How sweet. Sweeter still, however, was how Jae pressed his hand into his friend's face, forcing him away from his bed with one strong push. Birthdays... He hated birthdays. Especially his birthdays. Call him cynical, but he never understood the merriment in days that marked the progression of one's ever creeping death. That and, oh, right, he hated how annoying Jin was on the 25th of every God forsaken July. "Go away before you wish you had," he tiredly warned. "I mean it."
Walking up beside Jaehwa, his voice was loud but approaching.
"Happy birthday to you."
Creeping over the old, screeching floorboards, he was getting closer, his voice softer.
"Happy birthday to you."
Sitting down beside the futon, Jinho leaned in and like a bat from a ceiling hovered his face over top.
"Happy birthday, Yun Jaehwa—a. Happy birthday to you." He ended the song in a whisper and watched intently, doing nothing but breathing in Jaehwa’s air. "Congratulations. Today, you are no longer an uncle but a grandfather. Do you always sleep this often? Or will you be sleeping more?"

With begrudging honesty, he answered, "well, I'm not gonna die. I think I'll be fine with a little food in the belly... Hey, I promised to treat you. I'm a man of my word if anything."
Jae'd been half-reading the menu before his eyes found her, a brow raised and curiosity peaked. "Exactly." Emulating her smirk, he couldn't help chortle. "You know, pick-pocketing isn't my thing. I'm just in a...tight spot. I'm not exactly some guy who belongs on Citadel's Most Wanted." He lowers his shades an inch. "Are you normally dragged into pseudo-dates with idiots?" Like him- " Interesting... I'm sorry for your luck," he grumbled lowly, sinking into his chair for the incognito effect. "You must be a magnet for misfortune."
She grins. “I like taking people by surprise, what can I say?” she chuckles. “Are you seriously going to order food? How’s your ankle feeling?”
Shaking her head she just smirks. “I like the way you think, Jae. If someone has lots of credits, they should take better care of them. Keep them more…secure. Not your fault they were ready for the taking.”

Electrifying.
tinhtoan & onlyresults.
"You're an idiot. I swear to god, if you're not dead right now, you're gonna wish you were." Jin was heavy against his shoulders, the two trudging on slowly through the hospital. It was sobering, this place; the pale white walls and the tangible brush of forced sanitation prickling against his exposed skin, the smell of illness everywhere. This hellhole always reminded him of death cleverly disguised, and with Jin growing heavier against him - brain probably fritzing, body limp - it made him unusually uncomfortable.
How stupid. Jin told him he could handle the damn hackjob. "Hey, hey, I need help!" Jae flagged a blonde woman down, his hand frantically reaching her arm before giving a violent jerk. Attention was what he demanded, and Jae was a testy man. "My friend's been overloaded. Give him a room now. I'm not waiting anymore! One more second and I'm gonna let everyone here have it."

