Do you guys ever thin about the fact that Telemachus thought his father died?

Like, do you think a 10 y/o Telemachus saw the fleet of ships approaching and thought his dad was, finally, finally coming home? Only to have his hopes completely crushed as everyone in Ithaca and their predecessors saw as the storm dragged the fleet away?

Do you ever think about the fact that he wanted to belive his dad was alive, surely, because It was prophesied that he would return, however an there's always a little Voice whispering in his ears saying he's waiting for the ghost of someone he never knew?

Do you ever think he'd stay nights awake, pondering and fighting with his own thoughts because sure it was said that his father was alive but what if- what if something happend? What if his life was already done? What if all the suitors were right and his mom wrong? What if? What if? What if?

Do you think he's plagged by Nightmares of his father dying, and his mom Breaking down, crying and weeping and unconsolable as the suitors get more and more ruthless?

Or maybe He'd plagged by dreams. Dreams where his dad managed to get home years ago, where the storm never happend, where he got to spend a small part of his childhood with his father. And those dreams are just as cruel, if not worse than his nightmares because he's yearning for something so out of his reach.

Do you think he mourned for the loss of a father he never knew?

Do you think when he went searching for news of his father on his diplomatic mission, that maybe he wanted to hear Odysseus was dead, that he was already gone. Because then he at least would know where his father is. Because then hoping wouldn't hurt so much. Or maybe he wanted to hear that Odysseus was alive.

That he was coming home, coming to them.

He didn't know what he wanted.

Do you think Telemachus would be upset that his dad took so long? While also happy, because it took long but Odysseus is here. In his arm.

Do you think Telemachus now smiles brightly at being called "Son of Odysseus" because he's no longer the son of a "dead" man, the mirror of a stranger who he can't recall the face.

Do you think when he was younger, he thought of himself as "Nobody's" son, because mom was there. And don't get him wrong, he absolutely loves his mom with every fiber of his body. But it's different.

Because you have

Nestor of Pylos, son of Nelaus.

Peisistratus of Pylos, son of Nestor.

Antinous of Ithaca, Son of Eupeithes.

And he's was just..

Telemachus of Ithaca, son of Nobody.

Because no matter how much people talked about his father, Telemachus held no such foundness for being Odysseus son to be something relevant.

Telemachus Design Inspired by the Odyssey + Things he said (basically)

So, Listen, I've got much to say abt my blorbo and how I've been imagining him as I read. I'm postponing it so I can first finish the chapter I'm on and then write abt him.

Things I wanna point out in my design in case no one noticed:

Telemachus has a heart in his bang ans heart-shaped waves on his hair (My Penelope Design also Has Heart Shaped bangs)

I imagine his hair is darker in the roots but lighter at the tips due to Sun exposure, due to training under Athena and also sailing in his diplomatic mission to find Info about Ody

His face shape is a mix between Ody's and Penelope☝️

Althought the shadow on his eyes seem bcs he's edge or smt, it's actually because of Hermes. Telemachus bangs cast a shadow on his face that resembles the Shadow casted by Hermes hat (if yk yk)

Yes he is annoyed/done with everyone's shit/tired most of the time. Try having strangers on your home trynna marry your mom and yall can't do Anything about it because that'd be the same as saying you Father is dead (Your mom think he's not) and then you'll get him)

Yes I do regret giving him such wavy hair. Yes his hair won't be consistent for shit.

Etaf and her family need your support.

They were displaced for 200 days, all the way induring the hellish tribulations of genocide. Luckily, they were able to flee into Egypt; however their struggles are not over.

Interesting Fact I just found— In the Odyssey, Odysseus is described as a Divo (divine), deiform

At least in the portuguese translation, Lol.

"All the gods pitied him, with the exception of Poseidon, who was still angry with the deiform Odysseus, so that he would not reach his homeland." Odyssey, Page 30; Paragraph 20.

Deiform means conforming to the nature of God : having the form of a god.

" "Como do divo Odisseu é possível que venha a me esquecer-me, que se distingue de todos os homens e, mais do que todos, faz sacrifícios aos deuses eternos, do céu moradores?" — Zeus "

Odysseus gets literally described as "Divine"/"God-Like" from Poseidon and Zeus themselves and I am shocked.

To be honest, perhaps I shouldn't be as shocked, due to Odysseus having Hermes blood (and apparently Zeus blood too, according to some people I know but I'm not sure if it's accurate)

Penelope also is described with the word divine, referring to her beauty. However, Penelope is described directly with the word "Divine" (divina), which makes it seem more methaphorical, while Odysseus is "Deiform", "Divo", it gives off a diff vibe y'know? (Also it coming from the gods)

I'm very early in so I'm keeping my mind blank for now, I just finished the Prelude and am getting to Part one telling the adventures of Telemachus.

Also even funnier fact, Divo in brazilian slang can quite literally mean a male Diva. So, I'm taking to the heart that Zeus just called Odysseus a Diva 🙏

OdyPen designs??

So this is my Penelope and Ody design so far, will definetly change it soon because I did those in class and from the top of my head.

Will be changing later and making full body references so I can work on some comic ideas I had lol.

Odysseus has a shaper type of face and I wanted to make him seem tired and Malnourished, It ended up kinda meh but it works out. Messy greesy hair, done with everyone's shit. It doesn't have much difference from other Odysseus designs lol.

For Penelope I was thinking about making a half up half down because a lot of designs I saw had her with a bun only or hair fully down and it didn't click for me. However, it was also because I remembered a statue of Penelope that had a few locks of hair down, and lo and behold it was her "main" (as in the first one that shows up) statue in Wikipedia lol.

She has a rounder face and curly strands framing her hair. (Btw I never realized how CURLY her hair is despicted as, not just wavy). I saw once "Telemachus has heart shaped bangs" and decided he got it from Penelope, so she got heart shaped bangs (somewhat, I ended up Smudging it with my hand and the second time I drew it looked less heart shaped).

Softer eyes and thicker eyebrows than Ody, tho it doesn't show much on the style I drew. I'll probably make it more visible the next time I draw her.

Anyways you get the idea.
