The look I throw the charge nurse as I roll in the ER.
Ain’t this this truth?!?!? 😂

I love the term “activate EMS” because I imagine like, at the station, the medics/EMTs are just in a completely comatose state on the couch or whatever and once someone calls 911 they’re just like
“EMS ACTIVATED”

Ran a STEMI tonight on a 32 year old. My youngest patient to have a STEMI. No medical history other than he was a smoker. Craziness

Hi! I really love your blog! I'm training to be EMT Basic but because of college plans, I won't be able to continue an EMS education route continually; I'll have to pick it up again a few years down the road. I'm just worried that I'll have missed a vital window or be "too old" to train. Do you have any advice?
I don’t believe anyone is “too old” to pursue something that they are truly passionate about. I do think though if you are able to work part-time, or for a volunteer department while in school it would benefit you greatly. You may not be formally furthering your EMS education, but you will be learning practical things and information from the field. When you do decide to go back to pursuing your EMS education you will find it is so much easier when you have experience under your belt. I haven’t shared too much about myself on here but I did not start Paramedic school until I was 25. I worked for 3 years as an EMT- Basic prior to upgrading to Paramedic. Those 3 years spent focusing on the basic skills made Paramedic school so much easier. I didn’t have to think about the basic things, it just came natural at that point and I could build upon those skills in Paramedic class. I am now back in school pursuing my Bachelors degree in Biology and work full-time night shift. You can work and do school but it is difficult and you have to want it enough. I hope this helps some. Let me know if you need anything or have any other questions! In the end, as long as you are truly passionate how can you fail?

Y’all please reblog because this is fucking terrifying. It’s yet another attempt to sabotage any attempt at the poor receiving any kind of health care. God forbid you ever get fired and can’t declare yourself permanently disabled.
Make no mistake: people WILL DIE from this.
Contact your reps however you can. Use Resistbot and more importantly, just spread this shit around because I KNOW there’s a bunch of you on here that are directly affected by this.
