3 days in Toca Life World
Tumblr media
Toca Life World is one of my favorite games because it lets me dive into my imagination and create whatever I want. The characters are so fun to customize, you can make them totally your own by picking out outfits, hairstyles, and even adding quirky accessories or pets. I love how I can turn a simple character into a student, a shopkeeper, or even an adventurer. In my case, I chose to be a college student.
This game is like building a little world with characters that have their own personalities, and it’s always fun seeing how they interact.

What I really enjoy is the freedom to create my own stories. There’s no set plot, so one day I might make a story about a day at school, while the next I’m throwing a crazy party at a theme park or going on a vacation to a magical land.

Every time I play, I can combine different locations and characters, which keeps it fresh and exciting. This game is just a chill game without any specific missions or challege, so to me it’s always a fun and creative way to pass the time.

Here is my Personal Statement ✎˖ᝰ✧˖°
Hi everyone 👋 My name is Trang Nhi Nguyen, but you can call me Mina. I was born and raised in the lively city of Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where the hustle and bustle of city life blends beautifully with rich cultural traditions. Growing up in such a vibrant environment, I was surrounded by colorful street markets, historic landmarks, and the ever-present hum of scooters zooming by. It’s a city full of life, and it’s where my passion for art and design began.
From a young age, I loved to draw, even though I often felt like my skills weren’t quite where I wanted them to be. But that didn’t stop me. I found joy in every sketch, every doodle, and every attempt to capture the world around me. This love for drawing naturally led me to explore graphic design. It was like finding the perfect match. I could combine my creative ideas with the challenge of making things work beautifully and seamlessly for users. It wasn’t just about making things look good; it was about creating experiences that people could enjoy and connect with.
Right now, I’m majoring in Culture and Design Management, as well as Information and Interaction Design at Yonsei University. Studying here has been an incredible journey, allowing me to dive deep into the theory and practice of design while exploring how it intersects with culture and technology. I’ve learned that design isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s a powerful tool for communication and connection. Through my studies, I’ve become even more passionate about creating designs that are not only visually appealing but also meaningful and impactful in people’s everyday lives.
Outside of my academic life, I’m an avid traveler. I absolutely love exploring new places, experiencing different cultures, and, of course, trying all the delicious foods along the way! There’s something magical about being in a new city, soaking in the sights, sounds, and flavors that make each place unique. Whether it’s wandering through the ancient temples of Kyoto, getting lost in the street art of Melbourne, or savoring street food in Bangkok, every trip is a new adventure and a chance to gain fresh inspiration for my designs.
Music is another big part of my life. I’m always up for a good concert, and there’s nothing quite like the energy of live music—the way it brings people together and creates shared memories. I think music, much like design, has a special way of connecting people, crossing boundaries, and evoking emotions that words sometimes can’t capture. Whether it’s a massive festival or an intimate acoustic set, being surrounded by music and fellow fans is something I truly cherish.
Photography is another hobby that I hold dear. I love capturing moments—whether it’s a breathtaking sunset, a bustling city street, or a quiet moment with friends. Photography allows me to tell stories through images, and it’s taught me to look at the world differently, paying attention to the little details that make each moment special. It’s a lot like design in that sense; every element matters, and it all comes together to create something that resonates with people.
Despite my enthusiasm, my journey in design hasn’t always been smooth sailing. There have been moments of self-doubt, especially when comparing myself to others who seem more talented or experienced. But over time, I’ve learned that creativity is a journey, not a destination. It’s okay to not be perfect, and what matters most is the willingness to keep learning, experimenting, and growing. Embracing this mindset has helped me overcome challenges and continue pursuing my passion with an open heart and mind.
Being a student of Culture and Design Management and Information and Interaction Design at Yonsei University has given me a deeper understanding of how design can shape our world. I’m particularly interested in how design can make a positive social impact, whether it’s by making technology more accessible or by creating user-friendly interfaces that can help bridge gaps in communication. I believe that good design is about more than just looks—it’s about making a real difference in people’s lives, and that’s what I strive to achieve in my work.
As I look towards the future, I’m excited about the endless possibilities in the field of design. I’m eager to explore new ways to combine my love for culture, technology, and creativity to create designs that not only look great but also serve a purpose. I’m committed to using my skills to contribute positively to the world, whether it’s through a beautifully designed app, an engaging user interface, or a thoughtful piece of graphic art.
My journey as a designer is fueled by my love for creativity, my cultural roots, and my curiosity about the world around me. I’m driven by a desire to create designs that connect with people on a deeper level, making their lives a little easier, a little more beautiful, and a lot more enjoyable. I’m excited to continue learning, growing, and exploring, and I can’t wait to see where this journey takes me next. Whether it’s through pixels on a screen or sketches in a notebook, I’m ready to make my mark in the world of design, one creative project at a time.
