i’ll actually die on the hill that it’s jeremiah who is the most consistently misunderstood and mistreated character on the show, not a certain #someone else just because his key character traits aren’t being brooding and mysterious and having avoidant attachment style.

jeremiah describes being fully wasted and dissociating with lacie then sobbing afterwards (while she was very much proud of it) which full well sounds like he was taken advantage of yet all b*nrads don’t give a fuck and still shit on him for “cheating”. when it’s been established in canon that he thought they were fully broken up. not even mentioning, steve and taylor have been ACTUALLY cheating on their sos for months, but of course b*nrad defenders and consistent logic just don’t mesh well together.

jeremiah is constantly described as never taking anything seriously, when we’ve seen time and time again that he is serious. even freaking steven acts like he’s a joke (some best friend there lol). who was taking care of susannah’s bills? who stepped aside if it would mean his brother could be happy? who was the MOST supportive of belly going to paris to follow her dreams instead of staying where she was comfortable? and who stayed in the hospital all night when steven was hurt, keeping his distance for belly’s sake but being on standby, just in case she might need him?

jeremiah haters also describe him as manipulative and vindictive, but remind me again. which brother was making fun of belly over her checking her appearance, something which obviously meant a lot to her at that time (it’s the name of the frickin show)! which brother made her constantly feel like she was just an afterthought and not the first choice? which brother always left her hanging and wondering what she’d done wrong? right. whereas jeremiah is always telling belly she’s beautiful, that she can do anything, and that she deserves everything. it’s not even a competition for me

jeremiah is constantly slut shamed when he and belly have had the longest and strongest relationship in the show by far. he’s also the only canon bi character which makes this extra weird. poor writing but also the double standards against jeremiah specifically, all the time, is really something.

all of this isn’t even mentioning the fact that jenny had to do a complete character assassination of jere (in the books—and likely, in turn, the show, though the full extent has obviously not happened yet though i’m bracing myself for it) to stop him from being the obvious better choice, because he is and has been. we have seen jeremiah be an extremely mature, supportive, open, warm and loving partner to belly, and belly in turn is HEAD over heels in love with him. i mean, girlie is skipping towards him, smiling stupidly in all their scenes, and calls him her soulmate and last love. she isn’t constantly upset and doubting herself and insecure the way she was with a certain someone else.

the ONLY way they are not endgame now is by completely ruining jere and bellyjere’s relationship, because so far it’s pretty much been an idyll (taylor herself says this) – obviously it hasn’t been perfect all the time, but they’ve never given up on each other, and always come out the other side stronger. will this likely downfall make sense for them? no. will it make sense for jere’s character? no! but there’s no other way for bellyjere to not be endgame with how happy they were together for over three years—the longest main relationship by far in the show. it’s the only way to make b*nrad and c*nrad the favored choice. if you have to destroy one ship to make another look better, how good is it really? my genuine question for jenny.

so i stand by this. jeremiah is the most consistently misunderstood and mistreated character in tsitp by far — both by the fans and the creators.

favourite character winner is mr. haku kusanagi! although taiga and haru were insanely close, haku managed to beat them by 1 - 2 votes. there were MANY ties with luca, ritsu, romeo with them all being in 12th place, and another big tie was kaito, zenji, alan, and ren with them being in 13th place. unfortunately edward has received a total of only 2 votes...

LEAST CHARACTER RESULTS

the results of this wasn't shocking... mr. leo kurosagi turned to be the fandom's least favorite! with tohma, kaito, and jin coming in 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (wow, a lot of people seem do dislike frostheim ghouls </3) unsurprisingly, no one seems to dislike rui and lyca with them both receiving a total of 0 votes!

Summary: Different AU-setting scenarios with the Tokyo Debunker guys! Some are inspired by the missions that happened in the canon story, and some just by their character vibe.

