helpful tips for writing
so a lot of nonnies have been asking me to help them by sharing my tips and a lil advice when it comes to writing, so here it is!
psa: i am not a professional writer. what works for me will not work for everyone. how i write, and how i express myself through a scene may be entirely different than what you do. that's ok, but i just wanted to share what works for me. enjoy!
feel free to reblog, add on to this or whatever. please read all the way through if you don't mind!
writing angst/emotional scenes
honestly, this was probably one of the hardest things to write. to be able to capture and properly project an emotion or feeling into a scene is something it took me a while to get used to.
something i do to help, is try to imagine myself in that scene. what the characters would he feeling, how they would express themselves/react to a certain phrase/action. maybe a description of the area around them. really try to set the mood for whatever feeling is being added into a scene.
i would also try to keep dialogue either very abrupt or rambly depending on what you're trying to convey. frantic cries or maybe soft mumbles that caused an abrupt pause in the room. either emotional numbness, deadpanning looks or even nervous, sobbing, and audibly upset conversations.
i would try to stray away from describing the room or the characters a lot. it's going to help place the setting and stabilize the emotional aspect, but you don't want it to stall the scene or make it feel scratchy in a way. you want it to flow, but have it be dramatic as well. it's all about finding a good balance.
fluffy/romantic scenes
everyone i know is a little bitch for cute and adorable scenes, so these fics are definitely very popular amongst fandoms of any kind.
fluffy concepts are cute, but have fun with it! no one wants to read the same "they smiled at eachother and fell asleep" bullshit everytime. make it unique! give your characters the soft moments in between the tickle fights and the playful banter.
romantic fics are so goddamn amazing. giving your stories a plot line and a dynamic between the characters is so important, i can't stress it enough. the vocabulary especially. express their feelings of pining and heartbreak through words that will strike a cord in the reader. make them feel what their feeling. write the hell of out of a scene if you feel that it's too important just to skim over. write a paragraph explaining the immense feeling of absolute dread having the reader see them with someone else. give them a rollercoaster ride.
if you're writing a fic that inevitably ends in heartbreak, foreshadowing is always great. at least warn the people before you go breaking their hearts. i guess this could also apply to the angst section, but just make it yours. make a scene that sticks with you and makes you feel like you're heart's breaking in half too. make it feel like their world is torn apart. or maybe don't. make it feel numb, nothing at all. express the absolute emptiness they feel afterwards and even during the scene. make it frantic, slow, fast, easy, quick; whatever fits the narrative you're working with.
series/multiple parts
god, slowburn is fucking amazing, but only if you do it right. when they're fast and rushing into it before they even know what they have together is also amazing. but only if you can play out the feelings and adrenaline rush correctly.
slowburn. it's a bitch but we all read it anyways, and here's why: it's the absolute pining and want and need for each other that we all crave in some way or another. the feeling of being so completely immersed in someone to the point of breaking and spilling everything you have into the open is such an amazing concept to write about.
so i would suggest to write the tension. make the reader feel the air between them lighting up but never feeling like you can do anything about it. make it feel almost hopeless in a way. write the frustration and the anger in their movements. the built up pension coursing through their bodies; make it feel like as though it's a half of their heart missing and they need it because they've never had it before.
rushing into things. young love, i'm pretty sure? completely disregarding everything just to be with that one person, over everything else. feeling on top of the world before they even know what the world is. it's a beautiful peace of life, and also very heartbreaking.
most in-real-life instances such as these often end in heartbreak and dispair, a tragic loss of a flame that burned out too soon. writing this is very interesting, only because the initial spark of meeting is the stressing point.
the electricity that sparked their hearts and chest into overdrive from a simple touch burned into their heads that they were in love. the rush and adrenaline ride of the high was the best part. then they crash and burn.
its an interesting dynamic and its one a lot of writers spin in their own way. if you wanna make it last though, find a different starting point along the way. maybe a young, gracious warmth fluttered through their chests, or maybe it was nothing but a smile that absolutely melted your thought process.
beating writers block
honestly, i've never found a single thing in this whole world that always gets me out of my writers block. it's never easy, and it's always different things that provoke it.
sometimes i'll just take an off day for myself, and i'll completely detach myself from the writing. i wont think about it, i wont talk about it, and i wont even open my laptop to look at it.
i'll do a spa day, i'll get my nails done, put on a facemask and watch stupid lesbian romcoms all day. the choice is yours, really.
and i'll read. god i'll read a lot. when i read beautiful work, especially poems, i instantly feel a pulling in my chest to do the same thing, so that maybe i can make someone else feel as inspired as i am right now. it's an amazing feeling, and if you don't do this i would highly recommend it.
sometimes i'll watch the movies/tv shows i'm writing about, depending on your fandom or whatever. i'll look for new concepts, little details to explore and that often helps me find tranquility in my work.
i eat, cook, and sleep a lot during these times. i mostly write at night, so being able to have a nine hour night of sleep is quite the shocker to wake up too. i feel refreshed, and often times it helps me as a boost to my creativity.
all in all, i would try to find whatever works for you. it's important that you realize not everything that i do will work, or even help ypu in the slightest, and vice versa.
take care of yourselves, and happy writing y'all!

