence.” You greet the Doctor, whom you had actually seen walking in to the pantry and mainly the reason why you have found yourself here in the pantry.
Spencer looks up from his own mug and when his eyes land on you, he gives you a smile. A smile that leaves your heart racing, knees shaking, and you curse him (half-heartedly, of course) for having such a beautiful smile that makes you incredibly soft and mushy. “Hi, Y/N. Getting a refill?” He motions to your mug and you nod your head. Spencer makes some space for you to stand beside him and you swallow the lump in your throat as you took the space beside him.
“My mum sent over some Green Tea she got when she went to Japan for a vacation so I figured I should try it out. Mum’s very picky with her tea so I think she must have really liked this.” You tell him as you showed him the green tea bag you have in your mug. Spencer leans over slightly to look and half of you wanted to flinch while the other half simply wanted to lean in – you can smell his cologne and it sends shiver down your spine.
Spencer nods his head, leaning back. “Green tea is loaded with antioxidants and nutrients that have powerful effects on the body and it is also about 30 percent polyphenols by weight, including large amounts of a catechin called EGCG and this substance can reduce the formation of free radicals in the body, protecting cells and molecules from damage. Drinking three to five cups of green tea per day seems to be optimal to reap the most health benefits…” Spencer trails off when he notices the look of awe (and is that admiration he sees?) on your face and suddenly he feels shy. He clears his throat and looks at his own steaming mug.
Snapping out of your adoration for the Doctor beside you, you cannot help but let the smile on your face grow. “I didn’t know any of those so thank you for sharing, Spence.” You point out and when he looks at you shyly from the corner of his eyes, you almost poured hot water on your hand instead of your mug, but you didn’t. So, you had saved yourself from the embarrassment. “So.”
Spencer looks at you curiously.
You clear your throat. “I heard Emily couldn’t make it for the movie thing the two of you have planned.” To be honest, you only heard about this from Garcia because she would not stop talking about how sad Spencer had looked when Emily had to cancel due to her Ambassador Prentiss flying in.
“Yes, we were supposed to be watching this Russian movie I came across and thought we would enjoy.” Spencer informs you. He had really been excited to watch Ballad of A Solider and since the film festival is conveniently showing the 1959 movie, Spencer had wanted to watch it with Emily seeing as she also enjoyed watching movies (regardless of the language). “According to the synopsis, a young Russian solider earned a medal but asked to see his mother instead and it is supposed to recount his journey of various kinds of love during wartime.”
You nod your head, hanging on to every word Spencer had just said. To be honest, you are probably going to regret this sometime in the future but since the opportunity is presenting itself, you swallowed your pride and turn to look at him. “Do you mind if I join you instead? I know I am no Emily, but I happen to be free.”
Spencer’s eyes lit up. “Really, Y/N?” A smile appears on Spencer’s face when you nod your head to his question. “That’s really great! I was really looking forward to watching the movie ever since I came across the flyer for the Russian Film Festival. As far as I know, we don’t have a case tomorrow so, is it too soon if we go right after work?”
Your heart races against your chest and you nod your head dumbly. You hadn’t exactly expected Spencer to ask you so soon – then again, you reckon he must have been really excited to watch the movie. “Sure, that’s fine with me too.”
Spencer beams at you. “Looking forward to it.”
Spencer still has a smile on his face as the two of you walk out of the outdoor theatre – the night was really nice, not too humid nor too dry. It was just perfect, surprisingly. He looks at you and the smile on his face widens even more. “Thank you for coming with me, Y/N.” He informs you shyly and you give him a smile that manages to steal his breath away. You aren’t privy to this information, but Spencer has found himself developing feelings for you for a while now. If Spencer had to place a time, his attraction to you had probably started when you actually listened to him when he began rambling away about facts and genuinely looked like you were interested in what he is talking about. When he started hanging out with you outside of the office, Spencer had been elated to find out that you are such a fun person to be around with. With your cheery disposition and your attitude towards life in general, Spencer finds himself always looking forward to whenever the two of you can exchange stories or facts about this and that.
You, on the other hand, are starting to feel slightly guilty because not only had Spencer bought the popcorn and drinks for the movie, he had also paid for your ticket. The two of you are currently walking towards the car park which was a block or so away from where the film festival is happening and despite not understanding an ounce of Russian, you had actually enjoyed the movie (you made up dialogues in your mind in place of what was actually said). “It was nothing, Spencer. Thank you for agreeing to bring me along.” You tell him, seeing your cute car in a distance.
Spencer smiles. “I enjoy spending time with you, Y/N.” He really does; Spencer swallows the lump in his throat before he calls out your name, stopping you from heading towards your car. You raise an eyebrow at Spencer. “Actually, there is something I would like to tell you.”
You slowly turn to face him.
“Actually… I had been too afraid to ask you out so Emily and I came up with this elaborate idea of Emily not being able to come with me to this festival and of course, Penelope, the romantic that she is, wanted in on our plan and well, you see, I just…” Spencer trails off slightly, gauging your expression. To his surprise, you are staring at him in shock, but Spencer can also see the blush starting to creep over your cheeks. “I like you, Y/N. More than just a friend that is, if you needed any more clarification.”
You must have entered twilight zone somewhere in between the outdoor theater and on the way to the parking lot because you definitely did not see this coming! You always had an indication that Spencer might share the same feelings as you however you didn’t want to be too full of yourself and assume things – only to end up in disappointment so you tried your hardest to just play it cool. Now, hearing all of this from Spencer’s very own mouth, you are convinced that your face almost resembles a tomato.
But before Spencer could even continue talking, you cut him off. “I have a confession to make as well.” You rub the back of your neck sheepishly and Spencer looks taken aback by what you had just said before he looks slightly wary and apprehensive. “It’s nothing bad!” You quickly rectify but Spencer still looks wary. So, you take a deep breath and exhale. “I, uh, actually I don’t understand Russian at all. Not an ounce, nope.” You shake your head but when you see Spencer about to open his mouth, you lift up your hand to stop him. “I have a massive crush on you, Spencer and I just didn’t want to ruin our friendship because what if you hadn’t liked me back?”
Spencer furrows his eyebrows before he shakes his head. “No wonder. There was a point during the movie when I turned to look at you and you looked completely lost, Y/N. You should have told me you didn’t know Russian – there was also a showing with subtitles.” Spencer informs you but then he clears his throat. “So, can I walk you to your car?”
You blink a couple of times and nod your head, a smile appearing on your face. “Of course, Spencer.”

right next to me
Jareau! reader is back to make her appearance again! and after that last episode, I feel like I had to write this. It didn’t turn out the way I had expected it to but I think it was alright enough. There are probably mistakes as usual so I’d like to apologize about that. Hope you enjoy!
p/s: I will be finishing up the current requests that I have; sorry it’s taking me longer than initially expected to work my way through them.
word: 1386 words
pairing: Spencer Reid x Jareau! Reader
summary: after what happened, you just needed to get away from Spencer and from JJ.
Tumblr media
“Will you ever actually tell me what’s bothering you, dear?”
You look up from the photos you have been staring at and quickly wipe away the tears that managed to roll down your cheeks. Your mum furrows her eyebrows and you sit up, carelessly dropping your phone somewhere behind you. “I don’t know if I’m ever ready to talk about it, Ma.”
Sandy bites back the comment that threatens to leave her mouth and pushes the door open wider so that she could walk in to your room. She places the mug on the bedside table and sits down near you. “As much as I love having you here, Y/N and believe me, I will always love having my girls with me – it has been almost a week and JJ has yet to stop ringing me, asking me if you are here.” From the corner of her eyes, she catches you flinching at the sound of your sister’s name and she reaches for your hand, engulfing it with both of hers.
Your eyes start to tear up once again and you bit your lower lip just so you would not burst out crying. Your vision is starting to get blurry and you sniffle, swallowing the lump in your throat. It has been almost a week since you have seen anyone – when you had found out about Spencer’s latest case, you never thought it could change your world. But it did and you aren’t sure how to fix it at all. Deep down inside, you have always been afraid; what if Spencer had only gotten together with you because you were the next best thing to your own sister?
“Your gears are showing, Y/N.” Sandy murmurs and you bring your free hand up to run your fingers through your hair. “Does this have anything to do with why you have been crying and coped up in this room?”