Warnings: Not many direct spoilers, but I am borrowing some of the theming of the missions I've played/seen. Mentions of blood drinking in Edwards but he's a vampire... And mentions of stalking (influencer AU) in Sho's.

Characters: Edward, Leo, Sho, Jin, Taiga, Haku

Edward + Mysterious Butler

"Oh? Is the tea not to your liking, Master?" You mutter something about how it's alright; just your appetite, only for an elegant face to appear in your view. "Why, that won't do." Edward smiles serenely, too close for comfort. Then, leaning in to your ear: "I took quite a lot of blood from you last night. We can't have you fainting now, can we?" Sometimes, you honestly wonder who's in charge here. You, the stranded Young Master of a fallen family, or the conspicuous 'butler' who's offered you his aid. "...I'll finish the drink. Just leave me for a few hours to complete my paperwork." You try to ignore the burning sensation on your cheeks, shying away from Edward's form. Unsurprisingly, he follows. Tucking a strand of your hair behind your ear with a lingering touch. "As you wish, Young Master. Your word is my command."

Leo + Influencer Relationship

"Come on now, sweetheart. No need to be so shy." You try your best not to squirm as Leo pulls you closer by the waist, posing with a bright smile as the photobooth camera blinds you with a flash. Another picture, and another, before Leo takes a video of the collage editing process and prepares it for a post. 'Cutest photobooth ever! They say that highschool sweethearts who take a pic here are sure to have great luck!' The sickeningly sweet caption is posted with swoosh on his phone, then, the real Leo greets you. A lazy, almost bored expression, as he leads you out of the store. "What is it? Having second thoughts?" You didn't expect him to ask you that; as if he truly cared how you felt. You'd agreed to help him stage a fake relationship on his socials so that his more rabid fans would back off from sending way too much fanmail to his address - or, in the event that they tried to do anything else, get reported. After which you can finally 'break up' and go back to your usual life. But... Even if you're used to Leo's two-faced personality, it's still jarring whenever he suddenly brightens when you're in public, calling you pet names and buying you your favorite snacks and drinks. Always act like someone's watching. You never know how far a stalker would go. "...Don't move." Leo leans in close to you, fingers tilting up your chin. You notice that his head is angled so that no one could see your expressions from the left. "I saw a camera blinking. Don't say anything you wouldn't want to be gossiped about." But in your made-up narrative, this is nothing more than an innocent, doting kiss. Leo leans away with a soft, gentle smile. And you can feel the nerves from both his situation and this starting to build. Will you really be alright by the time this fake romance ends?

Sho + Highschool AU

"Hey, senpai," A familiar voice calls, smiling as you look up from tying your shoes. "Ready to go?" "People are going to think you've got a crush on me if you keep this up." You laugh, ruffling Sho's hair. He protests at the action and grabs your wrist to stop you, before pausing, lingering, and finally letting go. "Well, it doesn't matter what they think, as long as you're okay about walking with me." He shoves his hands into his pockets and matches your steps. It's Sho's first year in highschool, while you're a year above him; you used to be close in middle school due to how Leo would always dump his 'vice president' errands onto Sho. As secretary of the student council back then, you always had the chance to chat with him and eventually learned that you lived in the same neighborhood. Despite his semi-delinquent looks, you know for a fact that Sho's a good guy. He's helped you carry groceries and bags countless of times, and offered to wait for you if you were staying late after school to complete paperwork. All in all, you believe that his popularity now that he's in highschool is well-warranted. The only thing is... You sometimes feel like he's being limited by spending time with you. You don't mind it, of course - but you aren't as active now as you were in middle-school. You spend most of your time studying in the library or helping out at home. "Since when did I become friends with you because of stuff like that?" Sho had replied in the past. "I'm hangin' out with you because I want to, senpai. Don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise." It's a shame... he could really make a significant other happy, with this amount of care and attention. ...Wait... could it be...?

