A walk towards the final Journey
(My Entrepreneurial Mind Journal: What was the group decisions and lesson learned from last week)
Blog #4
Over the month in this entrepreneurship class were planning for a start-up is a must, we slowly start to understand the hardship of pursuing success in business especially now that the situations we are in is not normal. Our patience, creativity, resourcefulness and collaborative skills were measured in forming our emphaty canvas, business model canvas, cost structure breakdown and final pitching proposal into reality.
But before making it to the final stage which is clearly the final pitching, for the last two weeks we used our spare time in working for this big project. We undergo several discussion on how to improve our start-up ideas especially how should we make buyers and investors be convinced in our proposal. We revised some of our plans and cost analysis then decides what to do next. Lastly, we carry out a follow up survey and launch a limited validation (due to some constraints caused by Covid-19) to the farmers and some of the neighboring stores in Kapatagan, Digos, Davao Del Sur. Through this we are able to know who will support and benefit in our product. To specify, by this validation we are able to know more about the crisis faced by the local farmers of the said place and with that we are more boasted up to explore more about the situations they are in and how our business can be adjusted to help them gain income and at the same time make our business prosper. Moreover, with this we are able to know what approach should we use to introduce strawberry farming and productions benefits to them (farmer) and also the people (target market) not only in Kapatagan alone, but also for the whole Mindanao who lacks supply of this fruits. The validation help us a lot in fixing some of the imperfections in our idea that could somehow result in a huge return, discount, fix and substitution costs.
In addition, our teams vision for SevCial Co. is to be the middle man of farmers and malls in the whole Mindanao. With a mission of "Filling the lack of supply in the whole Mindanao with best strawberries in terms of quality, taste, and convenience". This is hitting 2 birds with one stone, in which we primarily intended to help and support our local farmers at the same time provide the unavailability of the product in markets/malls. Not only does it outline our team's desired outcome, but it can communicate intentions and hopes for the future. With all of these assets we assumed that this encourages buyers, investors and people to support and be convinced that our business and it's goal well do great possibilities in business world.
In the end, I have learned a lot of things from the last 2 week of my entreprenuship journey, below are the lessons I haved picked up throughout the process.
when starting a business it is a basic action to concretized the idea that the team has dicided to understand what your business has set out to accomplish because it can have a positive impact on a company’s well-being. No matter what the business, a good mission and vision statement can inspire and motivate your team and employees to make that vision a reality.
it is important to launch an idea/survey validation first to what does our potential clients exactly needed and know more about their pain points so that activities and steps we set can guarantee that our aims are met successfully and proficiently.
Lastly, I have learned the importance of setting goals and expectations, testing ideas and marketing strategies are one of the efficient ways in how to achieve the teams purpose and periodically evaluate progress toward goals and steps for better improvements.
Amidst the problem of being behind of the topic for this subject, we are glad than even just for a short period of time and limited class session due to busy schedules we have grasp bounty of learnings in this entrepreneurship class from our kind and understanding teacher Ma'am Leanne. Without her dedication and patience in holding special classes and sincerity in accepting us we would have not been able to grow and learn something new and useful especially in entreprenuship. I am grateful to you for everything, I learn and clarify new things and ideas that would be of great help for my future.

The Knowledge and Awareness I have Gained from the 2 Lecture Series
Gee 16 (Entrepreneurial Mind)
This content was all about the things that I learned in the 2 day lecture series with a topic about L1- The Intellectual Property Rights and Technology by Dr. Gamaleila A. Dumancas. L2- Transfer Team Formation and Resources shared by Ma'am Karen H. Lacadin. These talk has opened new ideas that deepened my knowledge in engaging into businesses and expose myself to multiple key elements of innovation and entrepreneurship through the unique opportunity of seeing and hearing insights and viewpoints from diverse speakers in varied industries.
I have always thought that "businessmen's are successful in the field when it can establish another business franchise". And there it comes the lecture series, as I've lessen to the discussion my questions are slowly answered and it lead to clear some of my understanding into a big misconception. It is said that aiming for further business development and commercialisation will go through a transfer of scientific findings from one organization to another, a process called technology transfer in which this process will work by identifying new technologies, protecting technologies through patents and copyrights, and most importantly, forming development and commercialisation strategies such as marketing and licensing to existing private sector companies or creating new startup companies based on the technology. Moreover, contrary to what I believe, publishing research will not guarantee that someone will notice your discovery and continue developing it into a tangible product that will reach the end user. As the speaker previously mentioned, technologies first need to be developed and that is achieved through collaborations with industrial partners. The end goal of the commercialization strategy is to establish a commercial relationship with another party.