You slowly nod your head, dropping your hand to your lap. “How do I know that he isn’t just with me because he couldn’t be with JJ, Ma?” You ask her, trying your hardest not to let your voice quiver under the hurt, the confusion and the fear form your words having any truth behind it.
Sandy inhales sharply, causing you to look at your mother with wide, teary eyes, surprised by her reaction to your words. “Do you hear yourself, Y/N? That boy is absolutely in love with you – anyone with working eyes can see that.” She tells you sternly and before you can even open your mouth to refute, she shakes her head. “No, now it is your turn to listen to me, darling. That Doctor of yours is crazy in love with you; I may not know well what happened, but I know for sure, that Spencer only has eyes for you.” She lifts one hand to cup your face and she uses her thumb to wipe away your tears. “He may have had those feelings for your older sister but that was a long time ago, wasn’t it? Has he ever mentioned having any feelings for your sister now? I don’t want you throwing your chance at happiness because you have these doubts, doubts that you should actually be talking to Spencer with.” You look away from your mum’s face, knowing that she is actually saying the truth, no matter how much you did not want to listen to those words. “You don’t actually believe Spencer loves your sister more than you? Have you given him a chance to talk to you?”
You shake your head, embarrassed at how you had simply upped and left without telling any of them. The first day you had arrived at your mum’s place, Spencer had called you non-stop and sent you multiple texts even and perhaps you had been too engrossed in your own hurt that you failed to realise that the man who rarely likes to text did in fact text you, multiple times. It wasn’t until you sent him a text telling him you needed a bit of time to sort out your feelings that the calls and texts gradually ceased. Now, it is already the seventh day since you arrived, and Spencer never fails to send you a text every morning and every night.
“No, I didn’t. I should have; I was just too focus on my own fears that I didn’t even give him a chance to talk at all.” You murmur but since it was just the two of you in the room, it was loud enough for your mum to hear and she pats your hand.
“Good, I take it that you know what to do now?” Sandy asks and you slowly nod your head. “I know it might be hard right now but just talk with Spencer.” She pulls you in for a hug and places a kiss on your temple. You nod your head and wrap an arm around her, burying your face on her shoulder.
“Thank you, Ma.”
After double checking with Garcia (she had given you an earful for taking off and not giving Spencer a chance to talk) about Spencer’s availability, you find yourself standing outside Spencer’s apartment with your luggage. Since that talk with your mum, you finally came to terms that you are only hurting Spencer and yourself for letting your own insecurities get to your head. So you gingerly knocked on his door – you hadn’t feel this nervous since the first time the two of you had gone on a date.
It takes Spencer a few minutes to open the door and when he opened the door and saw you standing there, Spencer almost drop the tie he had been holding. His eyes are wide as he takes in the sight of you. The last time the two of you parted, it hadn’t been really been on great terms so Spencer is more than nervous. He had missed you immensely – normally, even when he is on his cases, Spencer spends a few minutes talking to you every night before the both of you go to sleep and when you stopped picking up his calls or returning his messages, Spencer felt incomplete, like half of him was missing. (This was not far from the truth – you were missing from his side at that time).
Before Spencer could even get the chance to say anything, you immediately speak up “Spencer, I am so sorry for letting my insecurities get to me. Can you ever forgive me for hurting us?” You apologized, closing your eyes in the process, afraid of looking into Spencer’s face for fear of seeing something you did not want to see. When Spencer fails to reply immediately, you fear for the worse and just as you are about to open your eyes, a pair of arms gingerly wrap themselves around you and you are pulled to his chest. Your eyes shot open and you look up only to see Spencer looking at you with eyes so full of emotions, you actually teared up. “I’m really sorry, Spence.”
Spencer tightens his hold on you and shakes his head. “It’s alright.” He presses his nose against your hair, inhaling the scent that he has missed over the past week. Honestly, what happened during the case had scared him because Spencer knew if word ever reached you, you would be hurt over what had happened and just like he predicted, you were hurt. However, what Spencer had not counted on was the probability of you leaving for a while and that was when he realized that you take up so much presence in his life that he was lost without you. “It’s alright.” He murmurs and that is when Spencer feels your arms slowly snaking around his own waist and you hugged him back.
Spencer reckons the two of you have a lot to talk about but regardless of that fact, he knows he will work his hardest to keep you with him and even if this means convincing you just how much he loves you for the rest of his life, that is what he will strive to do. But right now, Spencer just wants to bask in the feeling of having you back in his arms. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too, Spence.”

a little push
This was requested by an anon and I am sorry if it was not what you expected it to be. I was supposed to post this two days ago but I didn’t get the chance to because I’d been busy trying to tie up some loose ends. There are definitely mistakes, probably a whole lot of them, so do forgive me for those!
word: 1193 words
pairing: spencer reid x reader
summary: spencer just needed that extra push quite literally.
Tumblr media
Dr Spencer Reid tries to ignore it; he really did try his hardest but Garcia’s gaze was just too piercing and intense to the point that Spencer could no longer ignore it so with a sigh, Spencer dog-eared the page he had been staring – not reading, only staring at the same sentence for the past thirty minutes, mind wandering around – and he looks at Garcia. “Penelope.”
Garcia huffs indignantly, finally getting the attention she has been desperately trying to get since she heard the news like thirty minutes ago. She glances over her shoulder once and peers down at Spencer. “Did you know?”
Spencer thinks about nothing and almost everything at once upon hearing that question coming from Garcia’s mouth and he blinks, trying his hardest to not react in the way Garcia is expecting him to. He nods his head curtly. “Yes, I did.”
Garcia frowns as she leans closer to Spencer, ignoring how he shifts slightly to create some space between the two of them. Even though she herself isn’t a profile, being around them for over a decade has definitely taught her a thing or two about profiling someone. “And?” She asks incredulously. “Are you just going to let Y/N date that – that – “
Spencer cuts her off immediately, not wanting to even hear the name of the person who had the guts to ask you out on a date. “Yes, Penelope.” He says tersely. “We broke up for a reason and Y/N is… Well, Y/N is free to date with whoever Y/N chooses to date.” He tries to shrug it off coolly but as soon as the words left his mouth, Spencer could feel the bitterness it left in its wake.
To be honest, Spencer hadn’t really expected you to move on this quickly: the two of you had only separated two weeks ago and up until now, it really hasn’t dawn on him just yet. It also slightly helped that the team had gotten a case and it took over a week for them to settle that too. But that aside, Spencer also still cannot get over the fact that the two of you broke up over something as silly sounding as who gets to do the chores in the apartment.
Thinking about the apartment where Spencer had conveniently tried avoided as soon as he got back from the case, he feels the unpleasant burn of regret in his stomach and his heart pounds viciously against his chest as he thinks about the apartment the two of you got together. Spencer wants to go back but at the same time, he is afraid that he might run in to you. Spencer’s just not ready to look at you without hurting immensely.
Spencer is then snapped out of his train of thoughts when Garcia hits the back of his head lightly, catching him by surprise and he stares at his close friend in shock. “Garcia!” He straightens up and opens his mouth to retort when Garcia shushes him.
“No, you listen here, Dr Spencer Reid with an IQ of 187!” Garcia says sharply, the frown on her face deepening. (Spencer has learned long ago whenever Garcia pulls something just like that, it is best that he listens). “I love you very much, Spencer and I say this with all the love that I have in my entire being, for someone so smart, you are so dumb, Spencer!”
Spencer winces slightly and he continues to stare at Garcia, knowing that once Garcia starts her rants, it will take her a few to get it all out of her system. “The both of us know that you are only lying to yourself and no one else! You obviously still love Y/N – why are you so nonchalant about Y/N going on a date with some guy who thinks he has a chance with her?” She asks incredulously, eyes wide in disbelief.
Spencer looks away, wincing at the remainder of… basically everything. Spencer didn’t need to have Garcia telling him how much of a fool he is being because every single day since that incident, Spencer has been filled with pain, regret and heartache. It has been exactly 14 days, 366 hours, 20,160 minuets and 1,209,600 seconds and counting. Mulling over what Garcia has said for a few seconds, Spencer finally relents, and he sighs, sagging slightly as he throws a look at Garcia. “What should I do now, Penelope?”