Gimmie a plot where two people are placed into witness protection at the same time and end up having to pretend to be a cute married couple living in the suburbs. Give me a hardened criminal who sold out his boss for his freedom having to pretend to be a nice guy working at some cheesy nine to five job. Give me a pure, kind hearted girl who walked in on a murder and testified because it was the right thing and now has to deal with what she’d been through. Give me them trying to play house with annoying neighbors and forgetting their new fake names. It will be so cute and funny and I just want it ok

fuck overly romanticized relationships, give me a plot where muse a and muse b have been dating for 6 years now, they keep holding onto each other but only on a very thin thread that’s just on the verge of breaking. gimme late night fights that resolve but very slowly, gimme nights where the two want to just quit everything but they can’t because they’re all they have left. give me a late night where they struggle to talk to each other in fear of another fight. but also give me a surprise fluffy turning point. give me nights where they can finally talk to each other like the nights they first started dating. gimme partners who are willing to try everything in their power to save their relationship because otherwise 6 years of their life will have been for nothing.

if you are going to exist within the rp community, you need to treat people like people. they are not just someone to write with. they are not just a shipping partner. rping is a hobby, that many of us use to make friends and have fun. but remember that the people you write with are people, their existence should not be dwindled down to just someone to write with, or ship with, or anything. they are real people, and they deserve more weight and depth than just being reduced to someone you write with. if they choose to take a hiatus, or drop a ship, or leave the community, you ultimately need to respect their ability to do that. it is not their job, their duty, to write your uwu beans kissing, cuddling, what have you. it comes down to basic respect.

negative soulmate aus for all you angsts. aka when being together with your soulmate, or having one at all, comes with a cost
only a soulmate can see your scars
you can’t touch your soulmate. you can try, but you physically can not bring any part of yourself closer than an inch away from them. you can be close, but never quite there.
once you’ve met your soulmate, your timer gets a new number it’s counting down to. this is the last time you’ll ever see your soulmate. only you can see your own number.
bonus: you just asked your soulmate for their number, and you realise your numbers don’t match
you have a timer that shows you for how long you have to live. this number changes and mostly estimates based on conscious or unconscious decisions a few minutes after making the decision: driving to visit your grandparents might make the number go to just hours but deciding on the road that no, you have enough fuel to not stop at the gas station you usually stop by makes it go to thirty years. you can’t see the number when you are within 10 metres of your soulmate, so your future is always unknown when you’re with them—and so is theirs.
once you’ve touched your soulmate for the first time, something as small as a poke or a brush of finger is enough to make you feel warm and happy and energised. the negative side effect? you need to be touched by them because being without even a small touch for long enough can and will kill you.
every time you tell a lie, your soulmate gets a painful tally mark scar on their body
you are immortal until the moment you meet your soulmate

@041695 sent a ♡ for a pre-est relationship ft. seunggi & cloudy.
i wholeheartedly agree with u that these two would be hilarious lol. in a way seunggi reminds him of his older sibling with his ‘struggles’ and he doesn’t rly have a good relationship with them ( rightfully so, in his opinion at least ) so i think cloudy’s attitude towards seunggi would be,, condescending af in a petty ‘i’m better than u xo’ way. it would be funny if it’s a one - sided beef too dsfjkh they’d be suuuuper interesting to explore me thinks :eyes:
i want our muses to be: friends | ex-friends | rivals | rivals with sexual/romantic tension | enemies | enemies with sexual/romantic tension | lovers | ex-lovers | partners/coworkers | pen pals/internet friends | friends with benefits | soulmates
our muses met: as children | as teenagers | as adults | just recently
(for romance) our muses’ relationship is: still exciting and lively | stable | starting to feel awkward | in jeopardy | romantic, but the sexual attraction is fading | sexual, but the romantic attraction is fading | toxic and self-destructive | unrequited, with my muse pining after yours | unrequited, with your muse pining after mine | determined by fate
(for rivals) our muses’ relationship is: awkward | fiery | friendly | petty | mostly for show | losing its spark | starting to develop into something more | one-sided, with my muse considering yours a rival | one-sided, with your muse considering mine a rival | determined by fate
(for enemies) our muses’ relationship is: dangerous to themselves | dangerous to others | based on family matters | based on professional matters | based on lies/misunderstandings | unpredictable | passionate | nothing personal at first, but changes with time | determined by fate
(for friends) our muses’ relationship is: stable | sickeningly sweet | the kind of close friendship that makes others jealous | falling apart | based on shared interests | based on circumstance (like school or work) | based on family ties | developing into something more (romantic/sexual) | developing into something more (antagonistic) | determined by fate

@drunkdze sent a ♡ for a pre-est relationship ft. logan & hazel.
you know that trope where they pine for each other for so long only to get into a relationship and realize that they're better off as friends ... seeing as they both share some similar traits, it would require a lot of patience ( of which neither of them has ) and ‘growing up’ for them to work out as lovers fjsdhj but i think they’d be sweet as heck as friends !! mayhaps they’ve known each other most of their lives it’s impossible to just not stay in touch and be in each other’s lives. they never rule out the possibility of them working out one day but for now they insist they are besties for the resties

@lovestrain sent : ❝ look can you just forget about it? okay? yeah i’m in love with you. big deal. it happens. ❞ ft. roel & jeremy.
roel’s revelation threw him for a loop, so much that he raised his hand to stop the other from trying to avoid the subject because it is a big deal to jeremy. “ no. no, roel, you can't just drop a bomb like that and expect me to forget all about it. there’s a lot to unpack here, ” he insisted, eyes remaining focused on roel's as he studied his features. he was waiting for the other to break into laughter and tell him it was all a silly joke, but that didn’t happen and he’d silently cursed at himself that there was a part of him that was hopeful despite the circumstances. did the other know how long he’d been waiting to hear those words from him ? the timing had never been right for them, so how different would it be this time ? “ i just ... why now ? ”
