You do not have to hate Harry Potter because you hate J. K. Rowling, or even because you acknowledge her bigotry.

TLDR at the end.

Specifically this is a post about transphobia, Because that is the platform on which I’m qualified to speak.

You are able to love it (collective HP works) in spite of her (Emphasis on SPITE, A great motive for anything) .

Another great example is the inventor of the little black dress, Coco Chanel, a known (Actual active Nazi spy and therefore also a) transphobe. There is nothing I like better than seeing a trans woman absolutely rocking a little black dress. Take what they tried to withhold from us, and Claim It.

Harry Potter is the same.

For many trans people cosplay was the foot in the door they needed to express themselves for the very first time. It was the excuse they could tell their parents to dress up how they really desperately needed to dress up.

Polyjuice potion and Metamorphmagus and evening transfiguration in general provided the fantasy of changing your body in the way you desired in a tangible and possible way.

The loss of an entire family could be offset by the loving bond of strong friends and new maternal and paternal bonds from kind strangers.

It’s a coming of age story, where a young person is thrust into an entire New World, with new words that didn’t make any sense. For the first time in his life he had a role models. Adults like Him.

You’re not losing Harry Potter by opening your eyes and looking again with discernment, you are gaining a whole new arsenal of things to use against transphobes. 

Rowling’s behavior is unacceptable. But she does not decide how I use the product she has put out. It’s mine now, and I will use it how I like.

It doesn’t hurt me that she feels the way she does about people exactly like me. Because I know that she’s wrong.

And in 2019, Teddy Quinlivan, and openly transgender model, became the new face of Coco Chanel brand. The world doesn’t belong to bigots.

TLDR: Old white women who are wrong are OUT.