Garcia opens her mouth only to close it quickly, shaking her head. She hadn’t really expected The Boy Genius to actually give in so quickly – she had actually prepared some speech just in case Spencer had been too stubborn to see how miserable and lonely he has been so to hear those words coming from his mouth, Garcia is at a loss of words. “Um – “
Spencer shakes his head. “It’s okay, Penelope: I shouldn’t be asking ideas from you – I… I was the one who messed up so I should be the one to come up with a plan to win Y/N back…” He trails off before turning around to look at Penelope who blinks back. “However, I do need help from you in one aspect.”
“Name it.”
“Is there by any chance you can find out where they are going for the date?” Spencer asks warily and Garcia smirks, feeling the burden finally lifting off of her shoulders. She really hated seeing her family members depressed, miserable and lonely – which can be found in Spencer – and Spencer is her family forever.
“I can do you one better, Boy Genius: how about you clean yourself up, make sure you get all the things that Y/N likes – although, not everything because that would just be a little bit too much; we want Y/N to accept you back, not scare her away. So, get things that Y/N likes and meet me back here as soon as you possibly can!”
Spencer furrows his eyebrows. “Now?”
Garcia grabs Spencer’s arms and pulls him up. She grabs his messenger bag and all but shoves it into Spencer’s arms. “Okay, I happen to have the privilege of the restaurant name so go and get clean! I’ll text you the details as soon as.” Garcia orders, ushering him towards the elevator and Spencer sputters through his words.
“Garcia, I still have work to do – Emily is going to be mad.” Spencer sputters and Garcia shakes her head, pushing him in the elevator.
“We want you to be happy, Spencer so go home, get changed and be ready to woo back your Y/N!” Garcia didn’t even give him a chance to say anything as she presses the ground floor button and leaves the elevator, standing right in front of the doors until they close, leaving Spencer standing in the elevator, holding on to his bag and feeling extremely confused and a little bit worried.
Spencer swallows the sigh and the frown on his face deepens. “I can do this.” He murmurs quietly and nods his head. He isn’t going to let his own ego and pride stop him from getting you back and potentially losing you forever. “I have to.”

Omygod first I was so happy that you wrote a sequel to Friends, and now I’m crying 😭 In the beginning I had a little schadenfreude because how dare he break up with us, but pleeeease write a part two and make him happy again 😭 And don’t be so insecure about your writing, your writing is awesome and I really enjoy your stories!
Hi, I’m really glad you enjoyed reading both friends and happier but unfortunately, I never really intended on writing a sequel to both friends and happier so we’ll probably never get to see Spencer being happy in that verse :(

I sended you a request a few months ago, and idk if you read. It's something like the reader and Reid working together for a while and he is so annoying and rude with the reader, so one day Reid is so so rude that reader decides to go after him when he goes to the bathroom, and enter there and something happens... and you can use your imagination to write about whats happen there. I love your fics and your Tumblr 💛
yes, yes! I have this request still in my inbox and no worries, i will try my hardest to do it as soon as. Although I’m not sure if I will be able to post anything that’s nsfw? (i haven’t kept up with what’s been happening in regard to that bit of tumblr!)

hot for teacher
The title is not original, that’s for sure. Sorry for being absent for a while - it is currently final weeks and I had been busy with sitting for final exams, preparing presentations and writing my final reports. I have two more to write for that’s due next week but that aside, thank you so much for sending this in! I hope this was what you (essentially) wanted. There are definitely mistakes here and there so I hope you will still enjoy reading this.
word: 1222 words
pairing: spencer reid x reader
summary: third time’s the charm and Spencer is definitely charmed.
Tumblr media
It takes Spencer everything within him not to glance in your direction at all, considering how often his curiosity gets the best of him. The first time he noticed you entering the class, Spencer had (unfortunately) stuttered slightly over his word but before anyone can actually pick up how he had stuttered, Spencer cleared his throat and continued talking about The Great Gatsby and what he actually wanted from his students.
The second time you entered the class, Spencer made a mistake in looking over in your direction - you were seated at the very far back, closer to the door - and regretfully, the lecture hall had been dimmed that day (Spencer was showing his students a part of The Great Gatsby movie and what he wanted them to analyze) so Spencer, despite his twenty-twenty vision, cannot actually see your face very clearly. Although, despite the dim light, Spencer can still make out the beautiful smile on your face very clearly and this smile often haunts his mind whenever he isn’t busy looking through the students he is supervising and the assignments he had assigned to his classes.
Again, unfortunately for Spencer, since he can read over 20,000 words per minutes, this meant that he is quick to go through all of the assignments, corrections, etcetera that he needed to do and therefore gave him a lot of time to think about you.
The third time you came in the class surprised Spencer the most. To the point where Spencer almost dropped the pointer he had been using because you had chosen that time to casually walk up to the second row and sit directly in his line of vision. Now, Spencer is not a big believer on love at first sight because he personally believes that there are just more than good looks to make him fall in love with someone but right at that moment, when his eyes land on your face, Spencer swears his breath is stolen from him and he is at a loss of word.
Which in hindsight had been really bad for Spencer because he had been explaining about the relation to and importance of The Great Gatsby as a work of art. He had not even realised he had stopped talking until you clear your throat and Spencer blushes so furiously, he turned his back to his students as he hurriedly went to the table where he had dumped his messenger bag. “As I was saying, this book works on the mind of the reader in two ways: first by presenting the real world and its appearance is ugly at best through the eyes of Nick Carraway and second by presenting Gatsby’s fantasy world. I want you to discuss this for your next paper which will be due the week after the next.” Spencer easily gets back to the momentum he had before he had been interrupted by you.
“Dr. Reid, does that mean there won’t be any class next week?”
Spencer stiffens when he hears his name being called because he knows almost all of his students’ voices. He gulps and tries his hardest not to look too nervous before he turns around, his eyes landing immediately on yours and you give him a cheeky smile. “Yes, fortunately for everyone, there will not be any class next week because I have to go to a conference.” Spencer mentally applauds at how steady his voice comes out and when you still would not look away, Spencer tears his eyes away from you and looks around the class. “As always, if you have any questions about your essay or not quite sure what direction you are going with what you have written, you are welcomed to email me at any times.” He reminds his class and walks back to his table. “Class dismissed. See you in two weeks!”
Spencer hears some of his students saying goodbye to him and Spencer takes his time to pack up his things. He glances at his watch; he still has ten minutes before JJ’s class ends and he had promised his best friend that he will join Garcia and her for lunch. Spencer knows if he decides to take a rain check on this lunch date, they will probably track him down and grill him. Or maybe Garcia will, JJ might just stand at the back to look at the two of them in amusement.
“Dr. Reid?”
Spencer drops his copy of The Great Gatsby to the floor, startled by the voice and he swallows the lump in his throat as he slowly bends down to pick up his book. From his peripheral vision, he can see another set of legs standing not far from him and his heart starts to race slightly. Once he picked up his book, Spencer straightens up and turns around.
You give him an apologetic smile. “Sorry for catching you off-guard.” You tell him sheepishly and he shakes his head, placing his book on top of his messenger bag.
“You seem to be doing that a lot.” Spencer has no idea where he had suddenly gained the confidence to actually say this to you. “Catching me off-guard.” Spencer adds quietly but since you are close enough to him, you can hear him loud and clear. Your eyes widen slightly upon hearing those words and Spencer ducks his head, regretting the decision to cut his long hair short. He clears his throat. “Out of curiosity, why have you been sitting in my classes? I know everyone in this class and you are definitely not one of them...”
You nod your head. “I wanted to ask you out on a date.” You say earnestly causing Spencer to cough a couple of times and he stares at you in disbelief. “I am actually Penelope’s friend - we were supposed to meet a few weeks ago but you kept rescheduling and I was curious.” You shrug your shoulders.
Spencer furrows his eyebrows. “Penelope’s friend…?” He remembers in passing the amount of times Garcia has talked about you but he had never been an active participant of the conversation, content with just listening to JJ and her talking. “Oh.” He flushes slightly. “A date?”
“Yes, a date. I hope you aren’t too thrown off by women who are forward.” You tell him as you step closer but still maintaining the distance between the two of you. “Your lecture today was pretty interesting, Dr. Reid. Very engaging too and suffice to say, I am now interested in picking up my own copy of The Great Gatsby and read through it.”
