Kangmin was already sitting on the bed, his arms snug around your waist as if letting go wasn’t an option.

You were perched on his lap, facing him, close enough to feel his heartbeat drumming against your chest.

His shy smile widened when you cupped his face with both hands, thumbs brushing over his warm cheeks before you began pressing feather-light kisses all over.

Each peck made his heart stutter; each giggle that slipped past your lips only pulled him deeper into the moment. He’d missed you so much—missed your warmth, your voice, the way you made the world feel bright even on his darkest days.

“Baby...” he mumbled bashfully, but the way his fingers threaded gently into your hair betrayed how much he adored it.

He tugged you closer, just enough to steal a quick kiss on your lips.

It should’ve been enough, but your soft laughter made his chest ache in that way love does, and he kissed you again—longer, deeper, smiling into it.

The world outside could wait. There was no rush, no need for words. If he could, he’d stay like this forever, hearts pressed close, wrapped in warmth, surrounded by you and your love.

Jeonghan let out a tiny 'ow' as he felt your pinch, feigning injury before smiling again when you pulled him closer, your fingers softly weaving through his hair, feeling lighter than ever.

Just like he always did when he was with you.

"How do I look? Adorable?" He asked, a smile spreading across his lips, examining the different colours that adorned his hair meticulously, on a small mirror on the side before meeting your admiring eyes.

"You look like a flower fairy!" You beamed with joy, cupping his face.

He couldn't help but chuckle at your words, then playfully leaned into your touch, placing his hands over yours. "So, what does that make you? A little bug?"

"Hey! Bugs are adorable..." You shot back, squishing his cheeks a bit, causing him to smile.

"Fine, fine, I guess you are pretty cute..."

He leaned in closer, pressing a soft kiss to your hair. "A cute little bug," he whispered, making you hum contentedly.

You smiled, leaning into his touch, feeling a comfortable quiet settle between you. It was moments like these, simple and sweet, that made everything feel just right.

The campfire crackled, the flickering flames casting long, shifting shadows that mirrored the emptiness seeping into his bones.

His eyes remained fixed on the fire, but his mind was elsewhere, replaying a conversation he dreaded having.

Did it have to hurt this bad?

"Do you really have to go?" Sakuya asked, his voice quiet, barely a whisper, turning to the figure beside him.

You were ethereal, a ghostly luminescence against the darkening twilight... breathtakingly beautiful.

But also transient, much like their unexpected encounter; their time spent together, yet...it meant the world to him.

You looked back at him, your lips parting as if to speak, but no words came. Your hand, delicate and translucent, reached out, hovering inches above his own. They couldn't touch, not truly.

You simply smiled, the gentle curve of your lips unknowingly sending a ripple of warmth through his heavy heart.

Then your gaze, hopeful, lifted to the ink-black canvas above, his eyes instinctively following yours. A million pinpricks of light, each a distant sun, one shining the brightest...

Beautiful. Just like you.

His throat constricted, feeling his vision blurring.

Right. That's where you belonged, after all.

He… he had to let go.

A sudden gust of wind was all it took.

Sweeping through the clearing, rustling the leaves, scattering the embers, the smoke leaving a trail in a ghostly dance. And when it died down.... You were gone. Just like that. Leaving nothing behind.

As if you were never even there.

He looked down, his eyes pricking with tears.

He clutched at his chest, suddenly finding it hard to breathe, a searing pain tearing through him. If only he could have found a way...if only....

But as he looked up again, he noticed that star again, shining brighter than the others, like a beacon in the night...

Calling out to him with a silent promise.

A breath escaped his lips, his gaze softening.

It wasn't meant to be.

Yet he couldn't help but find solace in that thought, realising.

That's right. It wasn't meant to be, not yet.

But someday, one day, he'd find you, meet you again. Years and years later.

A faint smile crept onto his lips, his heart light.

'Wait for me, just once more.'

a/n: this is um... extremely self indulgent. I'm very homesick rn and i just needed some comfort lol. a hug from binnie would solve all my problems ngl.

You snuggled into the arms wrapped around you, savouring the warmth you had been craving all week.

"Pat my head, please."

Hanbin chuckled at your words, his hand coming up to run his fingers through your hair softly, patting you gently while whispering.

"You missed me that much?"

You nodded slowly against his neck, relaxing under his touch, the weight of week finally lifting. "It was so hard."

His eyes softened at your words, his heart aching a little at the vulnerability in your tone, instinctively pulling you closer.

"I hated it. Being away from here, being away from you..." You muttered, tears pricking your eyes at the thought of it.

You weren't used to staying away from home. Even as a kid, you were always surrounded by your parents and loved ones, the idea of being away from them only filled you with dread.

Yet, as you grew up, it became inevitable. You learned to cope, to hide your feelings, but...

That didn't mean it hurt any less.

He knew it too.

"I know." He muttered, his eyes soft as he brushed your hair aside to plant a kiss on your forehead. "But you did it. I'm so proud of you."

You felt his hands cup your face, wiping away a tear you hadn’t even noticed had fallen.

He then smiled at you, a simple gesture but it was enough to make your heart swoon. "It's okay now, I'm here. I got you."

You nodded, burying your face into his neck, letting the tears fall free, not from sadness but from a sense of peace and contentment, calming down as you took in the familiar scent. The scent of him...

The scent of home.
