This is What Trump is Doing About the Opioid Epidemic
On Thursday, October 26 President Trump declared that the opioid crisis is a “public health emergency,” and is a serious issue for the country. According to the New York Times in a study conducted in 2016, the excessive drug abuse in America has taken around 59,000 lives in 2016 alone. Today, drug overdose is the leading cause of death in America. So with these statistics swirling around, Trump and his senior administration officials are finally taking action to address the rising epidemic of drug use in the U.S.
However, although the plan to correct this crisis has been a long-anticipated move, I can’t help but wonder where all the money to fix this issue will be coming from. Luckily, Trump was there to answer my question. Not. As of right now, there have been no moves to make new money or reallocate federal funds, only to promise that change will be implemented soon.
Trump has called the epidemic the “worst drug crisis in America history, and if you think about it, world history,” and went on to say, “We will announce a new policy to overcome a strict 70s'-era rule that prevents states from providing care at treatment facilities for those suffering from drug addiction. You should expect to see approvals very, very fast, not like in the past.”
So if we break it down, all we really know about what will happen in regards to the opioid epidemic is, a) Trump is calling it a world wide issue, b) the Trump administration will be introducing that new policy, and c) we should expect change very soon. However, there are a few more things we still need to know! Such as, I don’t know, who will carry these changes out, when they are announcing the new policy, and how they will treat and handle those with drug problems to decrease the number of deaths by overdose. There is no clear outline of what is to come for the opioid overdose epidemic which leads to people, including myself, to wonder if this is yet another empty promise that Trump makes to the people of America. There is no real, major actions being made to back up the words of the president or even a real outline for the change.
It is a step, though, that Trump has addressed the issue of the opioid epidemic. All we need now is for the president and his administration to not only talk the talk, but walk the walk. Or in other words to make change happen instead of saying change will happen.

Kim Cattrall Just Dropped a Major Bomb and Sex in the City Fans Everywhere are Crying
...our faces when Kim Cattrall told Piers Morgan that the cast of Sex and the City have in fact, “...never been friends.”
On Monday night, Cattrall appeared on Piers Morgan’s “Life Stories” where the subject of a third Sex and the City movie was inevitably brought up. If there was ever a glimmer of hope of this rumor being true, well, Kim Cattrall squashed every last bit. She went on to say that, “We've been colleagues and in some ways it's a very healthy place to be because then you have a clear line between your professional life and relationship and your personal." Crack. That’s the sound of every fan’s heart breaking.
The HBO-ran television show first premiered in 1998 and followed the life of Carrie Bradshaw, a young sex columnist who explores love and sex in the city of Manhattan. Along with her, she had three best friends Samantha (Cattrall), Miranda and Charlotte, whom all have their fair share of relationship drama throughout the series. The show ran all the way into the early 2000′s, having six consecutive seasons under its belt.
While mostly every young adult in America and beyond aspired to have such fierce friendships, unfortunately the relationship did not translate off-screen. In fact, one die-hard fan took to Twitter to question Kim Cattrall’s choice to leave the Sex and the City franchise to which she responded, “I’ve played ‘SAM’ for 20 years. Am moving on & so should you.”
I guess you can always count on Samantha Jones to feed you a dollop of tough love just when you need it.

NBC’s Megyn Kelly Chimed in on the Bill O’Reilly Sexual Harassment Allegations and Now Cue the Applause
In light of the recent sexual harassment and assault allegations swirling around in Hollywood, it hasn’t been a huge surprise that yet another allegation has been brought to the table. Especially as the Harvey Weinstein accusations are fresh on our minds, more and more women have been speaking out against major names in Hollywood for various forms of sexual abuse. One of which was former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly.
According to a recent article by the New York Times in 2017, “Last January, six months after Fox News ousted its chairman amid a sexual harassment scandal, the network’s top-rated host at the time, Bill O’Reilly, struck a $32 million agreement with a longtime network analyst to settle new sexual harassment allegations.” In response, O’Reilly’s representative Mark Fabiani released a statement saying, “In the more than 20 years Bill O’Reilly worked at Fox News, not one complaint was filed against him with the Human Resources Department or Legal Department by a coworker, even on the anonymous hotline.”
However, according to Entertainment Weekly, Megan Kelly who had left Fox in January had a thing or two to say about this statement. On NBC’s Megan Kelly Today, she rebuked it saying, “O'Reilly's suggestion that no one ever complained about his behavior is false. I know because I complained.”
So basically, she called out O’Reilly for being a big fat liar. She went on to say that she had sent an email to the co-presidents of Fox News, Jack Abernethy and Bill Shine, going into detail about O’Reilly’s sexual harassment in the workplace. On top of that, Kelly also released a memoir in which she went over the same content. In the email she stated, “Perhaps he didn’t realize the kind of message his criticism sends to young women across this country about how men continue to view the issue of speaking out about sexual harassment,”
Upon the revelation of the allegations, O’Reilly spoke out against the subject saying that he didn’t want to talk about the scandal because it makes his network look bad.
Okay, O’Reilly, okay.
In spite of Bill O’Reilly’s less than appropriate reaction, Megyn Kelly was yet another voice to heroically step forward for the many young women and men who have been sexually harassed or assaulted. When asked about why she spoke out and released the email she stated, “I think it speaks volumes about powerful men and the road blocks one can face in taking them on.”
FINALLY. We applaud you, Megyn Kelly, as well as all the other bold women and men who have spoken out against sexual harassment, not only for the entertainment industry but in many other industries around the world as well. And so in closing, this is the part where everyone with a decent moral compass stands and cheers for the other decent people who were brave enough to step forward.
Yeah, like that.
