How Digital Fashion Can Save The Environment
Tumblr media
Fast fashion is notorious for textile waste and extravagant water use. It is estimated 11 million ton of clothes are released into the environment each year. Only 10% of this is resold to charity, the rest piles up in landfills in developing countries. Around 24.56 trillion gallons of water is used for dyeing each according to the New Textiles Economy report.
Digital fashion comes to the rescue by making no waste at all. There will be no fabric or water required. The making of clothes is 100% eco friendly.
What’s more, digital fashion maintains net zero emission throughout the entire supply chain. As there's no shipping, physical usage, thrown out clothes, the amount of carbon footprint on the environment will be significantly reduced.
The only carbon footprint will come from computers used by designers to design virtual clothes. But even this is relatively small compared to traditional fashion. According to DressX, digital garments release 97% less CO2 than real pieces.
Many digital fashion brands also commit to sustainability practices. For example, in 2018, Carlings donated 100% of their revenue to Water Aid. DressX also made it clear on their website to contribute 1% of its income to No More Plastic Foundation.

Can Digital Fashion Replace Fast Fashion?
Tumblr media
The short answer is yes. If you only want photos for instagram or blogs, why not buy it digitally?
Fast fashion contributes to a lot of waste problems. The design, production, shipping, recycling of some shirts can use up to 3300 tons of water and releases 17kg of CO2.
With digital fashion, there is no waste. The only source of carbon footprint is from data to create the designs and fit them on your photos (plus a few cups of coffee to keep the designer alert).
So what's the hurdle?
Some concerns are raised due to the lack of emotional connection to clothes. For real pieces, they can feel the textile and give you a sense of status as you try them on. With the virtual garment, you can only ‘look good’ in pictures.
But it’s important to note digital clothes only replace the ones you don't need, not the ones you actually use. If you are a fashion blogger or IG influencer who only bought clothes for one-time show-off, it might be worth it to switch to digital clothing. Not only will you save tons of money but also prevent unnecessary clothes clogging your wallet.
The innovative design of digital fashion pieces will also give you a sense of exclusivity the same way as high fashion.
For those of us who don't spend all day on Instagram, digital fashion can serve as a virtual clothes try on. Before buying a new garment, we can try them on digitally first, see how it fits and settle down to payment later. This also help to avoid after-purchase regrets.
In the end, it all comes down to your taste and relationship with fashion. Are you ready for the switch?

What is the main cause of plastic pollution?
Hello everyone,
Please read.
If you want to do your part to help reduce plastic pollution, please consider my perspective and share this document.
Through this piece, I will do my best to inform you about plastic pollution and how we can contribute to decreasing it.
With the ongoing pandemic and other political problems, our public is caught up in bedlam. Racism-propelled hate crimes? Back-to-school safety issues? Rocketing COVID variant death rates? Yes. But wait.. there’s something missing. Global warming, specifically plastic pollution.
Even though our motivating environmentalists and beneficial fundraisers including Greta Thunberg, Leonardo DiCaprio, 4Ocean, and Ecosia speak up, we overlook the specter of global warming. We think the world will recuperate sooner or later because people are starting to address it. But not enough people are doing so. We think that with all these leaders acting to help, everything will be alright. That’s what I thought too- before I learned what I will share with you now.
Hundreds of websites and environmentalists say that we should “decrease gum use”, “refuse plastic use”, recycle plastic, “stop buying water stored in plastic bottles”, etc. The solutions listed above are from Oceanic Society, NRDC, and many more. However, we do not need to waste our time on this. Of course, recycling, saving water, and turning our backs on as much plastic as possible may seem like a good idea. Sadly, it’s a lie. In truth, plastic materials only cause 0.03% of all pollution.
The main cause is fishing. Fishing makes up 46% of plastic pollution and trash in the ocean. Some environmentalists refuse to address this, and that’s why so many people don’t know about it. You’re probably thinking, why? Those people are being paid by companies to keep quiet about it.
There are pictures of plastic bottles, bags, straws, and other items killing animals and filling up the ocean. They are evidence that plastic must be decreased in order to decrease pollution.
But don’t you see the fishing nets that strangle beautiful, sleek dolphins and sharks, killing far more sea animals than plastic?
Here are some pictures of a dolphin (top 1), two seals (top 2), a turtle (bottom 2), and sharks (bottom 1):

