what do you think about race swapping?
It's okay, I mean I don't mind it but sometimes find it unnecessary. I don't mean in the way that x group shouldn't be represented, but that it doesn't create a new space for new characters and lives off of old characters. If race doesn't matter in context, it doesn't matter if it's swapped.

have we talked about the way watcher is literally creating content like around its fans? like having fans send in their own creepy horror stories or ghost stories and basically content that depends on us submitting things? like the level of fan engagement is insane and really cool to see. most youtube channels/shows do Q &As once in a blue moon, watcher really goes above and beyond 💖

Velma: The Worst Modern Animated Show
How can anyone describe Velma? I mean, we all describe our favourite shows in a particular way like for example "Modern Family is so relatable and funny!" or "Gilmore Girls is a cultural staple!". But Velma is so drab, that I haven't heard anyone describe it in a good manner.
After a while, meta humor gets old and honestly, trashy. Things like talking about a topic while having it on the screen to be "self-aware" It's so bland. A good dose of self-awareness is nice once in a blue moon, except to have it as your main spiel is awkward. Velma is a perfect example of a modern-day meta-humor that doesn't have enough effort to be good. My issue with meta-humor is that if it's overused, it can start to sound repetitive and unoriginal. Since humor is a personal experience, not everyone will find something amusing. To keep their audience interested, creators must constantly look for new and innovative content. Humor has been significantly influenced by globalization and the widespread availability of Western media in many regions of the world. As a result, humor may become homogenized across cultures, with many nations adopting the same types of humor that are in vogue in the West.
Overusing meta-humor can result in repetition and become boring. Because humor relies on novelty and surprise to be powerful, it loses its impact when it becomes predictable. While having the right technical skills to make a joke and delivering the punchline just right can potentially add an extra layer of enjoyment, it cannot make up for a lack of originality in the humor.
A show's quality, including Velma, is arbitrary and dependent on personal preferences. But it's not unusual for a show's humor and content to play a big part in determining how successful and well-liked it is as a whole. The reception of the show may suffer if the humor and content fall short of the audience's expectations. In addition to avoiding offensive or sensitive content, it's critical for creators to strike a balance between being entertaining and pushing the envelope.
Except Velma ignores this and makes the beloved Scooby-Doo crew rude brats or NPCs! They make unfunny racist, sexist, and prejudice-filled jokes and call them "self-aware". Jokes like talking about a white teenage boy being a manchild that can't cut his own food and who also has a micro penis. Or a brown South Asian woman being hairy, ugly, and who looks like a boy. Or a pretty girl being a complete bitch and a drug dealer. (cause she learned that in TV shows you can become one if your life is a little crappy)
Look, the show just perpetuates harmful stereotypes and messages to mix in and it just is so bad in my perspective. It's bland, boring, dull, and tasteless. And I know I'm highkey jumping on the hate train for this. But it is deserved, and I will continue to shit on this show till the end of time.
side note: I'm going, to be honest, the show despite my hate for it has really good animation. Honestly, the animators are carrying this whole show on their already broken and underpaid backs. They get little to no recognition because people view animated series and movies as not as serious as live actions. So they deserve a huge amount of applause. From Velma's panic attack scenes to the fluidity of their movements is very impressive. Velma's animators deserve praise for their remarkable work, but it is unfortunate that the programme falls short in other respects, such as humor and content.
TLDR: Velma is awful
