Editing Process on Da Vinci Resolve
I rendered the two spaces separately and edited them together on Da Vinci Resolve, also adding some non copyright ambient piano instrumental to give a nostalgic vibe in the beginning and a more fantasy and magical instrumental after going through the portal. I also experimented a bit with some transitions and no copyright sfx such as the clock ticking irregularly and the portal sound and ending drop sound.

Heterotopia / Magical Hallway - Animating Process
This scene was basically a linear walkthrough and I animated a slight camera movement at the end to feel like she climbed up one stair to get a closer look at the magical amulet.

I also animated each of the metallic shapes rotating above the amulet and also the magical glowing orb pulsating in the middle.

Art Gallery - Animating Process
After adding all the paintings, I keyframed and animated the camera movement to look around the gallery. I didn't focus on staying too long looking at certain paintings moreover just taking a glance and a walk through memory lane of the artist's (my) life and some highlights and memories.

Since an art gallery is a very calm space, there isn't much animation per say till she walks to the end where she sees the broken magical hourglass. I animated the clock hand moving irregularly inside of the hourglass as she walks closer since that object itself is a symbolism of time and acts as the teleporting element of the portal within - that later transitions into the heterotopia and the magical hallway/path containing the time manipulating amulet.

Modelling and Texturing Assets - Piano
I was thinking about another object to model but a bit bigger than a small one on a stand and I thought a piano would be a good idea since I've been learning and playing piano for a significant amount of years since my childhood ( 12 years ) and I really enjoy learning it and its the only musical instrument that I can play.
I followed some tips of a tutorial and this kind of took wayy more time than I intended since I went ahead and try to add details to look more realistic but yeah these are some process work ss

The Paintings
Here are some of the 'paintings' with the polygonal style that I included in my gallery. These include special memories with my family and close friends of different stages of my life till now including my first birthday, events with friends, trips with family, sunsets I've captured, food I've really enjoyed and more.

I also included two of my actual acrylic paintings to show my love for art and how it all stemmed from there to the whole concept of an art gallery and how its a main part of my life and the fact that I even chose to study design was because of my love for art.

Adding the "Paintings" aka the "Memories frozen in time" Thought Process
Initially, I contemplated attempting to depict my cherished memories in clipart style paintings. However, I soon realized that this approach wouldn't truly capture the essence of these moments since I did want them to look a bit like actual artworks, and it would also be pretty time-consuming given the time constraint.
Then sparked a better idea—instead of trying to draw these memories from my mind, why not use actual photos? Photos freeze memories in time, just like a painting would do if an artist chose to.
I carefully selected some of my favorite happy memories- some highlights of my life, going all the way back to printed albums to find some of my childhood pictures as well. There were so many to choose from, but I didn't want to overwhelm the gallery with too many and I only wanted to depict certain happy memories and highlights of different stages of my life.
Yet, I still wanted this gallery to be an artistic space with a unique twist, a walk down the artist's personal memory lane. To get an illusion of paintings to the photographs, I drew inspiration from the polygonal art style. This style also adds a kind of blurry but colorful touch to the photos, photographs becoming an array of shapes and having a distinct theme going on- making them look like they were all painted by the same artist, me.

Modelling and Texturing Assets - Fish Bowl
I used to really love having pet fish and I've had fish since 2015 to now and still do, I always adored just watching them and taking care of them. To represent that memory, I made a fish bowl with a low poly fish (since we won't necessarily be seeing it close in the animation)

Modelling and Texturing Assets - Books
One of my main hobbies I really enjoyed doing used to be reading books and it was a significant part of my teen years, so to represent that I modelled a few books to be exhibited.

Experimenting with Lighting in the Art Gallery
I initially used a few point lights around the curved walls to lighten the space. I really liked the curved shadow lighting it casted.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I really liked the vibe but it still seemed a bit too dark and I didn't want another harsh bright light. Instead, I made a cut section of the roof and added an emission shader material inside of it, creating a modern roof lighting aesthetic while also making the gallery and the grass area outside more brighter.

Texturing the Art Gallery
Texturing the elements of the art gallery including the Floor, Curved Walls, Solid Walls, Exhibit Stands, Painting Frames, Gate, Grass
Since Art Galleries usually don't have complicated or very detailed wall textures and such I just sticked to simplistic textures and colors and experimented with lighting mostly.
