this trope is exhausteddddd as fuck please stoppppppp

i literally find this trope over and over again just an excuse to make the main character stupid as fuck, naive and trust all the wrong people so the story can happen, or for the world building to be like wow this very brand new shiny thing, for the reader to insert themselves in.

we already know that amnesia will be used to establish unbalanced power dynamics with the main character and every single motherfucker in the story , for the mystery of their past to happen etc etc

why not make it interesting??????

and they always have some freak to look at them and say "wow you're sooooo pure and your view of the world is sooo innocent." like? yeah? because they don't have their full faculties and need a trusted adult and it certainly not you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

and it always have a nice load of the "the born sexy yesterday"

and you know what i hate the most??? it's a way to make the main character comfortably passive, the biggest sin to ever sinned, so people tell them what to do, so others teach them about stuff, they wait for characters to come around

no need to develop a personality when the little 2d baby doesn't have their memories, they can be a nice blank sheet of paper, just a yes or no type ass character.

they don't need to do anything, because they have to rest. it's only reasonable. they just go with the flow that the write obviously put 123 steps for.

i've been feeling incredible anger and frustration lately with these posts lamenting what the next four years will look like in the u.s., how much "worse" things will get under the trump administration, as if we haven't been witnessing a holocaust for the past year funded by the biden administration. if you have seen a single video from gaza, a single picture, read a feature from a gazan journalist, spoken to a single person in your inbox when they plead for your attention and help, words like "worse" or "better" turn to ash in your mouth. just yesterday my friend hilda texted me that even when her family manages to get food, smoke from the fire needed to cook aggravates her sinus allergies, making it difficult to breathe. this is how she's been living for the past year and a month, under a democrat-funded genocide.
