Ok. Last tumblr post 2 years ago and mitjaissick is on radar? Time to say hi and thanks to my great followers and missed friends.
The struggle for freedom and open (mind) borders has always been part of my life. Since the increasing fascism in Europe (and elsewhere) has targeted refugees and other minorities in a severe way, I shifted my focus (and spare time) back to activism. Art is still an important part of my life and knows no borders anyway. But the struggle for freedom demands more from me in these days, as still no one of us is free, when others are oppressed. Or left out to die.
The work of this young artist reminds me in a soothing way of what fences and borders are: man-made, artficial constructs. Here, elaborate, eclectic.
There is only No pasaran! to fascism. Never. Again. Yours, m.

Evil molecula, 2003
A model molecule made up of dodecahedrons created from vinyl records by “satanic” death metal and black metal rock bands, joined together by aluminum tubes. The shape of the structure changes and adapts to the space. This “constructivist” sculpture attempts to render our abstract idea of evil in a physical dimension

Passato, futuro, 2007
Original 70’s alarm clock modified by the artist in order to have a time constantly changing following an unpredictable random logic. The possibilities of catching the real time - the present - are thus very minimal. The “present time” parameter almost disappears from our common notion of time and according to quantum physics probability starts where random time appears.

Quadrophenia, 2004
vinyl records, mirrors, deambulator, aluminium
Quadrophenia is a customised zimmer frame. The wheels are made from 2 sizes of vinyl records (the artist teen-age favourite selection) - the result being that the vehicles can only move in circles. The title is taken from the famous 70s cult movie about youth and music culture (specifically the Mods), and about social rebellion.
