modern day au where eleanor runs a mall, she became boss because nepotism and has absolutely no experience. she immediately starts hooking up with one of the hairdresser, max. her ex vane gets hired by the starbucks for the sole purpose of getting close to her but he barely lasts a week before getting fired for throwing boiling coffee at a customer that pissed him off. flint used to work at an evil corporation but quit everything when he discovered leftism. after three months of working at the grocery store he's immediately promoted to manager and he runs that shit like the navy. he catches silver shoplifting a ps5 but silver pretends he just started working here and he's just cleaning. billy who's friend with silver convinces gates, the assistant manager, to lie for him and say he's indeed hired silver. so they have to draft a contract and silver actually starts working there. max offers discounts haircut to all the mall employees to get gossip and she reports everything back to eleanor— except the fact that anne and jack are constantly smoking weed during their lunch breaks because she likes anne and tolerates her idiot boyfriend. flint is desperately trying to form an union and silver pretends he cares about it too so he can get away with stealing shit, until his leg gets injured at work and he starts to actually care about working conditions. vane manages to get rehired at starbucks and is on his best behavior, always coming by eleanor's office with dumb excuses until eleanor hooks up with him. max finds out and in retaliation she hooks up with anne on eleanor's desk. when eleanor sees the security footage she's too horny to be angry so they start the most ill-advised lesbian polycule. jack is on a never ending quest to get the mall renamed after him.

the 2x04 warship vs fort meeting is so funny to me because silver has absolutely no reason to be a part of it. could not more clearly be a private meeting for captains and their officers and yet who's perched on the windowsill but flints latest Boytoy Extraordinare with zero knowledge of naval strategy and has spent maybe a week total in nassau

the insanest thing ever said about silverflint in black sails was billy -- out of his sane mind -- going "they'd grown so close, it was hard to know where one ended and the other began. i worried that the act of separating them might destroy them both..." and it did destroy them and we're not talking about this nearly enough

the problem with black sails is that it perfectly tells the story it wants to tell how it wants to. it ends because the story is over. that's rare nowadays and it's great! I really think the story is perfect as is but simultaneously I can't help but want more of this universe more of these characters and all those dynamics. it manages to have the perfect conclusion that somehow still leaves me wanting more it's aarrggh

When no one in the world, no one, no one, could care less about what those men were doing to me on the beach, she did. That means something to me.

I love how Flint constantly oscillates between blood-spattered snarl and tear filled doe-eyes, it’s so him. Toby Stephens is really fucking great.

kiss the bride
[id: a digital drawing of silver and muldoon in 3x02 from the chest up. Both are underwater--Silver, an anguished look on his face, holds the back of Muldoon's head and kisses him. Muldoon's eyes are open and his face is blank. A few bubbles rise to the surface between them. The top third of the image is above water, and empty save for the small bit of Silver's head that stays above the waterline. end id.]

Some doodles including that mage AU I was thinking about (Silver as sorcerer and Flint as wizard... um I might take inspirations from DA mage designs....)

one thing I have loved about black sails since I first watched it is the fact that it doesn’t villainise anger. it doesn’t tell you that, without this devouring anger, a character would be thriving. It shows us anger being destructive, often through Anne, it shows us anger being infectious, like a fire that catches and cannot be put out, but most importantly it shows us anger as integral. It is at the centre of the struggle against empire, it is at the centre of Flint. He is not angry in spite of all his morality, he is angry because of it. He is angry because how else is he supposed to feel in the face of absolute injustice??
The show rejects the notion of anger as inherently immoral. I saw someone say that it shows us anger as the extension of love, rather than the antithesis of it. I think this is spot on. It shows us anger as born from the ashes of loss, and stoked in opposition to the forces that caused it. go anger!!!
Flint is angry because anger is the only emotion powerful enough to pull him up from his knees time and time again, and give him the tools to fight for what he believes in.
