the very much ao3 buddie traits that are being putting into canon for season 8 so far is very bizarre but also very interesting like what do you mean we have buck going over taking a basket full of baked goodies wrapped in cellophane for eddie, buck clearly letting himself in with eddie’s house key and just entering casa diaz like the third (unofficial) member of that household, buck rummaging around eddie’s kitchen ready to bake cookies for them, buck having no control and always needing to know everything about eddie because there are no secrets between them, eddie getting his buck a cup of coffee for offering to stay and talk to the realtor over houses, eddie and buck facetiming, eddie running around with buck’s phone trying to prevent him from messaging his ex and acting like a middle school boy with a crush, buck going over to eddie’s house post breakup and eddie being in his underwear, eddie and buck both on the couch because couch theory has never been better, eddie caring for buck and helping him care for the boils on his face, eddie waiting bedside by buck after a slipping on the ground at work, buck running over and handing a bottle of lube to eddie, eddie pays buck back from a bet, eddie sucks on a ring pop while staring at buck, buck getting overwhelmed and hearing eddie’s voice to calm him down

New Fic: Promising Light

It's almost midnight, but I DID IT. I hope you all enjoy!

Summary:

Buck and Eddie fall asleep drunk and in separate rooms after the night of Buck and Tommy's breakup. They wake up seven years later, in an unfamiliar future, only to find out that they're married.

Snippet:

Confirming his suspicions, Buck rolls over to face the person cuddling him, breaking the embrace and the more, uh, intimate contact. To his immense and stomach churning confusion, it’s Eddie. Sleepy and groggy, eyes not even open. But still. Eddie. 

Holy fuck. 

“Eddie?” Buck demands. 

Eddie’s eyes snap open. 

There’s a brief moment where Eddie is sort of frozen. Like a deer in the headlights. Then, he goes a bit pale. He looks down at his erection. Then, he rolls back away from Buck like Buck has burst into flames. 

“What the fuck?” He demands.

“I didn’t…” Buck struggles. “I don’t even remember… How?”

This is the first post in a series of three about Buck’s apartment on 9-1-1.

Here we go! Buck’s loft! Right, well, just a heads up, this post is probably going to be more information than anyone other than me would want, because Buck’s loft is maybe my favorite set on the show. It cannot be overstated how much I am in love with it. Which I’m sure will become very clear within a few paragraphs. But anyway, let’s get started!

So, here we have the birds eye view of the floorplan as a whole, both the downstairs and upstairs. At least on desktop, that image is 4k, so you should be able to zoom in and look around at stuff.

Who wants some new shooting angst?

Have you ever thought about how the place where Eddie gets shot looks like it’s downtown? And then thought about how Buck lives downtown? And have you ever wondered how close to Buck’s apartment the site of Eddie’s shooting is?

Well, I have. And now I have a relatively definitive answer: It’s pretty close.

As I explained in my post about Buck’s loft, I feel pretty confident that Buck’s loft is somewhere in the Historic Core, the highlighted rectangular area below. The blue star is the building that was used for his apartment in s2.

The red star is where Eddie was shot.

That intersection is the corner of W 12th St and S Hope St. Which, this isn’t the only time they’ve filmed along Hope St, so it’s a complete coincidence, but like… Come on. Hope Street. That’s so on the nose. (Also, it's actually three minutes from a hospital, so they get additional accuracy points for that.)

Below are some exterior shots from google along with exterior shots from 4.13. And more of my thoughts about the angsty possibilities of this information.

As you can see below, they filmed the interiors at this same location.

The brick building is an event/filming space called Hudson Loft that they built Charlie’s apartment in for shooting. The bottom two images above are from the company’s website.

Anyway, the purpose of all of this, is that now I can angstily envision a world where Buck drives out of his way to go most places in order to avoid driving too closely to this specific intersection. He needs to take The 10 to get to Eddie’s and very likely Station 118 as well, Maddie’s house, etc.

Like, if his place is at that closest corner of the Historic Core?

Or even if it’s at the blue star…

Or maybe he used to always stop at this coffee shop with a 4.8 review rating to get coffee for himself and Eddie on his way to work?

And now what does he do? Does he just white knuckle it driving past there every time? Does he add 15 minutes to his commute so he can go around? Does he set his daily alarm 15 minutes earlier than he did before to account for it? Does he think about it every time he gets in his jeep to drive somewhere, because he has to either account for driving around this new black hole in the middle of the city or, even if he doesn’t because he’s going the other direction, he’s relieved he doesn’t have to, and is therefore still thinking about it?

Additionally, that intersection is super close to Microsoft Theater and the Staples Center (oh sorry, it's called the Crypto.com Arena now, barf). What does that mean for future basketball and hockey games or concerts?