Spencer perks up at that, his embarrassment long forgotten. “You haven’t read The Great Gatsby?” He asks and when you shake your head, Spencer furrows his eyebrows. Picking up his own copy, he caresses the book for a few seconds and hands it over to you. “How about I lend this to you?”
You raise one of your eyebrows at him and accept the book he is offering to you. “Are you sure, Dr. Reid?”
Spencer pulls on his tie slightly. “Please call me Spencer. May I know what’s your name?”
The smile you give him in reward for asking his name causes his ears to turn red and he shyly meets your gaze. “Hi, Spencer. My name is Y/N.”

it’s you
This was sort of inspired by episode 14 and this happened! There are definitely mistakes here and there so I apologize for that! Hope you enjoy this at least!!
word: 788 words
pairing: spencer reid x reader
summary: love at first sight might be rare but attraction on first sight sure isn’t.
Tumblr media
“It’s date.”
The smile on your face falters slightly and you bite the inside of your cheek, contemplating if you should still continue to walk over to where Spencer is currently sitting away from the rest of the team but concluded that it would bring more attention to you if you simply backpedaled to where the rest is sitting. So, you straighten your shoulders and head over to the seat right in front of Spencer. When he sees you sit down, Spencer gives you a small smile and you give him one in return, looking away to give him a little bit of privacy.
Today marks two weeks since you have started working with the BAU team and so far, you have settled in quite nicely with the entire team and getting along well with everyone. However, despite that, you have one huge problem and that problem is currently sitting right in front of you. Glancing at Spencer from the corner of your eye, you don’t remember when you had started liking him for more than just his looks.
From the moment you had seen Dr. Spencer Reid right up front, you were attracted to him. There was just something about him that appealed to you and you honestly thought that would be it – obviously, you weren’t planning on complicating your own life but falling in love with a co-worker but sometimes, things just don’t go the way you plan. Not that you are in love with Spencer or anything, but you simply enjoy watching him.
Maybe your downfall had been when he started breaking out his random facts and statistics – you have never learned so much new information in a day. Maybe you are also attracted to his intelligence because Spencer is really intelligent and knows very well what he is talking about. Although the team tries to stop literally everyone from asking Spencer about this or that, you would always jump at the chance to listen to him prattling about things.
Be as it may, you also currently have one more problem. For the past two weeks, you have gotten to know Spencer more and you like to think that the two of you are great friends now – almost always having breakfast every day and occasionally getting dinners or take-outs together as well – you aren’t sure if Spencer likes you back or not.
“Y/N?”
You are startled out of your train of thoughts when you hear Spencer’s voice softly calling out your name and you flush slightly when you look up to see Spencer staring at you with a hint of worry evident on his face. “Are you alright?”
You nod your head. “I was just thinking about a few things.” You tell him, not really wanting to admit that you had been thinking about the beautiful man sitting in front of you. Spencer seems dissatisfied with your answer but nods his head regardless.
“So, I was wondering if you would like to go out for lunch with me when we land later?” Spencer clears his throat, looking at you expectantly and you blink a couple of times, taken aback by his boldness.
You furrow your eyebrows. “I thought we are meeting up with the team for lunch at Rossi’s?” You briefly recalled the entire team agreeing to meet at Rossi’s house because he had invited everyone over for lunch.
Spencer nods his head; his cheeks are starting to turn the tiniest bit of red now. “Yes, he did. However, I am asking if you would like to go with me…” Spencer blinks a couple of times. “As my date, that is.” He mutters almost shyly.
Your jaw drops the slightest bit and you are probably looking very unattractive right now, but you just can’t seem to wrap it around your head. “I’m sorry, what?” You stammer out, feeling your face flushing very badly.
Encouraged by your reaction, Spencer reaches over the table to hold a few of your fingers. “Would you do me the honors of being my date to Rossi’s lunch?” Seeing the blush spreading over your face makes Spencer feels giddy. When JJ and Garcia pushed him to go after you, Spencer had actually been wary. The last time he had a relationship, that turned out disastrous, but JJ managed to convince him to give you a chance because she apparently saw the attraction between him and you.
You turn your hand around and lace your fingers with Spencer, giving him a shy smile. “Yes, I’d love to.” The smile Spencer gives you in return almost throws you off because although you have seen him smile brightly before, this is the first time the smile is directed at you.
“It’s a date then.”

happier
I don’t know who it was but someone requested a part II to friends and honestly, i hadn’t been planning on writing a part II because i personally think i’m just so bad with writing sequels but i sort of found an inspiration to write and then it took a worser turn. anyways, hope you will still enjoy reading this regardless of the many grammar mistakes!
word: 1036 words
pairing: past! spencer reid x reader
note: friends / although this can also be read on its own.
summary: He was happier with you, he really was.
Tumblr media
31 days, 744 hours, 44,640 minutes and 2,678,400 seconds.
A month.
That is how long Spencer has been apart from you – or rather, that is how long it has been since Spencer unintentionally drove you away from not just his life but from everyone else as well (oh, JJ and Garcia had not been very happy with him at all and Spencer reckons Blake is slightly disappointed with him and how he had handled everything).
It is also the same amount of time Spencer had spent trying to stop talking so much with Maeve. She used to occupy his mind a lot – there was never a day where he didn’t think about Maeve – but after the way you had gratefully thanked him and the way the two of you had parted, everything suddenly left a very bitter and sour taste in Spencer’s mouth. The first few times he had tried talking to Maeve, Spencer just could not get his mind focused at all and it hurt.
Sometimes, Spencer wished he didn’t have an eidetic memory because today had been one of those days where he had woken up from another nightmare (involving you) and the image is just constantly playing in his mind like a loop. It also didn’t help that Spencer had fallen asleep to memories of his time spent with you. He honestly wonders where he had gone wrong with you.
Spencer is startled out of his train of thoughts when a hand is placed on his shoulder, lightly gripping it and he looks up to see JJ looking at him, very concerned. She hands him a cup of team – Chamomile from the smell of it – and sits across of him. He tries to give her a small smile, but JJ knows him far too well.
“How are you holding up?” JJ asks quietly. It had been a tiring day – almost everyone is running on fumes now and no one had a clue yet as to where the Unsub could be at the moment.
Spencer furrows his eyebrows and settles with a shrug. “The last time I had a migraine had been four days ago. A feat in itself.” He tries to lighten up the atmosphere, but his voice sounded weak and judging from the look JJ is giving him, he isn’t doing a very good job. “Is it… I feel like this is something I deserved, JJ. I hurt Y/N to the point where all I can think about now is just Y/N and she deserved better than me… and I…” Spencer swallows thickly. “I miss her, JJ.”
JJ reaches over the table to hold on to Spencer’s hand and he tightens his hold on JJ’s hand slightly. “I know, Spence and I miss Y/N too.” JJ contemplates something and shakes her head. “Have you tried contacting her again?”
Spencer pulls his hand away from JJ to grab on to his phone. He opens his call logs and shows it to JJ. “I tried but Y/N must have changed her phone number and Garcia’s still mad at me, so she didn’t even want to help me track Y/N down.” Garcia had been really close to you and truthfully, Spencer understands why Garcia is no longer willing to help him but he honestly had not mean for you be hurt at all.
JJ doesn’t miss the amount of calls Spencer had placed over the past month and she swallows a sigh. “Maybe she needs more time, Spence.” JJ almost regrets letting those words leave her mouth because Spencer visibly flinches and seems to withdraw more into himself, pulling his phone away from JJ and stuffing it in his messenger bag. “I thought things were going well with Maeve.”
Spencer nods his head. “I thought so too but…” Spencer can feel tears starting to well in his eyes, so he blinks a few times to stop himself from shedding a few tears in front of JJ. After all, he did bring this upon himself. “I thought I could find with Maeve what I couldn’t find with Y/N and without realizing, what I have wanted had been with Y/N all along and I ruined it. I ruined us, JJ.”
Just as JJ is about to open her mouth to refute, the click-clacking of heels rushing towards them can be heard and both of them turn to look at the door. Garcia appears a moment later, out of breath and when she looks up, JJ and Spencer immediately stand up. Garcia’s eyes are red, and she looks as if she has been crying or at least, trying to stop herself from crying.
