I cant believe my 3 months on this island has almost come to an end. It's been an absolutely amazing experience. I've seen a lot of what this place has to offer and I've made a lot of money at the same time to fund the rest of my australian trip! Excited to get back to civilization!🌴

Absolutely in love with the weather on the island now that it's cooled down. The "dry season" is beginning, which means less rain, less humidity and more wind. Clear skies mean I can watch the moon rise and star gaze for hours without melting into a puddle 🌗 (at Groote Eylandt)

I will never not be excited by driving on a beach, especially when we randomly veer off through the jungle to be taken to a very sacred part of the island, Red Sands, to watch the sunset and catch some crayfish in the dark! 🌒 (at Groote Eylandt)

The biggest draw of moving to this tiny island is living in such a small community and getting to know the local aborigional people, a rare opportunity for most travellers. It's been fun meeting new people, getting involved with different activities (especially basketball with the kids!) and learning about this culture that is so different to my own ✌ (at Groote Island)

Hanging Rock isn't very high up, but the view is still wonderful. I sat up there for at least an hour being totally unsociable but not caring one bit. The contrast between the red stone and the turquoise water was mesmerising, if only the water was deep enough to jump into!🐚🌊 (at Groote Eylandt)

When I first arrived on the island I met this dog mamed Blackie who was terrified of his own shadow because he was mistreated by his owners. After just a week of love and attention he turned into a different dog, so happy and such a dork. He follows me around everywhere, always wanting to play and always wanting attention. I will miss him more than any person when I leave! 🐾👣 (at Groote Eylandt)

I never understood the term "living for the weekend" until now. During the week I'm a chef for Aged Care, helping the old people in the community. But at the weekend I'm free to explore this island and the incredible places around it. Fishing has become my new favourite hobby, especially when we stop at places like this to swim! A big difference that I've noticed in the aboriginal community is the way they deal with death. When a person dies you can't speak their name, their families paint themselves with bands of red and the whole town will close for a "sorry day". A ceremony with music and dancing proceeds the burial, and their graves are covered with bright flowers all year round. (at Groote Eylandt)

Finally getting into the water after a week of unbareable heat and humidity has to be one of the best feelings in the world 👙 Most weekends we'll head out on the boat to go fishing and find a spot like this for lunch: a small beach and calm water, free of sharks and crocodiles 🐊

The island I'm currently living on is so small and flat that you can barely see it on the horizon only a mile off shore... but when the water is this calm it's a perfect day to escape the crocodile infested waters and head into much deeper shark infested waters for a spot of fishing! 🐟 (at Groote Eylandt)

Settling into my new island home nicely! The major downside is that you can't swim in the sea because it is literally infested with sharks and crocodiles.... 🐊 it's only slightly less risky at low tide! Time for a cheeky paddle as the sun sets 🌅 (at Groote Eylandt)

One minute I'm chilling in Darwin, the next I'm on a tiny plane flying to a tiny island to live and work in a tiny aboriginal community for three months! It's going to be difficult at times, and a huge culture shock, but altogether an incredible experience that I'm lucky to have! (at Groote Eylandt)

One of the most beautiful spots in Litchfield National Park was Wangi Falls. You can't swim there at this time of year because of crocodiles but you can sit back and watch the water crashing down through a rainbow and the mist keeps you cool enough 🌈 (at Wangi Falls)

Litchfield Park near Darwin has some great waterfalls, swimming holes, lush green jungle and some really huge and slightly terrifying termite mounds!? I've never seen anything like it! This isn't even the biggest one. What's up with that, Australia!? (at Litchfield National Park)

I was pretty devestated to leave Perth and its beautiful beaches, but I soon realised what an awesome little city Darwin is, despite the relentless humidity and the crocodile infested waters.... There's a crocodile park to visit, a safe lagoon and wave pool for swimming and you can grab some good food while you watch the sunset from Stokes Hill Wharf 🌅 (at Darwin, Northern Territory)

For years I've wanted to visit the island of Rottnest off the coast of Perth just to see these adorable little Quokkas and I finally got the chance! They are so damn cute, and they will jump right over to say hello! Ferries on Tuesdays are only $39 return from Fremantle, or $59 with bike rental which I would definitely recommend! We cycled around the whole island, stopping at different beaches to snorkel, and cooked lunch on one of the free BBQs 🚲 (at Rottnest Island)

After spending two weeks in Perth I've absolutely fallen in love with it. It has everything you need: beaches, nightlife, shopping, gardens, wildlife, activities and adventure. It's definitely worth the trip across the country, especially with the beaches that line the entire coast of WA 🌴🌞 (at Kings Park, Perth, Australia)
