people act like being critical of the shit you like is some sort of weird stressful thing thats new and forced on the internet. like lol no, everyone is critical of their interests

you thought the movie was too straight and didnt have any gay characters? thats being critical. you thought it had a lot of awkward scenes that couldve been handled better? thats been critical. you didnt like that the director made misogynistic remarks? thats being critical

im so tired of people acting like being critical is something so tough and time consuming. 99% of the time, you already do it, you just dont want to recognize the pedophilia/racism/antisemitism/etc in the media you love

it fucks me up that tolkien only died in 1973. dude has the vibe of a victorian scholar who wrote all his manuscripts by candlelight but then you look him up and realise that he knew what color tv was. what the fuck.

guys its a wonderful life was literally such an anticapitalist masterpiece that the FBI claimed it was communist propaganda and under investigation they found the movie “deliberately maligned the upper class, attempting to show the people who had money were mean and despicable characters.“

So while I was getting my haircut, the lady asked me if I had other plans for the day and I said:

“I’m just going to pick up the boy from daycare and then it’s date night.”

And the lady says “Oh! How old is he?”

“He’s three.”

“Mine too! Where are you registering him for kindergarten it’s such a hassle-”

And that’s when I realized I said “boy” and not “dog” because I always think of Charlie as “good boy” but this slip up has lead to a miscommunication.

The lady is now 6 minutes into a clearly needed rant about how unnecessarily complex shopping for schools is, esp when you have a neurodivergent child, so I can’t just tell her that Charlie is a dog because then she’ll feel awkward for unloading on me and she clearly has enough going on.

So the rest of the haircut became a game of “how much can I say about Charlie without revealing that he is not a human child?” And the answer is “enough to cover a half hour hair appointment, quite possibly several hours worth if I’m specific enough”

whenever i see a girl complaining abt her shitty boyfriend and she says that “guys are just like that!” i’m always so sad, because i know girls that are in happy and healthy romantic relationships with men! having a crappy, horrible boyfriend is not something that’s inevitable if you like men. if a man isn’t fulfilling your needs or if he’s simply just a piece of crap, you don’t have to stay in a relationship with him. not to be cliché, but not all men are like that!!! if your man ain’t shit, find a better one!!! it’ll all be alright, please realise and admit to yourself that you deserve better, and that better is out there!!! you need to put yourself first.

Dear female Fanfiction writers on Tumblr,

Please consider writing for gender neutral, or even male readers, and readers of other genders. We exist, and it is very hard for us to find stories on this website.

If you only write for female readers: Please don’t just say that it’s a ‘character abc x reader’ fic. It can easily misinterpreted as a story for gender neutral readers. Specify the gender of the reader on your fics, that shows some support as well.

Give blog recommendations of writers who write for readers of other genders as well. That helps a lot.

But most important: Show your support. Do not exclude readers who aren’t female.
