Dambulla Cave Temple. A UNESCO world heritage site. There lies five caves where the intricate carvings of Buddha over different times and Sri Lanka dynasties. It’s an amazing architectural marvel across many dynasties and the preservation is unreal!

Kandy. The city in-between the wet and dry zone. At this point we’re still 600m above sea level and temperatures are starting to hit the mid 20s. What you see here is the heart of the city, and Kandy Lake (or Kiri Muhuda, or the Sea of Milk) is a manmade lake built in the 1800s next to the iconic “Temple of the Tooth”. @x_estherchong and I took a relaxing walk around the lake. The bustling traffic, businesses and city activities that reside around this lake is simply amazing. Heritance Tea Factory Hotel, a wonderful charm atop Nuwara Eliya. We’re on the hill tops amongst the tea plantations. The hotel used to be an old tea factory. Now turned into a hotel, while keep the rustic charm and moving parts of the old elevators, moving motors and wooden floorboards. Extremely lovely. Sadly I fell sick, ran a fever and had to spend an entire day resting in bed. This was on the second morning after, where I was well enough to be back on my feet, seeing these dogs look out into the beautiful sunrise. Missed the leopard by that little bit. We drove down this road looking for the leopard. We reached the end of the road, and luck wasn’t with us, so we u-turned. Suddenly our driver stopped, pointing to the ground where these fresh leopard paw prints were next/on top of our tyre tracks! We scoured around but couldn’t see the evasive animal. Welcome to the dry zone. The area we’re in, Yala, South-East Sri Lanka, is very dry and largely arid. In our 24 hours in the region, I remember feeling pretty dehydrated all the time. The area features salt-pans, lots of sand, and shrilled dry plants with many thistles, leaves with surface area so fine and small to last the dry, hot weather. In this photo, we were standing at a man-made lake/reservoir, in preparation for plans to irrigate the lower lands. So we don’t get Auto-Rickshaws in Singapore 🇸🇬 (and honestly I’m glad we don’t). But for a large part in the developing world and especially the countries around us (Thailand, Indonesia, India, Philippines, Cambodia, China, and in this pic, Sri Lanka) all boasts the affordable ride! There’s this little charm in the ordinary Tuk-Tuk, and I salute to the motorist who have the patience to share the road with them 😂 Did you know, “Bajaj Auto” 🇮🇳 (India) is the biggest maker of Tuk-Tuks? Did you also know that the Auto-Rickshaw/Tuk-tuk originated from Japan in the 1930s, and first shipped to Thailand.