Now for the second day of lecture, these are one of the lines I've learned through the webinar from last week "start up business ideas originated to resolve pressing issues in a community". Which is exactly right! The need to look at problems not as something that is impossible to address, but as something that we can accomplish in the next five or ten years is essential in being an entrepreneur. Every single social problem is an opportunity. And we know these as we have witness it's outcomes today because there are social entrepreneurs working on every identified social issue, with a bright insights in a successful way. That's why, a business should be established to support local products and potentials, and starting a business should aim to build a collaborative community instead of leading a business to compete other existing business in the area. To be able to grow and succeed, come up with a solution to issues and problems faced by the community and other existing business in your target places. In addition, it is clearly emphasized by the speaker to choose your team wisely. In forming a team choose those who are competent, capable, skillful, adaptable and determined people. Choosing a team should be done more carefully and throughly to make sure that a team you will work to will understand the reasons and goals of your business, with common goals and perspectives, and balanced personalities.
Start-up may be small companies but they play a significant role in economic growth of our society. Both speakers have their own experiences of starting a business. Be it a success or a failure, the most important thing is they have learned something by doing things others don't do. With their experience and learning they are able to share wisdom and ideas that would be a great help in leading us to explore and embrace different institutions that supports innovation and entrepreneurship.

Here's My Second Blog Input
(My Entrepreneurial Mind Journey: What was the group decisions and lesson learned from last week)
As we go beyond our limits and start to explore the problems present in our community, me together with my group mates noticed that farmers are slowly declining in terms of profit based business. It urge our instincts to hoist our start-up, SevCial Co. Strawberry Farming and Production into reality.
Our team conducted an interview to the local farmers to test and validate the hypothesis for our proposed start-up business which is SevCial.Co strawberry farming. The team hypothesis for this Strawberry Farming and Production is yielded products can provide the needs of enough strawberry product in the malls/markets and address the problems of the farmers that is crucially losing than gaining from vegetable farming. With this we can give opportunity to help these farmers to gain a profit and at the same time to help sustain the availability and provide peoples demand of strawberry in all supermarket and mall in the whole Mindanao.
The hypothesis is tested and validated through a conduct of an interview from the 4 farmers in the area. The interview is composed of 3 questions that covers; how was the planting today, are the crops being sell in an expensive prices, how much is your estimated capital and expenses in farming?
The result of the validation survey is the context whether the proposed start-up could provide the needs of enough strawberry product supply in the malls/markets in Mindanao and at the same time address the problems of the farmers that is crucially losing profit than gaining from vegetable farming. It was found out that the emerged and mentioned problem of the respondents is favorable towards the intended goal and purpose of SevCial Co. Strawberry Farming and Production.
In conclusion, our proposed start-up product outcome was able to address the needs and problems of the farmers and markets. SevCial Co Strawberry Farming and Production has pass the validity of being able to give opportunity in helping the farmers and at the same time help establishments like supermarkets and malls strawberry supply unceasing.
The team came up with strawberry business because in the Philippines, strawberries are novelty in Mindanao and, as a result, it fetch a very attractive price in the market. So in short it is quiet rare and not most of us are lucky enough to experience it's great deliciousness. The lure of a substantial increase in income enticed us to encourage the local farmers in Barangay Kapatagan, Digos City, Davao del Sur to shift from vegetable farming to strawberry cultivation. The area stated has conditions which will serve as basis for recommending the production of the commodity in the area, that's why among the area each of us presented as an option for good soil quality and temperature the location chosen by the team unanimously as the area of strawberry cultivation is Digos City, Davao Del Sur as it is endowed with cool climate and good soil quality which is an important requirement for strawberry production. Our team decided this start-up not to fill in the gaps and satisfaction of the peoples fancy wants but also to offer an enormous possibility of augmenting the lives of low-income farmers in Davao del Sur.
Starting a business sturt-up is very very hard and a total idea sucker. Our team has plan, set, revised and repeat it was like running in circles, no ending. Planning a start-up needs more follow up, brainstorming, hypothesis making, team work and most importantly validation. Validation is significant. The team learned it's important since it allows to ensure if there is an actual advantage and benefits to the people who will be involve in the lunching and shows vision if it will hit a demand in the markets. This shows the feasibility and possible hitches of the start-up business.