The picture just above is of sharks laid after being strangled to death from fishing nets.
I will stop at four images. I’m sorry; it’s horrifying. But it’s the only way people will listen.
By fishing, other animals like dolphins, sharks, and whales are “unintentionally” killed too. As you might already know, sharks’ fins are sliced off by restaurant owners in Japan and China because they are considered healthy. However, studies prove that they do not even provide 0.1% protein to humans. Even though sharks are eventually thrown back into the ocean, without their fins, sharks die. Sharks are nearly extinct. See, here we go again... another species about to go extinct.
Adding on to what I said earlier about how dolphins, whales, and sharks are unintentionally killed when fishing, it seems that some people do not kill them by accident.
According to BBC News, Taiji, a town in Southern Japan, captures hundreds of whales and dolphins on purpose. Since whales and dolphins consume much fish, fishers in Taiji kill them so they could maximize their marketing.
The company funding the people who kill the most dolphins, sharks, and whales in Japan is Mitsubishi.

Here are extra images of proof:

Not only do they harm dolphins, but they also exponentially decrease the population of one of the world’s most endangered fish.
According to the “INDEPENDENT”,
Tumblr media
Now, the Pacific Bluefin Tuna’s population is less than 3% of what it was 50 years ago.
We need to stop this- fast. The million-dollar question is, how?
The answer is simple: eat less fish.
After all, fishing is the most detrimental cause of plastic pollution. We need to eat less fish. Hopefully then will those restaurants stop killing these endangered species. We need to help our earth and its inhabitants.
Let’s be real here, even a million people stopping eating fish won’t make a difference.
That’s why I urge you to share this news. (I'll re-mention this in the disclaimer lol but it’s extremely crucial that you do so.)
Disclaimer: I am not writing this piece at 11:00 P.M. for views. I am doing this for our earth. I need someone to listen to my voice. There is an immense yarn of frustration forming in my stomach, and I need you to pull some string and hand it to others. In other words, please share this post and spread the word about this. If you read my piece thoroughly and thoughtfully, thank you so much. I appreciate it.
If you care about our earth, please reblog this post.
Share.

(ok sry now I’ll stop)
P.S. - REBLOG.
Sending love and hope~
Stay safe, everyone.

What makes good writing?
Different people will have different opinions. But I would say the two most important components of good writing are Curiosity & Inspiration. You've got to be curious enough to read as much as you can about a topic and collect relevant ideas during the day. And you've got to be inspired in order to write. The latter depends on what and how much you consume
In terms of the creation, I like to follow Gary Halbert's method:
First, read anything you could find on the topics and take notes.
Then take a few days off. When you feel inspired, start writing. Don't worry about the wording yet, just write.
Next comes the incubation. Let your subconscious mind work on the idea.
Now come back and polish it into the final work.
In addition to the two elements, one rule to keep in mind is to treat writing as a craft.
Writing is not about SEO or making yourself known. It's a craft — an art of selling your ideas. You've got to be good enough to keep readers on the page.
On a personal note, I would say I'm not very good yet. My writing can get really shallow and boring sometimes, but I love the act of writing every day. And thus, I believe I'm getting better.
My goal now is to practice writing faster and better, writing to solve the world's problems, not just for myself.

What is fast fashion?
Fast fashion is the business model of making clothes quick, cheap and disposable. Instead of coming up with their own designs, fast fashion companies create knockoffs of high-fashion designs and mass-produce them at low costs.
In the good old days, fashion only had 2 seasons. This is because the process of designing, producing, and distributing can take a long time to accomplish.
During the late 20th century, fast fashion came to the picture. By applying "the same process as producing meat" to fashion, they are able to cut the fashion cycle down to only a few months.
Here’s how the model works:
First, they see what's hot on social media and the fashion runways.
Next comes the replication of the trendy designer products.
Finally, they mass-produce clothes, see what sells and make more of that.
Through the lens of fast fashion, fashion is no longer fashion. Styles and self-expression are irrelevant. The sole objective is to optimize as much as possible to earn more profits.