Tagged by: winteredcommander & tinhtoan [a.k.a. why did you guys tag me when i've been on hiatus? you didn't forget me. -wipes a tear-] Aight, here I go.
Always post the rules. Answer the questions the person who tagged you asked. Write 11 new ones. Tag 11 new people.
Top five positive and negative traits of your character.
Positive: Honest, hardworking, responsible, caring & sympathetic.
Negative: Extremely poor sense of control, brash, sarcastic, rude & blunt.
If your character could change one thing about themselves, what would it be?
To stop being so nice. Like, he doesn't mind it, and he LOVES helping people, but sometimes he'd be caught in a situation where he'd end up going 'why do you always have to be so sweet?'
Like if an old lady is pushing a food cart and he's already EXTREMELY late for work (and about to get laid off for it), he'd stall up some more time just to help the old lady.
Then get fired.
Whoops.
When is your character at their best? Worst?
After his nap after work. There is literally no set day or time for this because he works in numerous low-wage places on different days. Regardless, at the end of the shift, he's a mess of heavy limbs and heavy eyelids and he's gonna NEED a rest. So after a nap, he's recharged, thrilled his workday is over, and is up to gaming or nerding out (but denying it). Maybe even a trip to that one cool diner at the corner of the street?
The WORST is right after work and before his nap. Like... Do you want to die?
What’s the one thing your character cherishes the most?
Companionship. He may talk big and he could seem the type to not enjoy being around others, but that's the thing; he doesn't want a LOT of people, just one steady person in his life is good enough for him, and he doesn't mind if it's a romantic attachment or not.
Item wise, his computer. Don't touch it. He could marry it.
If your character could forget one thing, what would it be?
The pain of losing someone.
Maybe the vivid memories of how he lost his family.
Whichever it is, the memory of his family's death itself is not one he wants to forget about. He always wants to remember them, even that they died, but the emotional pain that comes with it, he could certainly do without.
But he's only human, so he won't complain too much about matters of the heart.
If they could live their whole life forgetting every memory except one, what would it be?
Probably when he graduated highschool and was accepted into college. His parents couldn't pay for his higher-education, and when he'd gotten scholarships and was accepted into a university in North America, they were floored. A child of theirs going to college? Hell yeah!
There was a huge party held. Relatives came over, and the house was filled with delicious food and the static of cracking karaoke. Everyone congratulated him, and they all drank and ate until they were practically under the table. It was ridiculous and Jae loved it.
What’s a song you attribute most to your character?
Lorde: Glory and Gore
The battle isn't very physical though, but the theme suits Jin and Jae in a more cybernetic way.
Do you have any worries/insecurities about your character or how you write? For example, do you fear people may not take your character seriously?
I think people may take Jae as nothing but a self-righteous idiot, someone who thinks he's sitting on a high moral pedestal.
I hope no one does. Jae wants to help people, but he's also really human and has a bunch of flaws, and, more importantly, he doesn't think he's some exceptional standard of human morality. He sees a job and a responsibility to take, and he takes it. It doesn't mean he thinks he's some greater being.
I'd like others to see Jae as someone doing what he thinks he has to do, but despite that, he's just a normal guy with a bit of bite and snark (but he's a guy with a mushy heart, so he can cave pretty easily, albeit pretending that he can't).
Does your character prefer to live in the past? Do they live in the present? Or do they look to the future?
Jae is VERY much a 'right here, right now' sorta guy. In a way, what he looks at right now is also very influenced by the future, but his lifestyle is mostly swayed by the currents of today.
When your character is alone, what do they tend to think about?
Work. Who should I hit next? Who is hoarding cash for no good reason? Who's a greedy bastard that needs to be taken down a notch?
If not that, then, when's that MMORPG coming out? Is it a monthly subscription? How much do I have in my bank account?
Did Jin buy the milk today?
How does your character deal with an ugly truth about another person, a situation, or about themselves?
He accepts it and takes it. Avoiding the truth doesn't get you anywhere, and even if you don't like that truth, it doesn't change the fact that it's there STARING straight at you.
Jae is a very responsible man; he takes everything by the reigns and is content with settling matters.
No matter how ugly the truth, he'll look it right in the face.
If your character were real, would you two get along?
i hope so
> //// ____ //// >
You don't mind if I end this, do you??
The tagging, I mean, lmao.

I'm broke, have 2 horrible jobs, live between the noisy love-struck newlyweds and the old bickering couple in this rundown apartment that smells like 5 day old human decay. I'm a little desperate, but I'll never be desperate enough to want to wake up to see your ugly face every morning. I thought this was about your date. Aren't you even getting ready.

Sometimes I think you keep saying this because you want me to yourself. Is this your true heartfelt feelings? Are you having a secret crush?

You're meeting someone? Wow, do I feel bad for her. Alright, calm down. Do you know anything about her? What's her name? How old is she? What's her job? How much money is she being offered to go out with you tonight?

To: Yun Jaehwa From: Yang Jinho
Who is getting married? Me of course! Me! ME! Why would I invite you? You’ll just sleep through it. I am meeting someone today… I don’t know her customs because it’s blind. I’m feeling nervous. You should help me make it better.

"...hah. Uh, you mean you know because you punch people in the face for a living."
Chewing on the inside of his mouth, Jae said, "but, yeah, I know a place. Come on, I'll show you the spot. Was headed there myself." Walking down the crowded streets under fraying, neon lights, it was an atmosphere that paled in the grandeur of the Citadel surrounding it. Jin, bruised as he was, looked right at home. "So what's your deal, soldier? Had a rough day, and you're choosing to swallow it down with a little booze?" His head turned to look down at her as they walked. "No shame in admitting it. Same here-" if his aching jaw wasn't enough of a damn hint.
"I know because I see people get punched in the face for a living," she chuckled, adding a shrug in at the end. It took her a second to process ‘seeing people get punched in the face’ was not the best job description in the world. But she quickly spoke up before letting his imagination run too wild.
"Alliance Navy: security adviser and soldier," she said, a smile creeping across her face. "I would love to get drunk, really. But I don’t think my Commander would approve. But a quick drink wouldn’t hurt. So if you have to suggest me a terrible bar because of it, that’s fine."