With this mind-blowing journey, I have learned that it is better to be ready for possible consequences and outcomes in every decisions we take. Thus, don't just lock your ideas and stick to that until the end. It's important to have a lot of back up plans hidden in our sleeves to avoid cramming and frustration for unpredictable failures. Backup plans will help us stand and continue to walk if we fail in the first step of our journey to the betterment and success.

How does an "Entrepreneurial Mindset" learning make our lives better?
(My Entrepreneurial Mind Journey: What do I Understand from the Introductory Class Discussion)
All throughout the introduction of Entrepreneurship to us, I've come to realize its' essence and how it affects our daily lives. As a young woman that has been introduced to the effects and advantage of starting a business, it was a great and aspiring opportunity at the same time a huge pressure in my self, overthinking many ways on How can I obtain such success at a young age?
I have learned that:
A person who undertakes the risk of starting a new business venture is called an entrepreneur.
Entrepreneurship is crucial to everyone, as it has the capacity to improve standards of living at the same time in making money. Not only for their own benefits but for the sake of all that is involve.
Entrepreneurs also serves to cope in the fast pace of change in the world through emerging new and improved innovations, where new and improved products and things enable markets to be developed (high employment opportunity rate will emerged).
Entrepreneurship is high-risk, but also it can be high-reward.
There's so many opportunities and guidance we (students) have right now to develop our business mindset skills, all we need to do is listen and act upon the process and master up our courage to take some risk and have a perseverance in every hardship we encounter, to realized our endeavors. It was all just a matter of guts, reselience, initiative and tenacity to accomplish what we aim for.
I have learn through discussion and reading various articles that having a business mindset is not about building and coming up with new product for you to sale and earn money, because that's also considered us one (business). But it is more than that, being an Entrepreneur is broad, if you want to become a millionaire or (successful to avoid being edgy) at a young age why don't you think of something that will earn you money for your two hours of just scrolling in facebook everyday. Successful people preserve and use that time to brainstorm ideas for possible business and elevate their sales while some just waste time doing useless things.
Entrepreneurship thought us how to value every single minute of our time, for them "time is gold!", because money can be earned if it is wasted by failure businesses but the time you've spent laying down in your bed, watching k-drama and anime, facebook scrolling and video streaming you're just literally doing nothing for you to shine and be rich, all you do is give yourself bounty of illness and diseases that makes yourself unhealthy in any ways, also it will negatively affects your brain functioning.
That is why laziness is widely known as a major cause of poverty, this chronic malady causes people of today ought to do temporary hapiness instead of conserving time for unlimited luxury. That's why it is an advantage for younger generations to be introduced to the world of Entrepreneurship where everything is not going to be easy, but at a time it's going to be super worth it.
We all know that most of us isn't blessed to have this unique abilities but by learning and focusing our goal to certain incapabilities, it will certainly, lead us to improvement. Nothing is farther from the truth. They may be superior but to think that we are still a human and that we are all the same! We are all born with qualities that can make us great entrepreneurs, if not in business maybe in life for sure. We just need to find what we're good at and develop those skills and qualities even if we’re not building businesses.
Introducing Entrepreneurship to schools has awaken the curiosity and innovation skills of the youth that allows us to participate and go beyond the limits and explore the uncertainties risk has obtain. As we students, grow fond to the idea of Entrepreneurship our curiosities drive us to understand how good it is to help others, solve a real life problems at the same time learn to make money even if we're still in a school uniform. Through step by step learning and guidance of adults (parents and teachers) we students are able to:
Acquire and apply daily learning
Developed multi level learning channels
Develop conceptual perspective
Inhances innovative personality ability
Adopt to changes
Learn to trust ourselves
Become independent
Those aspects may not be complete but as long as we can now identify it's influence to success, it was easy for us to understand and admire the characteristics and success of entrepreneurs. Those that have entreprenurial mindsets are able to withstand every possible problems that will come. Since they are the type of people that has different perspective and mindsets. They accept every downfall and challenges as an opportunity. They foresee failure as the chance to victory.
These online entrepreneur classes help us open our minds to the truths of reality. With this subject it is indeed a guide for younger generations to learn how to handle and develop our innovative and entrepreneurial mindsets so that we will able to practice ourselves how to carefully evaluate every decisions we make either profitable or not because our choices and determination in life is the one that will determine our success in the end of the journey. With this mindset, we the learners are able to recognize potentially profitable opportunities, generate creative solutions to important problems, assess and minimize risk, gather critical resources, and present solutions to interested people. By doing so, we can change ourselves into a better person with a clear set of goals and has a better understanding to other peoples perspectives. Hope to learn more ideas as we dig deeper through this topic.
