I think that people have kinda bought into it for 2 reasons. 1. it solidifies Luigi as an icon of anti-billionaires, he can't be an icon and couldn't have done it, and the people want to rally behind this cause. 2. Overwhelming propaganda. Tbh I don't think he did it.

It's really quite annoying cause like, I love DS9, and the whole point of Section31 is that they're the hypocrisy of the federation, they're the obsidian order, the tal shiar, and a warning that the federation is not immune to what they waggle their fingers at, authoritarianism and secret police are not biological traits specific to certain races, they're points of failure any society could potentially fall too.

AND THEN THEY MAKE THEM COOL, BECAUSE THEY'RE HUMAN SO LIKE IT'S FINE. THEY'RE THE GOOD GUYS. Yeah, the issue with the obsidian order or tal shiar was that they weren't human and they didn't have OUR morals, otherwise they would be fine. /s it's annoying. and misses the point.

Don't get me wrong, it would not absolve him, billionaires should not exist, the world hunger problem is a logistics problem we can solve. but like, do you not understand the level of dick riding he would get world wide? and instead he buys twitter, and is repeatedly mocked by the public, the only people who like him now are far right extremists or brain-rotted tech bros, but he could of had the world.

He could of literally been the guy to solve world hunger, and he said "nah, no thanks" (small edit: the original message was wrong, 6 billion would be able to basically handle it for a year, 40 billion would end it by 2030, Musk has 400 Billion in net worth, the argument still stands)

I don't remember which post said it, but sometimes I think about how Elon Musk once asked "if I were to donate 6 billion dollars to end world hunger, how would I know it would be used effectively?" and the UN basically replied "we have the receipts, the plans and the approach, 6 billion could absolutely end world hunger, you in?" and Elon Musk, world famous egotist with an insatiable need to be seen as the smartest and best in the room, with the opportunity to have the "solved world hunger" title added to his CV... Said no and bought twitter instead.
