Why do some trans people love AGAB so much???
Just saw somebody call themselves a “masc nonbinary (AFAB)” for a makeup tutorial. Like did we need to know your AGAB for that? If the point was to show the audience how to do masculinising makeup, then why not, “how I use makeup to enhance my masculine features as a masc nonbinary person.” Like why AGAB.
No shade to that person, it’s their identity, but I guess I’m just tired of the general shift from “I won’t tell you what’s in my pants” to “are you a boy nonbinary or a girl nonbinary?” “intersex AMABs can’t be transmasc,” etc. and seeing even nonbinary people identify themselves by their AGABs feels indicative of the larger issue.
:(

can we stop pretending like it’s so super easy for trans men to pass. “oh just put on a baggy shirt and cut your hair-“ it literally doesn’t work like that and I refuse to believe you actually think it’s that easy

crazy how people assume trans guys dont know if we had short naturally coloured hair and a basic style we'd "pass better." "you want tips on how to pass? no more fun piercings, jewelry, anything feminine, dyed hair, nail polish or nice things for you!" thanks but I choose joy and whimsy x

if you're waking up like me thinking "where do we even go from here?"
you:
build community & involve yourself locally
learn self sustainability skills
choose kindness
protect others & yourself
join or build a mutual aid group and/or network
find time for small joys (the arts, cooking a meal you love, spending time with loved ones, etc.)

I don't think the idea behind TME/TMA is bad at its core. But I do think either one of two (or both) things need to happen.
Create better terms - If these terms are only to be used in a way that exclusively refers to those primarily *targeted* by transmisogyny and the larger culture war bullshit, there must be more specific acronyms to convey this. Such an exclusive term doesn't have 0 use cases and could be very useful in discussion. TME/TMA are terrible for this purpose. Transmisogyny affected is too broad. Most if not all trans people are/can be transmisogyny affected. By trying to make TMA exclusive based on transfeminine only identity you are denying that transmisogyny actively harms more than just transfeminine people, especially when the word 'exempt' is used in its antonym.
Use TME/TMA by their actual definitions - As in, allowing individuals to self-determine whether or not they have been affected by transmisogyny, and label their experiences accordingly during conversation; as opposed to restricting it based on identity & AGAB, which is very much intersexist and ignores the nuances of queer lived experiences.
And in addition to either/both of these, there needs to be a shift away from labeling individual people with these terms that are meant to be nothing more than discussion tools, not identity labels. Like. I don't have "intersexism affected" in my bio. Nor do I believe intersexism can't hurt perisex people. Very few things about any of this have simple answers. Let alone easily categorizable binary answers.

This is a reminder to:
Never mention a possible pregnancy/abortion to anyone, especially not through a social media app messaging service such as messenger, WhatsApp, Instagram DMs, Snapchat, etc.
Delete all period tracking apps and to start tracking using a planner or physical calendar
Book appointments for a form of birth control if possible, or to always carry condoms for yourself and other
Look into sterilization options if that is the route you want to go down (here is a list of 1000 doctors willing to sterilize you without a fight)
Protect your fellow person, protect the women in your life, the queer people, the disabled people, everyone will be affected by this
Form communities. Tell your people that you love them. Protect one another. Check in on one another. None of us are alone.

Regardless of how tomorrow goes, I want to tell every trans person on here one thing.
You have to live. You have to live. Even if by some godforsaken reason he wins, you have to live. You have to keep pushing on and living loud and proud. It might be hard, but you absolutely must live.
We will do what trans people have done since the beginning of time. We will resist. We will find our communities and we will thrive, even if it has to be in the shadows. We will live and we will resist no matter what comes tomorrow.
Get out there and vote!!! Ensure a bright future for yourself and your brothers and sisters!! GET OUT THERE AND VOTE BLUE DOWN THE BALLOT!!

(grabbing your face) do you remember simon fairchild's statement about how he became an avatar. how he fell and the sky embraced him. i think about it all the time. how it would feel to be embraced by the vast. the entity that is about how you are insignificant before the endless void, holding you. the fact that being an avatar of the vast means loving a contradiction: you are insignificant and the entity of the vastness of everything else holds you in its embrace and takes away your mortality.
i wonder if when simon told that one guy enjoy sky blue if the reason he laughed while saying it was because he was sharing his own joy. if in his own way he wasn't being generous, sharing the experience that changed him forever. i wonder if as much as he spreads terror, maybe what he really wanted was to share that experience, and that's why he picked someone who loves sky-diving, someone who was also in love with the sky.
i wonder if that guy who was eaten by the sky isn't out there now, saying the sky held him gently in the huge jaws of endless blue, and he cried with joy as he understood. if what for his mother was a horrible experience that killed her son, for him wasn't the liberation from his mortal life and worries before the realization that we are nothing.
i wonder if simon was afraid, too, before he was in love or while he was in love with it, if he can even distinguish his love for the vast from his fear from it or it's just another facet of his adoration, something he can offer to it, if when he said he loved the sky he meant it like that, like we often love a god, with fear as strong as our adoration.

I want a relationship that is completely undefinable by any existing labels or words. Like, we're so close and we hug and kiss each other's foreheads and cuddle and travel and explore together, and we get along so well and have so much in common. But at the same time, our relationship isn't fully romantic or fully platonic; it's a completely separate, open-to-interpretation thing that we tweaked as needed, and we have our own boundaries and things we are and aren't comfortable with, and we respect each other in every way, shape, and form.