Jin + Beach Outing

"You really ought to be more careful." Jin sighs, shifting your position in his arms - bridal carried - so that the Sun isn't glaring into your face. "Why would you go into the water without proper swimwear?" "I kind of got dragged there against my will..." You weakly defend yourself, knowing full-well that if Jin caught onto the fact that you haven't put proper sunscreen on, you were going to be in for it. "Haru and Towa are really energetic, you know." Jin's expression seems to sour at the sound of their names. "And did any of you think about what you'd do once your clothes got wet?" "Well..." Unexpectedly, you find yourself placed down on one of the beach chairs, and a large sheet of fabric falls over your legs. "Just put that on." Oh. Not a towel. Jin's shirt. Loose enough to wear as a coat around your frame. "Don't just stare with your mouth open. Help me put sunscreen on my back." "Y-Yes! Hold on a moment!"

Taiga + Casino

"Place your bets." You stare at the roulette wheel with your hands clenched. Everything about this place is too foreign; from the lowlights and sparkling furniture, to the expensive clothes on your back. This is why you hate blind dates. Why did you even let that stupid- "Black." A hand reaches over your shoulder, moving your chips. Huh? Before you know it, the wheel is spinning, and lo and behold... You've won. The stranger who's saved your fumble huffs to himself, as if this was no surprise. Then, drags a chair over to slot it next to you, leaning close as if you're attending this casino event together - smelling faintly of smoke and whisky. Wait... is this a stranger? Why does it feel like you've met him before? "Come on, kitten. You told me to stick close to you, remember?" Taiga leans in to whisper in your ear. "Now make a bet. Red, or black?" ...Mission... don't forget... Why do you have a feeling that your bet is going to trigger more than just a roulette loss? (Distinctly, your subconscious is aware: your next words is the trigger between a Taiga who destroys the casino that stole your memories - or a longer night dancing in darkness, with unfamiliar steps and sights.)

Haku + Navigating the City's Cafes

"Open up, ahh..." Haku barely contains his laugh at the embarrassed knit in your brow. When you told him you haven't visited the city in a while and missed the cafes - you didn't mean this! "Just teleport me back to campus." You mutter, starting to push yourself away from the table. "If I'm lucky, no one's seen us, and I can-" You feel your chair getting yoinked back in Haku's direction; pulled by him hooking his foot around one of its legs. The casual and effortless action just flusters you even more, and you lose the ability to speak. What on earth- "Say ah-" Haku continues, as if you hadn't just attempted to escape. His joking tone softens into a more familiar smile, slightly apologetic: "Sorry, sorry. I'll stop teasing you." "You can't help it, huh?" You try not to pout, but it's hard when Haku's constantly making your heart skip and jump. This imbalance in power is way too unfair! As you reach out to take the fork with cake from his hand, Haku smoothly swaps your grips - before pulling your hand, and the cake, to his mouth instead. And in a second - it's gone. You can't decide if this is better or worse than being fed by him, when Haku licks some of the cake crumbs off his lips. "Not too sweet." He comments, holding his chin. "But maybe I'll need a comparison to make sure." ...Why is he staring at your lips?

@ritzcuit most people aren't familiar with Leo's game I think!!! Most people are too busy clutching their pearls over that he's mean and willing to prioritize many lives over the life of someone he barely knows to actually pay attention!!!

Leo is extremely justice minded and you can tell that from his pre-prologue dialogue on top of it telling you that he's been through shit. Even before this episode I could tell he grew up in less fortunate circumstances. A spoiled rich kid doesn't have the priority of "Life sucks and then you die, but I wanna make the people responsible for making life suck regret it"!

The first time we meet him he's seemingly scamming a guy who's trying to stab him. That guy is later in prison, with Sho saying they finally caught him. As in, he should've been in prison long before. That's because Leo's targets are all scummy people who abuse their power and wealth and probably have been getting away with breaking the law in some way that's been harmful for everyone else for a long time!