In an irritable mood, it wouldn't have been uncharacteristic of Jae to shove the man back out into the hallway. After all, it was an ungodly hour. But, rubbing the sleep out of his eyes, he could see the blood and the fierce red in Jin's face. He blinked, "...What the hell happened to you?" came the question, the man shutting the door shut. "Your face is all bloody. Did you break your nose? Jin, there's hardly any part of you that's actually you anymore. Can't you be more careful?" Time to fetch the icepack.
Face down, he didn’t see the door open in front of him but shot his head up as soon as he could. Jaehwa looked tired with those 2-hour sleep circles under his eyes and body slouched from interrupted rest but Jin didn’t care about that. Readily charging himself through the door, he couldn’t even take one step inside before he quickly stumbled backwards with Jae’s finger drilling repeatedly to his forehead. He swiped his hand away and cried. “Ay! Is this for real? Are you blind?” he harshly criticized, hiding his face away to shield himself from more pain. The blood under his nose had dried but it was still red, still unbelievably hot and swollen. Jae wasn’t helping.

His brows rose, conveying the image of someone rather unimpressed. Or maybe that was his permanent expression--not his most flattering feature, surely, but a prominent one no less. "I was making sure you weren't dead," he answered with some honesty. "For all I know, you could have been an asari suffering from intense alcohol poisoning after a wild night clubbing." Was that even possible? "Consider me a concerned citizen." Feeling her eyes on him, Jae shifted uncomfortably. "Yeah. It's Jae... Isn't it customary to give your name before asking for someone else's?"
“Yeah, well, I don’t really have many places to be," she said, eyes rolling up for a moment. She leaned back in her seat, mostly just to keep out of arms reach of him, and then crossed her arms over her chest. She eyed him for a moment, and then shrugged one shoulder. "'M not gonna fight you on it. Just don't touch me again, and we're good." She looked to the side for a moment, and then back to him. "You have a name?”
#liselletloak#[ I'm doing well.#Oh god I was out for a gazillion years tho lmao. Well I WAS okay?#Now I'm sorta fighting through the last push of the semester so as you can tell it's a bit of a pain lmao. ]

“I’ve always had a weak spot for a girl with a nice smile and cute laugh. Honest, nice, smart—I don’t have some long, drawn out checklist. Pffft. Okay. Right. I’m not making food for any guy, especially not like that. I’m already taking care of one slob, and I’d rather not double the responsibilities. I’d prefer getting hit by a freight train, thanks.”

One in the morning. Who slept at this kind of hour? Perhaps men who slaved the entire day at a low wage sad excuse for a "job". Perhaps men who worked so hard their bones felt like ash, and their muscles like fire (admittedly dramatic). With a grunt, Jae didn't bother slip on his shirt, opting to save time by yanking the door open instead. With a frown, he dug his finger into Jin's forehead. Poke, poke. "Yah-- Who sleeps at this kind of hour?! Who bothers their one and only friend to the point of driving him away at this hour?! What do you want, huh? I'm tired."
Monsoon Apartment Complex. Jinho walked up to room number 35 and banged loudly on the door, his tender knuckles shrieking and screaming violently up his nerves telling him to stop, Christ, what are you doing? He sucked in the air between his teeth and carefully brought his hand to his nose, quickly yanking it back with a hiss. “Tssh! Hey! Open the door! Who sleeps at this kind of hour? I know you’re awake.”

Ah, so she was alive. Shrugging, Jae looked as though battling with subpar food was more to his liking than conversation, but he soon replied, "at a cafe? Good choice. Your day's obviously going very well then, isn't it?" Slacking his wrist, Jae looked back up to her. "You're sitting in my spot, and I refuse to sit anywhere else, so you're gonna have to deal with company today. Sorry, I don't make the rules. Laws of nature and all that."
The matron sat up with a start at the feeling of the fork poking her through the fabric of her sweater. She hadn’t quite realized that she had dozed off. She drew back a bit, looking a bit unhappy at having been poked, but she doesn’t make any sort of move to get up.
“No, I’m not.” Close enough though, with the rent deadline closing in on her. “I just … dozed off. There a reason you woke me?”
#liselletloak#[ Saw the chance to finally interact with you and snatched it like a hotcake hehh. Hope you're doing well.#Bless you for the open post lol. ]