“Oh my God, Oh my God.” Garcia presses her hand to her chest. JJ is the first to reach her and she helps Garcia over to where she had been talking with Spencer. “You know how a month ago you broke up with Y/N?” Garcia turns to look at Spencer and he immediately stiffens up upon hearing that reminder. “So, I wasn’t going to tell you but things got out of hand and now,” The tears that she tried so hard to hold back are streaming down her cheeks, “So I have Y/N’s name flagged just in case and I know I should be doing this but I had to and a report just came in and Y/N’s been shot and she’s in critical condition and they don’t know if she will make it – oh!” Garcia stops talking the moment the cup Spencer had been holding falls to the ground, breaking in to pieces.
“Penelope,” Spencer’s voice breaks and he shakes his head. “Tell me where Y/N is, please.” Suddenly, Spencer feels his body being taken over by absolute fear and the ringing in his ears grew loud and he can feel his heart thudding and racing against his chest. “Please…”
Garcia shakes her head, leaning into JJ. “I can’t, Spence. Her whereabouts are classified, and I can’t help. I am so, so, sorry!” JJ hugs Garcia and glances over at Spencer who is staring at them hopelessly, almost lifelessly and for the first time since a while, JJ wishes she can take away all of Spencer’s pain because he didn’t deserve it at all.

high for you
I have been so bad at updating anything at all and I have no excuses. I started watching Criminal Minds from the beginning again and I am so sad that season 15 is their final season. So I decided to start writing again and I am going through some of the requests I received last year (thankfully, I only have 10 to work on!) and I am so pumped to write once again.
requested by: anon
word: 752 words
pairing: established! spencer reid x reader
note: so, i finished writing this with your request in mind and i think i only managed to do half of what you’ve requested here because after that i realized i went so far from what you’ve requested but I still hope you enjoy this! there are definitely mistakes so i apologize for that!
summary: you can’t be my boyfriend; you’re too handsome.
Tumblr media
Spencer is currently going through his fourth book of the hour when you finally begin to stir, letting out a small groan as your fingers twitch. He quickly sets aside the book he had been reading and reaches for your hand, smiling at how you were just looking a tad bit too adorable for him right at that moment. However, despite the smile on his face, Spencer still cannot help but feel worried: he doesn’t think this (constant) worry for you will ever go away though – it comes with being in a relationship and Spencer happens to really like being in a relationship with you.
Spencer watches you try to open your eyes, before letting out another groan. You lazily lift a hand to your face and promptly drop it on your forehead, catching Spencer by surprise. “Y/N?” He calls out your name quietly and you moan in dissatisfaction. This time, you actually managed to open your eyes and blink a couple of times as you tried to adjust to the sudden light. “Hey, sleepy head.” Spencer says endearingly, relieved to see those pair of beautiful eyes.
Upon hearing his voice, you let your hand slide down your face, and you turn to look at him in confusion. Mind still hazy, you furrow your eyebrows as you continue to stare at him, trying your hardest to place a name to the face in front of you. “Hey,” You lift up a hand to point at Spencer’s general direction, “You look like my boyfriend.” Your words are slightly slurred, and it just occurs to you that you cannot actually feel much of your mouth. “Why do you look so much like my boyfriend?”
Spencer is torn between wanting to chuckle at this and being worried over how you are still slightly high on anesthesia. “It’s most definitely because I am your boyfriend, Y/N.” As a matter of fact, the two of you have been dating for almost a year now – in about less than a week, Spencer reminds himself – and deep down inside, he is somewhat surprised that this relationship he has with you is still going strong.
Given the nature of both of your job (DA) and his (SSA), Spencer had expected the worse to happen but somehow, you always managed to prove him wrong and he can’t say that the two of you never have any disagreements but the two of you are always willing to listen first instead of jumping in to conclusions.
The frown on your face seems to deepen and you shake your head. “That can’t be.” You huff, jabbing him on his chest, causing Spencer to wince – for someone who is still under anesthesia, you are still pretty strong. “Don’t fucking lie to me, mister.” You try to jab him once more, but Spencer grabs on to your hand, holding it lightly. Your eyes are drawn to your hand in his and your mouth drops slightly before you turn to look at him once more. “My boyfriend is going to be so mad when he sees this, mister; are you trying to pick a fight with him?”
Spencer chuckles this time. Using his free hand, he takes out his phone and decides to record – he rarely ever gets presented by such a blackmail material opportunity before, you have some many photos and videos of him on your phone so Spencer would like to have something of you with him too. “He won’t be mad, Y/N. Do you know why?” Spencer asks you and you shake your head, blinking a few times. “Because I am your boyfriend and I am not lying.”
You stare at him in surprise. “You are too handsome; are you sure you’re my boyfriend?” You curl your fingers in his palm, liking how warm his hand is. “Hey, can I have your hand?”
Spencer chuckles quietly and nods his head. “You already have it, Y/N.” He tells you and makes sure he stops filming before he sets his phone aside. Spencer leans forward and presses his lips against your forehead, causing you to gasp and he looks down, worried that he might have aggravated your injury or something. “Are you alright? Do you want me to call the nurse?”
You give a cheeky smile, shaking your head. “You are so handsome upfront – I am so lucky I am your girlfriend!” You pointed out to him and Spencer lets out a sigh before he shakes his head sheepishly.
“I am the lucky one here, Y/N.”

I might not post anything today since I’m currently in a bus on our way back but as soon as I get enough rest (on a proper bed!!) and finish my report, I will work on your requests!

p/s: i was supposed to post this the previous day but i was away from my laptop + internet so I couldn’t post it. Thank you for sending in your requests, will work on them soon! x
Word: 1340 words
Pairing: Spencer Reid x Reader
Summary: It’s not always that the team has some free time, so Spencer decides to go see you instead.
Tumblr media
“Are you going to join us, kid? Rossi’s treat.” Derek informs as he walks down the steps from his office. Spencer looks up from the report he had been trying to write and shakes his head, causing Derek to pause abruptly – he had intended to head towards the door – and he stops in front of Spencer’s desk instead, an all-knowing, smug expressed plastered on his face. “Or do you have plans with your lady friend?” He wriggles his eyebrows, teasing Spencer and Spencer huffs, looking back at his report. Despite his actions, Derek can still see the tips of Spencer’s ears turning red slightly and he chuckles. “Just messing around with you, kid.”
Spencer looks up from his report once more to look at Derek. “We made plans to go out for lunch on Friday, so I will be seeing her in two days’ time.” Spencer explains and then he frowns; Spencer wonders briefly if you have been thinking about him just as much as he has been thinking about you. “I kind of want to see Y/N though.”
Derek chuckles, nodding his head. “Why not?” He asks, glancing at the watch. The rest of the team most definitely would not mind him arriving late to the bar, especially since he is talking to his little brother. “I’m sure Hotch wouldn’t be opposed to you taking that report back with you – I also heard that the flower shop around the corner closes late.” Derek offers to Spencer casually.
(Out of everyone in the team, Derek had been the first-person Spencer confided. In about his growing feelings for you so it is really no one’s surprise that Derek is often seen pushing and helping Spencer out).
Spencer nods his head and quickly packs his report, shoving most of his paperwork in his messenger bag and gives Derek a pleased smile. “I know just the perfect flowers to get Y/N.” Spencer pushes his hair away from his face, curling some of them behind his ears and he grabs his messenger bag, standing up from his chair. “I hope Y/N is free tonight though.” Spencer doesn’t recall you ever mentioning anything to him about your plans (or lack thereof) tonight – the last text the two of them had exchanged had been from you to confirm about Friday.
“You know the answer to that, kid.” Derek gives Spencer’s shoulder a pat. “Come on, let’s go. I can drop you off.”
Sighing in annoyance, you throw your body on the sofa and drop your phone beside you. “Unbelievable.” You grumble under your breath as you thought about your ruined plan. You were supposed to meet up with a few of your closest friends for dinner but somehow, most of them cancelled at the very last minute due to work and you even wore one of your best dresses that rarely ever see the light. So now, you are dressed quite nicely with nowhere to go and an empty stomach. “I should have just eaten earlier.” You murmur to yourself as you pat your stomach – you have yet to buy groceries, so you know you haven’t got much in your fridge and pantry.