The teachers he goaded into punching him IN MIDDLE SCHOOL? No amount of being angry at A TWELVE YEAR OLD should prompt you to punch them. And Leo got them fired--and made three more quit, probably with similar cause! And the group chat for the class went wild whenever he did--probably because those teachers were scummy and abusive already and he just made sure they couldn't get away with it. Remember--Sho said that Leo putting himself into the line of fire to lure out a threat is an extremely Leo-like plan? He's been exposing people for being shitty for half his fucking life, by making them show how shitty they are to him. The people he doesn't expose he takes wealth and valuables from and threatens.

The fact that he' constantly goading Subaru? Remember that there was a recording from a tabloid that said that Subaru had abused one of his juniors in his troupe? Leo, the guy who spends a lot of time on social media, absolutely has heard this and sees Subaru--especially sees him trying to make nice with Sho!--and says you have a history and I don't trust you and I'm going to prove that you're a threat. And that's why he keeps bugging him! To either get proof that Subaru's changed or that Subaru hasn't changed and could be aggravated to violence and he can't be trusted.

Same with Tohma. He doesn't trust that he switched sides so easily. He doesn't trust that he seems to have some kind of drug problem. He doesn't trust that he's blackmailed and extorted people. He doesn't trust that he's making nice with Alan who's too careless and trusting to question someone who seems to be playing two sides and isn't keeping Jin in the loop. He wants to test him and see if he's still a threat, if he can still be trusted, if he's actually a threat to Alan and his ignorance?

And Dante, and Darkwick, and his many targets, and the gross old men he scams out of money with ai generated pictures of women--

Like he says. He doesn't care if people call him a demon. He knows what he is. He knows that he's not doing anything wrong per say. Even if his methods are a little crude. Like you/Eset said, he's testing people. Testing threats. Looking out for himself--and everyone around.

And why's he mean to the pc? Lots of reasons. He doesn't see her as a threat, no, he sees her as someone who'd be irrelevant if not for the special circumstances. So he doesn't have any problem amusing himself with her, although he also understands her use and importance. But more importantly I think he sees her struggle? He sees her trying to be strong regardless? And he's like. . .why though. You're a civilian. A normie. Why are you trying to not be angry? Why are you trying to not be sad or scared?? Why are you denying your feelings instead of letting them out?

I feel like a lot of his goading is because he wants her to be angry. Even if it's at him. At least let her let those feelings out somewhere. I feel like a lot of his teasing and bullying and goading is to 1) test people and prove if they're threats or not, 2) have people let their feelings out if they aren't actually threats(because what good is holding them in?), 3) help people recognize what bad behavior they might be missing from some larger source is by seeing it in a single person(him). Then they can do more to take care of themself by recognizing warning signs. (Of course a lot of that is theory and headcanon but I have reason to believe it's the truth okay.)

Just. People are so caught up in surface level 'but he's mean to the pc!!!!!! I don't like bullies!!!! >:(' that they don't give anything else any consideration I think lmao. Yes he uses people for his amusement but. Idk. He's a lot deeper than 'mean popular kid troll bully' and it showed very early on to me. As much as I'm like 'yeah I want Leo to be mean and bad and worse!' I've never thought he was mean and bad for the sake of it. All of it is defensive, giving too much of a fuck but not showing it, tired of injustice and people with power getting away with whatever they want. He, like Sho, is actually a really good guy. The whole thing with Vagastrom is they want change for the world. He just expresses it very crudely, because he doesn't actually care much if people like him or not. Being loved and admired is nice yes and it's very useful. I imagine he became an influencer partially so he could use that influence to expose more people, use his power for good as well as selfish gains. He's cynical, he thinks everyone is cruel and selfish, so he's playing the game so he has level playing field with the people he hates the most. And obviously you can't do anything if you don't look after yourself first, of course he's selfish, he values himself. But. Idk. Leo is very much a good person to me. He cares about what's right and what's wrong, he just doesn't want anybody to think he does to make things right. And I'm love him for that. _(:'3」∠)_
