Cue Agent Holden Ford’s next death glare: A potential third season of Mindhunter has been put on indefinite hold and cast members Jonathan Groff, Holt McCallany and Anna Torv have been released from their contracts. Exec producer David Fincher’s busy schedule precipitated the move. The show has not, however, been cancelled.

“David is focused on directing his first Netflix film Mank and on producing the second season of Love, Death and Robots,” a Netflix rep said in a statement to TVLine. “He may revisit Mindhunter again in the future, but in the meantime felt it wasn’t fair to the actors to hold them from seeking other work while he was exploring new work of his own.”

mindhunter: season 2, episode 2, scene-by-scene breakdown

#8 - Wendy takes Bill to the same bar that Holden took her.   hmmm, i think Wendy secretly wants to see that bartender again.   Wendy iz concerned that Holden isn’t ready to sit down with another serial killer.   therefore, she wants Bill to take the lead.   becuz if Holden screws this up, Ted Gunn iz gonna re-think his investment. all of Wendy’s concerns are valid – but keeping Ford on the bench iz gonna raise red flags.   if they don’t want Gunn to know about the panic attacks, they gotta put Ford across the table from a serial killer.   and Ted needs to hear the “Serial Killer Whisperer”, Holden Ford, working his magic on those audio tapes. sidenote, Wendy also makes contact with the bartender she’s eye-fucking since her last visit to that shitty dive bar with Holden.   New Love Interest Alert!!   New Love Interest Alert!!   the bartender iz a lesbian.   awesome.   score.   now it’s just a matter of time before Wendy iz back at the bar to make the kill.   HA!!

#2 - in Virginia, Bill and his family attend church.   Nancy Tench informs her husband that some guests are dropping by immediately after the service.   and despite having worked 65-hours this week, Bill iz gonna become a “social butterfly” becuz Nancy bought two coolers of beer.   HA!! bottom line, Bill has a demanding stressful job.   his partner, Holden Ford, iz a lot to handle.   and Bill’s wife, Nancy, adds more stress with unrealistic expectations.   in my opinion, to be the husband Nancy wants, Bill would have to quit his job – and that’s NOT gonna happen.

did Greg really think the FBI – the bureau he works for – could not identify the source of an anonymous package that contains the unredacted Speck interview?   and didja notice how new boss Ted Gunn had NOTHING to say to Agent Smith?   i don’t think Gunn holds Agent Smith in high regard.

mindhunter: season 2, episode 1, Bill Tench

character commentary:   Holden absent without leave, strapped to a hospital bed for a panic attack caused by an unsanctioned visit to a serial killer who was allowed to make physical contact with Ford. that’s it.   Bill just hit his limit.   now he’s willing to cover Holden’s azz for such reckless behavior – but Ford iz gonna get his shit together.   follow Bill’s lead.   and shut the fuck up when Tench says the interview iz done. hmmm, i wonder how long Bill iz gonna enforce this?   becuz sooner or later, Holden iz gonna cross the line.
