This year at the Connecticut Sea Music Festival I resurrected and updated one of my favorite old sets– Maritime Songs that Feature Birds. After about 45 minutes of my own set, I opened the floor to folks who might have additional songs to offer - and we ended the workshop with a startling 31 different types of birds named (32, if you count "Doves" twice). Many folks wanted to see the complete list, so here it is. I look forward to adding more birdsongs to future iterations. Wren • Cuckoo • Bluebird • “Small Birds” • Mollymauk • Red Bird • Robin • Owl • Turtledove • Eagle • Linnet • Nightingale • “White Snowflake” • Crow • Blackbird • Puffins • Chicken • Seagull • Goney • Dove (Noah’s) • Dove (Beaks as sharp as razors) • Swallow • Heron • Goose • Penguin • Hawk • Bawk • Duck • Noddy • Tinker • Turr • Tickleace

Midsummer -> Fall 2023 Updates 🌻🍃
Hello friends, As another season of sailing and singing raises its smoky head, I'll be traveling like the winding Connecticut up north through New England. When I'm not up by the clear coast of Maine, I can be found (brackish and estuarine) singing around local waters. This summer is loaded full with more sail than song as well as the two combined, but I am looking forward to fall already – let me know if you've got a good spot for me to do a show! Come listen, be sung at, sing with me. Find all the dates here.

Pop-Up House Concert
Hello, friends! I'll be traveling south from this rainy Connecticut winter for the weekend. Catch me in D.C., with a special appearance by the wonderful and smooth-voiced Lafayette Matthews. Hear some music to break through the gloom, and enjoy this flyer I had a lot of fun making. - A

Summer / Early Fall 2022 Tour
As the heat of late summer beats down on us and the northern coasts call, I'll be heading up to Maine to sing along the rocky coast with my bandmate Princess Pine. The turn of the month takes me down to Plymouth for TradMaD camp (where among other things I'll be teaching cello!) then back to Maine for some land-based gigs before heading out for four days on Victory Chimes with the whole Skylark Trio. Our summer of traipsing around New England finishes up with Skylark playing the 2022 Portsmouth Maritime Folk Festival. Looking forward a bit, a rare and exciting Twa Corbies appearance at the People's Voice Cafe in October!

Hi friends,
With the snowdrops peeking through and the first signs of spring showing, I'll be heading north from Connecticut with my trio Skylark and banjo player Kate McCann for a short tour in the second week of April. We'll be starting with the full trio playing a short fundraiser spot in Enfield, CT, then Kate and I head up to western Massachusetts and southern Vermont. We'll be presenting for a couple classes at Bennington College where Kate is an alum, and presenting at Bennington's weekly music workshop before finishing up near Brattleboro, VT.

Lesson Offerings
As the leaves of autumn fade and the days grow chillier, why not enliven your self-isolation by learning a new instrument – or expanding your knowledge of one you already play? Cellos are at home with concertos and sonatas, but that’s not the only place they belong. Let’s explore what else yours can sing. I’ll be offering virtual cello lessons starting mid-November that blend near twenty years of classical training and my cello performance degree with strong folk sensibilities. For more information, send me an email (in the sidebar) and check out the Lessons tab here on the site.
