Canon about Herbert West from the RA novelization (Before Miskatonic):
* Very likely killed his parents, even if it was accidental. (Chemical fire.) Likely not convicted, as he inherited and then sold his family estates.
* He was 13 when this happened, and spent the next 5 years in the foster system.
* As a child, he developed a stiff neck from hunching over a microscope for so long. He tried to amend this by balancing encyclopedias on his forehead.
* Has an aversion to sound. His parents watched a lot of TV, which held no interest for him. One of the reasons he liked Zurich was because of how quiet it was.
* Also has instances where he takes others’ statements literally. (Very autistic-coded.)
* Poisoned one of his foster siblings, resulting in him having green semen. (How Herbert even KNEW about this side effect is never explained. Yick!)
* From Ontario, Canada, originally.
* Attended New York University for undergraduate. They gave him a full scholarship.
* Studied with Gruber for approximately 3 years before his untimely death. (West was 24 at the time.)
* Wrote a complaint letter about the medical community in a science journal that attracted Hans Gruber’s attention.
* Herbert got everything in Gruber’s will. (How this wasn’t grounds for a murder trial is beyond me.)
* Spent his childhood talking to himself while watching the grass grow through the sidewalks. His parents (unsurprisingly) sent him to a psychiatrist.
* Had an unspoken father/son relationship with Dr. Gruber. (BTW, Hill’s mentioning of Gruber is the reason he’s crying in that deleted scene, not Dan.)

Canon about Daniel Cain from the RA novelization:
* His middle name is Johnathan
* Attended Johns Hopkins University for undergrad.
* His father was a lawyer. There’s a bit of a conflicting error in the text that states Dan “enjoyed listening to his lectures (even now),” but then later in the book claims his parents died in a car crash when he was an infant. It’s hard to discern which storyline Rovin is following.
* The death of his parents created a kind of trauma that arrises every time he’s faced with death of a patient or anyone else. (Mainly Rufus, in this example.)
* Raised by a “spinster” aunt who “had the sensibilities of a nun” (Meg’s words).
* Hooked up with at least five girls at Miskatonic before meeting Meg. (“Damn, Daniel!”)
* Gets teased about his last name by a colleague, who refers to him as “Nova,” “Coe,” or “Candy.”
* Former roommate was named Eddie Grimley. Eddie’s parents had a lot of money that afforded them the rent of a whole house. Eddie dropped out of medical school to become a dancer. This is what led Dan to post the vacancy.
* Dan is a habitual stoner.
* Is a football fan, at least enough to hold a casual conversation about it.
* He and Meg had been dating for six months before Herbert’s arrival at MU. They were already engaged.
* Has Star Trek bedsheets. (Yes, it was pertinent for me to restate that.)

one of my big loves about Bride, is... there’s these moments of shocking softness from Herbert, always toward Dan, and always Dan seems entirely unaware of them (at least consciously). Like, Herbert’s not a soft person-- he’s pragmatic and ruthless and driven-- but Bride makes it clear that Dan isn’t just somebody he needs, Dan is somebody he cares about.

One advantage of not really having a strong sense of gender identity is that you’re very [shrug emoji] about how people gender you. Sometimes people call me by she/her pronouns and sometimes they go with he/him pronouns and on the internet people often default to they/them, and neither option is entirely right but also, fuck if I know what would be right, and I don’t particularly care. Therefore I’m perfectly happy to outsource my gender identity to the people around me who actually need to figure out which box to put me in. I don’t need to talk about myself in third person, so really my pronouns sound like a you problem.

I just like how Launchpad and Drake met each other in their most cringest moments and they still love and think the world of each other y'know with Drake being all nervous meeting Jim Starling the first time and saying something as wacky as the jar thing and then Launchpad locking him in his trailer later and them fighting they're both dorks
They're both massive dorks, which is everything a good friendship should be!
It's genuinely such a refreshing deviation from DW91 - obviously I love the original series, but DW's dickishness kept Launchpad firmly in the 'sidekick' role, with their friendship being secondary.
I'll never get over their friendship being the focus in DT17

it seems so strange to me that the only people it is socially acceptable to live with (once you reach a certain stage in life) are sexual partners? like why can’t i live with my best friend? why can’t i raise a child with them? why do i need to have sex with someone in order to live with them? why do we put certain relationships on a pedestal? why don’t we value non-sexual relationships enough? why do life partners always have to be sexual partners?
#I share a home with my sister and her hubbie#and it's so much more practical#but also so much more FUN

‘The Evil Dead’ Returning to Theaters for Groovy 40th Anniversary Screenings.
The Evil Dead is returning to theaters for its 40th anniversary later this year, proving the staying power of Sam Raimi’s microbudget horror classic. Additionally, the always groovy Bruce Campbell will deliver an exclusive introduction to audiences. The special limited screenings will be brought to theaters everywhere by Fathom Events and Grindhouse Releasing, AND Lionsgate Home Entertainment will be releasing a collectible box set of The Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, and three seasons of Ash vs. the Evil Dead.
The Evil Dead spawned an incredible franchise that is still ongoing today, but in 1981 it was a microbudget horror film that gave us now-classic horror tropes like the cabin in the woods, reading Latin aloud to revive evil spirits, as well as one of the most iconic heroes of all time — Campbell’s Ash. The original Evil Dead follows Ash, his girlfriend, his sister, and their friends as they stay in a remote cabin for a weekend getaway. In the basement, they find the Necronomicon Ex-Mortis (aka The Book of the Dead), and unwittingly reawaken the dead when they read the Latin aloud. What happens next is the perfect blend of camp, comedy, and horror, as the inhabitants quickly become possessed and fight each other to the death.
Grindhouse Releasing co-founder Bob Murawski said of the re-release, “We are proud to present this special 40th anniversary screening of Evil Dead with Fathom Events. The original film has always been my favorite of the series. It is truly one of the scariest and wildest horror films of all time. I’m thrilled that a new generation of fans will have the chance to experience it in the way I first did — on the big screen with a screaming audience!” The franchise is still not over either, as Raimi and Campbell plan to reunite for Evil Dead Rise, the fourth film in the series. According to Campbell, production will start this year in New Zealand, and will actually feature a female heroine as the protagonist. Which unfortunately does mean that we will not be seeing Ash again, nor will Raimi direct, but both will serve as executive producers on the film. Raimi handpicked The Hole in the Ground’s Lee Cronin as the writer/director, which will be released by HBO Max in 2022.
While there was a soft reboot of the original film in 2013, Evil Dead Rise will follow the original trilogy, and be one of the first films to take the action into an urbanized area. The female protagonists will be two estranged sisters who must reunite to survive another Deadite revival as they take over the city. Vikings’ Alyssa Sutherland and Mental’s Lily Sullivan will play the two sisters.
The 40th-anniversary screenings of The Evil Dead will premiere on Thursday, October 7 at 7:30 PM (local time). You can buy tickets on Friday, August 13 at www.FathomEvents.com and through participating cinemas’ box offices.