Just as you started daydreaming about a certain love interest, your doorbell rang, surprising you. You sat up and stared at your door in confusion. Cautiously, you pick up your phone, fingers ready to press the speed dial for Spencer – just in case things happen to go south quickly. You head to the door and take a peek through the peep-hole and relief washes over you.
Opening the door, you grin at Spencer. “Hi!” You greet him a little breathlessly – only a few minutes ago you had been thinking about him and here he was in front of you, looking slightly ruffled and tired but there is a small smile on his face as he stares at you in awe.
Spencer takes in the sight in front of him; seeing you wearing a dress is definitely a rare sight seeing as Spencer knows you prefer casual clothes and when he realizes he is staring at you, he flushes slightly – the smile on his face growing bigger. He looks at his hand and realizes that he is still holding the bouquet he had gotten for you so Spencer hands it over to you. “I got these for you.”
Your eyes widen the slightest bit and your cheeks warm, touched at Spencer’s action. You take the bouquet from Spencer’s hand and bring it up to your nose, taking a whiff of the smell. “Oh, thank you so much, Spencer.”
“In 2002, scientists discovered the world’s oldest flower in China and the ancient flower was in bloom around 125 million years ago and it looks like a modern-day water lily.” Spencer shares and you smile at him. Honestly, you missed listening to Spencer sharing random facts with you. “But that isn’t why I am here.” He shifts nervously. “I wanted to ask you if you are free to accompany me for dinner?”
You perk at his question and nod your head. “Yes! I was supposed to meet my girlfriends, but things came up and we had to cancel, and I am famished.” You explain, stomach growling slightly at the thought of being filled with food.
Spencer wouldn’t admit it (not even to you) but he definitely felt relieved when he heard that you were about to meet your girlfriends. Spencer had definitely felt insecure especially since the first time the two of you had gone on a ‘date’ had been close to two months ago and even though the two of you still frequently exchange messages and calls, it didn’t make him feel any better at all – he was still feeling insecure. “I’m sorry your dinner plan had to be canceled.” He offers, and you shake your head.
“I’m not – if I had gone with them, then I wouldn’t have time to spend it with you.” You tell him, cradling your bouquet gingerly. Using your free hand, you push away Spencer’s hair behind his ear and caress his cheek. “I’ve missed seeing your face, you know.” You pointed out and Spencer chuckles, flushing slightly. “I’m going to put these inside and hopefully I can find a vase somewhere!” You pull back and Spencer nods his head, watching you smile brightly at him before making your way inside.
Spencer takes the chance to run his plan in his head for the umpteenth time; if all goes well by the end of the date, he definitely wants to make things more serious between the two of you. He wrings his hands nervously and fixes his hair a couple of times.
A few minutes later, you came out with a cardigan hanging over your arm. Closing the door behind you, you made sure your door was locked and then turned to face Spencer. He smiles warmly at you as he extended his arm towards you. Hooking your arm with Spencer, he is about to lead you away when you let out a gasp and Spencer pauses.
“Did you leave something behind?” Spencer asks, looking back at you and you surprised him by leaning up to press your lips against his. One of Spencer’s hands went to your back and he closes his eyes, pressing his lips harder against yours. Spencer is disappointed when you pulled away.
“Thought we should get that out of the way.” You tell him cheekily and Spencer lifts his hand to cup your face. He leans down and kisses you once more – your lips are really as soft as he thought they would be, and Spencer won’t admit it out loud, but he definitely has thought about your lips and how they would feel against his own lips a lot – and you sigh in pleasure.
Spencer pulls away and hooks your arm with his. “Let’s get dinner.” You nod your head and lean your head against his shoulder as the two of you began walking away from your house, heading to the nearest restaurant

happy wedding
I think I’m very attached to this Jareau! reader idea so here’s another one. This was based on episode 23 of Season 7. Maybe one of these days I’m going to write how spencer and jareau! reader met. (Maybe).
word:
pairing: spencer reid x jareau! reader
summary: Wedding time either brings out the best in people or the worst.
Tumblr media
Seeing Spencer sipping his drink by the table, you immediately head over to your boyfriend, slipping an arm around his waist as you lean into his side. “Hi, Spencer.” You greet him giddily – you aren’t drunk (yet) but you are running on adrenaline though.
The smile on Spencer’s face widens as he pulls you closer to his side, pressing his lips to your temple. “Hi, Y/N.” He pulls his head back slightly to press his lips against yours and you wrap your arm around his neck, pulling his head down so that you can deepen the kiss. Spencer moans lightly into the kiss as you slip your hand in his hair, scratching his nape.
You are the first to pull away, giggling at how Spencer followed you. “I’m so nervous.” You tell him, and Spencer places his glass down on the table before he turns to face you fully. His arm is still wrapped around you, so you press your body against him. “Will told me about his plan and I’m just glad we managed to get Mum to come on such a short notice.” You are still playing with the hair at the back of his neck and Spencer doesn’t seem to mind at all. In fact, he actually enjoys it.
“I’m glad too. Did JJ suspect anything?” Spencer asks, and you shake your head, dropping your hand from Spencer’s hair. “I’m sorry we didn’t get to contact you when things went south.” He really did feel guilty for not informing you, but they had Unsubs to catch and on top of that, they also had to make sure Will and Henry were alright as well. Spencer knows you so well that he knew if he had gone against Hotch’s order, you would have dropped all of your appointments and came straight to the office.
“I was mad earlier but now, I’m over it. I’m just glad nothing happened to any of them.” You shudder; the thought of the female unsub being in your house with your nephew had shook you the most and when you heard that Will had gotten shot and almost got himself blown up for the second time, you might have blacked out for a few seconds – thankfully, you had just finished your shift when you heard of the news and your fellow nurses took great care of you until Spencer came to get you. “And no, I think Jenny’s confused as to why the two are so dressed up – at least that was what I heard before you picked me up earlier.”
Spencer chuckles. “I wasn’t going to let you drive especially when I know you are absolutely tired. Did you know that on average, about 102 people die during car crashes and there were an estimated 5,419,000 crashes which 30,296 are with fatalities, killing 32,999 and injuring 2,239,000.” Spencer explains and if you hadn’t been working in the hospital, you would have been appalled by the amount of fatalities but alas, that is your chosen profession and you nod your head grimly.
“Thank you for picking me up then, Doctor Spencer Reid.” You say cheekily and Spencer chuckles as he shakes his head. He releases you when he spies Rossi talking to JJ, Will and Henry. You follow his gaze and let out a gasp. “I think that’s when I’m supposed to bring my mum.” You give Spencer a quick kiss and before you left him, you turn to him. “Save me a dance later, handsome.” You wink at him and rush to where Rossi is talking with your family.
JJ looks away from the mirror when you finally finished fixing her hair. “So, you knew about this?” She asks, eyes glittering with unshed tears and you smile at her. You lean down and press your lips to your sister’s cheek.
“Both Rossi and Will ran me by their plans and I simply had to get mum on the next flight here and picked her up during break.” You walk away from your sister and pick up your bag. Rummaging through the bag, you take out two items and JJ turns to look at you.
“Y/N…”
You walk back to JJ and sit across of her. “Since mum brought something borrowed, I have something old for you.” You take out the bracelet you had gifted your sister for her SSA promotion and JJ had to look up at the ceiling to stop herself from shedding tears. After putting the bracelet on, you lifted the other present. “This is something new.” You had asked Penelope to print a couple of photos of JJ, Will and Henry and put them together in a scrapbook. “I really had very little time to prepare but Penelope helped me make this.”
JJ didn’t even let you finish talking as she pulled you into a hug, kissing your temple multiple times and you would be lying if you said you didn’t tear up from this. “I love you, Y/N. You are the best little sister I could have ever asked for.” She murmurs as she pulls back, and you giggle, wiping the tears away from your cheeks.
“Alright, Jenny – we need to get you downstairs before Will thinks you are chickening out.” You tease and JJ laughs, shaking her head. A knock resounds and the both of you turned to look at the door just as it opened and your mum walks in.
“My beautiful girls.” She walks over to the both of you and gives the two of you a hug. “Are you ready?” She looks at JJ who looks away from you to look at your mum. JJ takes a deep breath and nods her head.
“I’m ready.”
“May I have this dance, my lady?” Spencer asks as he offers his arm to you. You look at Henry who had been leaning against you, slowly nodding off and you smile at him. Before you can even say no to Spencer, Penelope comes sweeping by, grabbing Henry from you.
