Just, over & over & in every variation, there's Reed trying like hell to reach Victor, and Victor insisting he doesn't need anyone while also looking at Reed like this every time he thinks Reed can't see him?

There's Heroes Reborn where he outright asks Reed to join him, there's 1610 continuity where it's Victor who goes into Reed's room and fixes his math, there's Life Story where Victor makes masks for himself AND Reed--

There's, "No one sees me (only Reed did)," there's "And I loved him! He was my greatest love!" -- like, it really reads to me as Victor trying to avoid admitting anything to Reed because he liked him too much and, it scared him.

Best in Affection, day two of the Northeast Oklahoma Kennel Club show! Unfortunately, the judge I was stewarding for today had a very packed schedule and we had to move very quickly. There was not much of a break between sets and not many chances to mingle with exhibitors today, however! I did meet a few dogs after breed rings and before Groups.

Shiba Inu - A very young (eight months) Shiba sat with her handler next to me while watching the Best in Show ring. Typical of most Nihon Ken, she was not too keen on attention and instead, snuck in multiple licks of my hand when she thought I was not looking. After about ten minutes, she began pawing at my knee as if asking for pets, but would shy away again if I moved. Unclear what she wanted from me. 3/10

Icelandic Sheepdog - The same Icie I met yesterday who was very, very new to the world of showing. He was still nervous but seemed to have picked up his confidence a little! This time, instead of shying away from an offered hand, he sniffed curiously before deciding he did not want pets. I am disappointed, but very proud of him for improving his confidence. Extremely adorable, 5/10.

Tibetan Mastiff - As groups were wrapping up, there was suddenly a nose pressed against the back of my shoulder. Then a chin on my shoulder. He received several chin scritches while waiting for the Working Group to have their go. I apparently make a good chin rest. Tibetans are a little bit larger than I had expected. Very fluffy soft boy. 8/10

Golden Retriever - I met with the Golden I will be borrowing tomorrow evening to handle in the "B Match," a strictly-for-fun-and-practice set of showing. He was very calm and patient with me as his owner explained the steps I'll need to take to show off his best features, and by the time I had done a down-and-back a few times to figure out what speed would be best suited to show off his gait, he was ready to give me many kisses. I spent easily twenty minutes sitting on the floor with him, giving many belly rubs and ear scritches. I look forward to handling him tomorrow! His name is Pudge and he is a sweetheart. 9/10

Today's Best in Affection goes wholeheartedly to the FINNISH SPITZ! Groups were wrapping up, everyone was packing away and getting ready to turn over the venue from NEOKC to the Northwest Arkansas Kennel Club for Saturday and Sunday's shows. The Spitz was attempting to trade behaviors for attention from his handler. Handler was busy speaking with a judge about his placement. She asked me to hold his lead for a moment so she could be slightly less distracted speaking with judge. As soon as the lead was in my hand, he EXPLODED with delight and pressed at least 320% of his body weight against my leg, tail wagging so fast it was no longer visible to the human eye and just radiating enough sunshine and happiness to be having attention to melt the heart of a demon-- Incredibly soft, very delighted to be alive and clearly a dog who LIVES on being the center of attention. No wonder he finished his Championship today! He was made for stealing spotlights. 20/10, would add a Finnish Spitz to my own family if given the opportunity. Good boy.

At the dog show today, I received precisely six unique canine hugs today. Here's the posted results from Best in Affection:

6 - Great Dane. Less of a hug, more like simply shoving a very drooly muzzle against my chest. Very wet. Required paper towels afterwards. 4/10

5 - Belgian Laekenois. I was not expecting hugs. He caught me by surprise. Sudden wire coat in my face was alarming and scary. Surprisingly soft, and we both recovered quickly. 7/10

4 - Beagle (15"). Also unexpected, proceeded to bay in my ear. Painful, but very soft coat. Very unlike the hunting beagles I'm used to seeing/touching. 7/10

3 - German Shepherd. He just. Sat down next to me. And leaned. Very calming, reminded me much of Zelda. Turned out he was conspiring to steal my cinnamon roll. Also reminded me of Zelda. 9/10

2 - American Akita. It is quite shocking to see an Akita approach someone with the social exuberance of a Golden Retriever, but this gorgeous Akita decided I was worthy of her affection and demanded that I take it. 10/10

Today's Best in Affection award goes to BELGIAN TERVUREN.

Handler required someone to hold her dog while her other Terv was taken through the ring. I volunteered to do so. Terv decided that "Hold the dog" did not mean his lead, but to hold HIM. He did not fit in my lap but tried VERY VERY hard to do so. Surprisingly gentle and very good at giving kisses and did not want to exit my lap when his handler returned. Extremely fluffy and my entire hand completely disappeared into his mane and I am 300% in love with this dog. Brb, I'm gonna go track down his breeder-- 2000/10

It has come to my attention that Cynthia von Doom, the Romani mother of Victor von Doom is colored with blonde hair in The Thing (2021) #6. She has always been dark-haired. Even her dark eyes have been lightened. Her blonde hair texture is void of any wave or curls and is another whitewashing aspect.

They did the same to Valeria Karela in Wastelanders: Doom #1, a digital issue whose coloring had to be corrected. If this recent coloring error sets the groundwork for Valeria, Cynthia and Doom’s whitewashing as they enter the MCU, it is troubling. This contributes to whitewashing of Romani characters. Marvel colorists, artists, and editorial must do better.
