Do you think shinee was supposed to come back last year and made the sudden decision not to? You know because of Onew's surgery?
it’s possible? i know there were rumors that they were supposed to make a comeback around july or august of last year but most people debunked those as exactly that: rumors. i’m not sure how sm works when it comes to planned promotions but a part of me feels like shinee promoting in korea last year was far from the top of their priorities - more than likely because of the jam packed year they had in 2013 and that’s okay. i mean, come on, they went through three separate promotional cycles in korea alone, released four japanese singles, and had a full blown arena tour in japan as well. that’s a big year for them and that’s saying a lot considering how big 2014 was for them as well (a solo from a member, a debut of a subgroup and the comeback of another, their first world tour, a long ass japanese arena / hall tour, three japanese singles, their third japanese album, all of key’s musicals, jjong doing blue night, ect.) i’m sure the possibility was always there and maybe onew’s surgery kind of helped them decide that it was better to wayside a korean comeback in 2014 to give him time to recover? i don’t think it really would’ve been sudden though. it’s been said that it was obvious that onew was in need of the surgery as early as march of last year so any decision to have a comeback was probably axed in the early stages of discussion.but, like said: that’s totally okay. 2015 is gonna be a really big year for shinee again too! jonghyun’s solo, tokyo dome, probably another shinee world tour, a korean comeback, maybe another japanese album, ect. lmao that was kinda longwinded, but tl;dr: i don’t really think a korean comeback was top priority for sm last year. they def treated 2014 like they did 2011 with shinee.