“Go!” She whispers at you as she cradles Henry to her chest and you roll your eyes, laughing at her antics.
“Of course.” You offer your hand to Spencer and he pulls you over to the dance floor. Even if he doesn’t quite know how to dance, Spencer thinks it doesn’t matter so long as he gets to be silly with you and you certainly don’t mind either especially when Spencer decides to twirl you around. You end up doing more laughing than actual dancing but that was one of the things you loved about Spencer – he wasn’t afraid to be silly with you.
“I think I might have had too much to drink.” Spencer tells you once the two of you stopped dancing and started swaying to the music instead. You look up at him and giggle quietly to yourself – you rarely ever see Spencer drunk but judging from how dilated his eyes are and how his speech is starting to slur, he is most likely on his way to being drunk. “I’m starting to see two of you.”
You wrap an arm around his torso, just in case and Spencer chuckles as he sips his drink some more. The two of you are back at the table where you had greeted him earlier that day and you see Hotch going around video-taping the rest of the team’s congratulatory speech for your sister and Will. “It’s alright – I didn’t drink much, and I can get the both of us home safely.”
“Home.” Spencer hums appreciatively. “My home is with you, Y/N. Did you know that?” He asks, and you blush slightly. This is the first time Spencer has ever said this to you and even though he is slightly intoxicated, you know he is going to remember this conversation tomorrow.
When Hotch rounds over to Spencer and you, you greet him with a smile and Hotch looks fairly amused at Spencer’s antics. He lifts up the camcorder and focuses on Spencer and you. Spencer takes another sip of his wine and sighs as he looks at everywhere but the camera. “Jennifer Jareau.” He mutters, looking at you before turning back to the camera. “And Will.” Spencer adds as an afterthought.
By this time, you are trying your hardest to keep a straight face because of Spencer’s speech. “I just want to say,” He sways slightly and pulls away from you to stumble against the table, sitting on it as he waves at the number of bags. “I got you these presents.” He nods his head, a serious expression crossing his face.
Hotch raises one of his eyebrows and look at you. You simply shake your head, mouthing ‘he only bought two’. Hotch chuckles under his breath and nods his head. Spencer takes that chance to take another gulp of his drink and you continued to watch over your boyfriend.
“I would like to tell you that I am very happy.” Spencer hiccups and shakes his head, taking one more sip. “That you are getting married.” At this point, Spencer doesn’t even think he’s making much more sense anymore. “Oh, but some might say that they might not be happy because maybe Spencer has something for Jennifer and that’s not true.” Spencer pulls you close to him and you had to steady yourself because you definitely did not expect Spencer to pull you towards him. “I have this lady right here with me and I love her very much.”
Hotch and you chuckle at Spencer’s confession. “Alright, I think that’s enough of drinking for you, Spence.” You murmur as you take his glass away from him. “Jenny and Will, I love the both of you so much and I’m really happy for the both of you.”
“Thank you. I think I should go and see if David’s ready to give his speech yet.” Hotch informs and you nod your head. “Do you have everything in control here?” He asks, eyeing Spencer who is looking more relaxed than he has ever seen the young doctor in.
You nod your head. “Yup, no worries.” You usher Hotch to go find Rossi and he left you with Spencer. Spencer has somehow taken his glass back from you and is now sitting on the floor and you shake your head, chuckling. “You are going to be so embarrassed come tomorrow, Spence.” You tell him as you take a seat beside him.
Spencer downs the rest of his drink and leans against you, pressing his head against your shoulder. You shiver slightly because his hair is tickling your neck. “That can wait for tomorrow. Do you think you might want to move in with me sometime in the future?” He asks, and you stare at him in surprise and you blink a couple of times.
“Why don’t you ask me when you’re not drunk, Spencer?” You run your hand through his hair and Spencer smiles at you. “Love you, Spence.”
Spencer lifts his head from your shoulder and opens his mouth before shaking his head. “I need to go to the toilet.” This cause you to laugh loudly and with much difficulty – you are still laughing, and Spencer has suddenly lost his gracefulness – you helped Spencer up. “Thanks, Y/N.”

summary: it’s a thing now; confessing your love and appreciation in the hospital.
Tumblr media
Your eyes flutter open and you blink a couple of times as you try to adjust your eyesight to the bright room. Your head is pounding slightly and there is this intense pain at your hip and your neck, making you feel slightly dizzy and nauseous. There is a familiar beep, beep, beepbut all you can make out is the fact that you are in a hospital room. Furrowing your eyebrows, it takes you a few seconds to remember what had warranted you to be in the hospital.
You had gotten shot – twice. One to your hip and the other to your shoulder; fragments of the bullet ricocheting and it was only by pure luck you had survived those shots. Despite wearing your bulletproof vest, you had still managed to get shot – the Unsub definitely knew very well where to shoot to hurt you since he managed to land you on bedrest.
Things had been going to plan until the Unsub’s latest potential victim broke character, deciding to leave early and since you had been assigned to protect her, in her haste to get herself to safety, you had gotten shot – but not before you managed to shoot the Unsub’s thigh. You remembered a lot of pain and a few people screaming your name but the one thing you remembered the most before you completely blacked out had been Spencer rushing towards your falling body with a terrified expression on his face.
You hadn’t realized that you had fallen asleep until you hear Garcia speaking quietly, bidding you goodbye. You open your eyes just as Garcia leaves your room and you blink a couple of times, getting rid of the remnants of sleep. That is when you notice the weight on your hand and you turned your head to the side. A smile involuntarily appeared on your face when you see Spencer sitting beside you, snoring quietly. Your gaze move to your hand and your heart races slightly when you realized that the weight you felt against your hand had been Spencer’s hand and you can feel your cheeks warming.
“He’s been here since you got out of surgery.”
You are startled by the sudden whisper and you turn around to see a nurse walking into your room. She checks your IV drip and looks at your clipboard. “Boyfriend?” She asks quietly, not wanting to disturb the peace and quiet.
You flush at her question and tried to shake your head before you realized that it wasn’t a good idea, especially since you had injured a part of your neck. The nurse gives you an understanding smile.
“Well, for what it’s worth, he seems to completely be head over heels for you, darling. Hasn’t left that seat except for toilet breaks and you have been here close to two days now.” She points out and if you hadn’t been feeling so out of it, you might have blushed profusely upon hearing her observation. “Well, darling, your doctor’s currently finishing up his rounds so we’ll drop by as soon as we can. Have a good rest.” She pats your free hand and you look away from her to stare at Spencer.
You didn’t know how long you had continued to stare at Spencer, but you had been surprised to see Spencer straight right back at you. Now that he is wide awake, you can see that his eyes are puffy and slightly red, and Spencer tightens the hold he has on your hand. You squeeze his hand back, just as tightly. “Hey.” You murmur, throat still feeling like it had been ripped apart.
Spencer gives you a small smile as he straightens his chair and leans closer to you. “Hey, Y/N.” If you had been in your right state of mind, you would have noticed how his voice had trembled slightly when he said your name and how his fingers twitched as he keeps on playing with your hand.
“Did we catch him?”
Spencer purses his lips and nods his head. That incident is still fresh in his mind and he hates the fact that you are hurt. “Morgan tackled him after you shot him by the thigh. Tried viciously to deny it was him who did all those murders but, in the end, confessed to merely cleaning up the streets.” He shudders in anger.
“How long have I been out?” You ask him quietly, wanting to draw his mind away from whatever had happened after you blacked out. “The nurse told me that you stayed here for two days, Spencer. Did you?”
Spencer flushes at your words and he nods his head stiffly, causing you to raise one of your eyebrows. “If you want the exact number, you have been here for approximately thirty-eight hours, forty minutes and twenty seconds and I have been here since the moment you were brought here.” Spencer explains, rattling off the précised numbers and you smile. “You probably don’t remember, Y/N, but I rode with you in the ambulance.”
You furrow your eyebrows. “I don’t remember but thank you, Spencer.” You let out a yawn and Spencer stands up to tuck you in to the bed. “Spence?” You call out for his attention, eyes starting to droop once more – the nurse must have noticed your uncomfortableness earlier – and Spencer hums in response.
