Please don't ignore my story💔🇵🇸
To our brothers, sisters, and loved ones, condolences, I write these words to you, and I am full of hope in your humanity and assistance. Because I am Mahmoud Ashour from Rafah, I spent my whole life working to build a decent life for me and my family, but after the occupation issued the eviction of the entire city of Rafah, we had no shelter and our lives were destroyed. Our home and store were destroyed, and our hopes and dreams were destroyed
We now live in a small tent that is not suitable for living in a tent. We need a new tent that costs 1,500 euros.

david lynch understood on a fundamental level how abusive and exploitative the world is to those with the least power, particularly women and children. he created an entire lifetime's worth of cinematically and narratively groundbreaking work trying to grapple with that hostility and abuse, trying to reconcile the evil that exists in the hearts of everyday men with the goodness he saw there as well. he made survivors of unspeakable trauma feel seen and known in a way that few artists ever have and ever will, and never once shied away from the truth he knew and believed: that we are all innocent, that what has been done to you is not who you are, and even in times of abject despair, there are people who love you, who will not forget you or stop trying to save or defend or avenge you. i don't want that to go without notice. many people are mourning him for different reasons, and i agree, he was one of the greatest and most imaginative artists to ever be given free reign to paint on a cinematic canvas. but first and foremost, david lynch was an artist of enormous empathy, and i think those of us who saw ourselves in his work because of the empathy it afforded us are grieving particularly hard today.
his memory will always be a blessing.

Dear friends, From the depths of my heart, I thank you for your support and assistance during the darkest times. You were the light that illuminated the path of hope for us when the world turned its back on us. 🫂💚
Thank God, a truce has been agreed upon. I cannot describe our joy at this news; after all this pain, the bloodshed will stop, and the suffering and killing of innocent children and families will come to an end. Finally, we will sleep without fear of being the next target.
But our joy is incomplete, we are still without work or any source of income, without a roof to protect our children from the cold and rain. Our torn tent barely shields our bodies from the harshness of winter, and the exorbitant prices deprive us of securing the simplest necessities of life, such as food, water, and medicine. 😓
We are in urgent need of your continued generosity and support to overcome this difficult period. Every donation, no matter how small, represents a lifeline for us and our children. We cannot face this hardship alone.
May God bless you and your generosity, and reward you abundantly for all the good you have given. 🙏💚
You are the hope that keeps us steadfast.

Have been thinking about killing myself recently but David Lynch dying is a reminder to endure and keep trying to get mentally healthy despite how hard it is and live for art. Lynch has said a lot about art and depression. He said contrary to what people like to say, it was not Van Gogh‘s suffering that made him a great artist, but his love for working on art in spite of suffering. He asserts that depression and suffering are the antithesis of creativity. I think it’s incredibly necessary for every artist to hear this. It’s something I really need to hear when I feel agony over the fact I can do so little at the moment, when people expect things from me or question why I haven’t done more and tell me “I thought you would have done more by now - you used to be such a motivated and creative young girl” (actual quote from my Dad). Personally, Lynch’s wisdom stops me from feeling ashamed of myself, makes me feel really understood and gives me something to reach towards and live for every day.

Something that happened a year or so ago, but that I only found out today: the publisher of the Aarne-Thompson-Uther index has made all three volumes of it available as free PDFs downloadable from their website!