“Why – How come you stayed?” You ask him sleepily and the last thing you remember as you dozed off to sleep is Spencer pressing his lips on your forehead, murmuring something that is lost to your ears.
The next time you woke up, your neck doesn’t hurt as much and the pain in your lower body also didn’t hurt as much as the first time you had woken up. To your surprise, Spencer is still sitting beside you on the reclining chair and this time around, you woke up to Spencer reading Beauty and the Beast to you – your ears welled up with tears because Beauty and the Beast is one of your favourite books.
“What version are you reading?”
Spencer whips his head in your direction and a smile blooms on his face, catching you off-guard by how breathtakingly gorgeous he is. “Villeneuve’s version.” He answers as he bookmarks the book and sets it aside. “Do you need anything?”
You shake your head as you continue to look at Spencer. “Why are you still here, Spence?” You knew you didn’t have to clarify what you had meant – you remembered bits and pieces from your conversations earlier on, but you couldn’t for the life of you remember what he had said just as you went to sleep.
Spencer blinks a couple of times before he wets his lip. “I... I wanted to be here, for you. So that when you wake up, you will see a familiar face.” He murmurs quietly but you have been a profiler as long as Spencer had been, so you knew he was skirting around the truth.
“And the truth?”
Spencer looks at you and looks down at his own hands. You cover one of his hands with yours and Spencer blinks a few times before he turns his hand upside down, so that your palm meets his. “The truth is… I thought I was never going to see you again – that if I left, something would happen to you and – you flatlined in the ambulance, Y/N. I just didn’t want to lose someone I care about to another Unsub and what I’m trying to say is that I have developed feelings for you.” He draws shapes on your hand and you tighten your hold on his hand.
“Spencer, look at me.”
Spencer shyly looks at you. His ears are red and he knows his cheeks might be looking flushed. “What do you say to going out on a date with me once I’m healed?” You ask him; your cheeks are beginning to hurt from how much you are smiling. “Or maybe hang out or something? I am open to any suggestions.”
Spencer blinks a couple of times before it dawned on him what you were trying to say. He chuckles and lifts the hand he is holding to his lips, kissing your knuckles. “That sounds good, Y/N.”
You tug him closer and when Spencer is within reach, you wrap an arm around him, burying your face in his shoulders, inhaling his scent. Spencer gingerly wraps his own arms around you, careful of your injuries and presses his nose in your hair. “Just in case it wasn’t obvious, I like you too, Spencer. Quite a lot actually.” You mumble into his shoulder and Spencer chuckles, pressing his lips atop your head.

like i’m going to lose you
I started watching a new series last week (FBI) and this was definitely inspired by the first episode and I wanted to write it. I’m loving the cast’s prom photos and MGG’s posts cracked me up the most. All of them look so good!!

“Brunch?”
Spencer smiles and nods his head as he checks his phone for the umpteenth time and JJ nudges him with her elbow. Spencer looks away from his phone to look at JJ who is looking at him with a worried expression.
“Is everything alright? You’ve been checking your phone for a couple of times now, Spence.” She points out; although it isn’t rare for Spencer to be checking his phone a few times, he had done it so much, JJ is starting to worry.
Spencer furrows his eyebrows as the smile drops from his face. He glances at his phone once more before pocketing the device. “It’s just that this morning I texted Y/N and she has yet to reply me and usually, no matter how busy she is, she normally replies my text messages: the last thing she said to me had been: new case, love you.” Spencer pushes his hair behind his ear; as much as he tries not to be too worried about the lack of response from you, he really can’t help it. “I’m just worried.”
Before JJ could even respond to Spencer’s statement, the loud pitter-pattering of Garcia’s shoes. Spencer and JJ pause to wait for Garcia and as soon as Garcia appeared in their line of sights, Spencer didn’t like the nervousness that suddenly appeared. Garcia stops directly in front of him.
“Hi, JJ.” Garcia greets the other blonde quickly before turning back to look at Spencer. “I figured you haven’t heard yet and I know you are probably going to get mad at me and Emily is probably going to have my hide as well, but I just couldn’t help it – after everything that this family has been through, I had to keep track of everything and – “
“Garcia,” JJ calls out, placing a hand on Garcia’s arm and Garcia stops herself from talking, swallowing visibly. She blinks a couple of times, looking from Spencer to JJ. “You are rambling.”
Garcia nods her head a few times, turning back to look at Spencer. “I was hanging out with Kristen earlier and she had to leave because a building blew up and – “
Spencer shakes his head, stepping towards Garcia. He already knows where this conversation is going, and he doesn’t want to believe it. He doesn’t want to believe that you had gotten yourself caught in the blast or worse, you had been in the building when that blast happened and Spencer doesn’t realize this but his eyes start tearing up and his breathing quickens – he isn’t ready to let you go; the last time he held you was almost a week ago when the entire team had to leave for a case and –
“Spence, breathe! Listen, Garcia said Y/N’s alright. She’s fine. Breathe, Spence. Breathe. Come on.” JJ leads him to his table, pushing him down on his seat as Garcia trails after the two of them, looking at Spencer worriedly. “Come on, Spence.”
Under JJ’s orders, Spencer finally manages to even his breathing and he blinks a couple of times. “What happened, Garcia?”
Garcia takes out her phone, reading the text message she had received from her friend, Kristen. “Y/N was nearby when the first blast happened, but she wasn’t super close and unfortunately, she had to get stitches right above her right eyebrow and oh.”
Spencer looks up sharply at Garcia. Even JJ is looking at her, confusion and worried etched over her face. JJ has known you since the very beginning – Spencer confided in her a lot when it came to relationships and in particular, you – and hearing these words coming from Garcia are never easy and JJ places her hand on Spencer’s shoulder, gripping it to reassure her little brother.
“What do you mean by ‘oh’?”
Garcia blinks a couple of times as she looks away from her phone. She hurriedly makes a grab for the remote controller and changes the channel, surprising quite a few other agents and office workers who had been looking at the television. “Oh my God.”
“Penelope, what is it?”
Garcia turns away from the television – written on the screen of the television, breaking news: summit evacuated due to bomb threat– and she points at the television weakly, blanching slightly at what she is about to say. “Y/N’s there right now.”
You sigh in relief, leaning against the car. The coolness of the metal and the air feels great on your flushed skin – there are still reporters around and the bomb squad had just recently drove away with the bomb you had recently diffused – and you can see your colleagues doing collateral damage.
Pushing yourself from the car, you make your way to the vehicle you had been driving with the intent of going back to the office and then driving back home. You briefly considered calling your boyfriend, but your phone’s screen had cracked so bad, you know you need to get a new phone some time tomorrow.
“Y/N!”
Upon hearing your own name being called out, you paused and turned around, only to meet a vest that is very familiar (and often thrown on your sofa) and you had to blink a couple of times before looking up from the vest, meeting the eyes of a very worried Dr. Spencer Reid. “Spencer!” You reel back, surprised to see him.
“Don’t ever do something like that ever again!” Spencer exclaims, pulling you flush against his chest as his arms wrap around your torso tightly. Your arms automatically went around his waist as you bury your face on his chest. You are confused as to how Spencer found you but at the same time, it feels really great to have his arms around you – Spencer had been gone for a case for almost a week and after the entire ordeal you went through today, it was a really nice surprise.
“Spencer,” You pull back just so you can look at your boyfriend’s face. The frown on his face deepens when his gaze lands on your stitches and you pull one of your hands back so that you can cup his face, making him stare at your eyes instead. “What are you doing here?”
Spencer shakes his head, leaning down so he can press his lips against yours softly. You sigh in to the kiss and wrap your arm around his neck; you probably should not even be doing this here, but it has been a while since you have seen him. He pulls back and gingerly touches the area where you got your stitches, causing you to flinch slightly because your head is still hurting and now that the adrenaline from all of the bomb chasing is washing away, you are suddenly very and extremely exhausted.
“I’m here to take you home.” Spencer mutters and you lay your head against his chest, breathing in the scent that was just uniquely Spencer.
“I’m already home.”
Spencer chuckles, pressing his lips on your hair. “How about we get you to the office first and then get something for you to eat before heading home?” Spencer pulls away from you, grabbing your keys from your pocket. “Sounds good?”
You grin at Spencer, heart heavy with love and you nod your head, touched by his actions. “Yeah, sounds good, Spence.”
