Very beautiful statues of Buddha's and very tall and magnificent Stupa. Walked 3 times around and made my wish!

Jet Setting soon #throwback
In a week, I'll be off to USA, land of Donald Trump. Of course, it is all for business. Looking forward to it?? Not really... Dreading it?? Maybe... This business, Medical Products, is a huge market for Americans. They are big for it because of health consciousness and fact that they are too protective and sensitive of their bacteria and others. As such, anyone can produce good medical product with good quality at a cheap price, Americans love that! Not that it is a bad thing. Means Americans are just costs and price conscious. They buy in big volumes. So makes sense if they look for cheapest. Anyhow, 3 weeks trip gotta be good for relief. A sort of short break with some flexible work. I'm dreading it because the week that leads up to it is filled with tight schedule. The worst, is the night before. A company dinner organized on last minute feeling by the boss. Ridiculously done because of whatever reason. There were of course senior executives that earlier informed of earlier commitments, were all ignored. The night before I fly, for weeks of traveling, would of course best be spent with my family, not spent entertaining boss and his wife. Ridiculous!

Selfishness
Generally, it is defined by how important is your personal/own matters in comparison to another beside you. Should your matters always take precedence before others, then yes, you can be considered selfish. In this world, I have seen aplenty people, all of which contained/possesses different characters. Some are pleasant, some are horrible. I have seen people that are selfish, they care only about their wealth, or how much is left of it. Of course, if we are talking about this subject, only rich and wealthy people have this issue. Though there are some, only handful, that are kind and generous. For me, selfishness doesn't get you anywhere. For some, no matter if you are the children, or grandchildren, they can still practice selfishness. It is very sad especially when parents/grandparents are those that puts their own wealth, ego, and self esteem on top of everything. Yes, ego and wealth has a lot to do with selfishness. They are the essence of why people have to protect their own interests so another person cannot grab it so they'll have lesser. For some, they have been so accustomed to being at higher status and level than others, if someone doesn't serve them or polishes their ego, they get offended and ends up having hatred. It is because these ("unpolished") individuals put their own self interest before others, that they end up creating hatred and disharmony between all. This is selfishness. My advise for some of these individuals out there, let go of your ego. If it is harmless and doesn't show disrespect, forget it. You will leave this world in a wooden bad called coffin, you will not be able to carry any of your ego or money away. The hatred you created when alive, will return to haunt you in your next life. If your idea is for people to serve you just because it is your belief for them to do so, then I wish you all the best in afterlife. You will suffer more than you can imagine. All I can do, is leave your sight and reach. There is nothing you can do to me. You are as worthless as a bad influence. Please take your ego and money to your grave, you are not the greatest, not even near. You lack even basic human respect and compassion. Who are you that I need to bow?

Damaging Office Politics
I work in an SME. It is neither small nor big. It has a workforce of about 700. This company is a little diversified, covering 3 different divisions, spanning from exports to local market. It has its own factories, logistics, vessels, etc. Under Management Team, we have more than 10 strong men/women that covers different functions and heads different business units. I am one of them. In all my years of experience, meeting and seeing companies of all sizes, big and small, local all the way to MNCs, gave me the perspective that I need to determine whether or not a company is ran properly, with proper systems or skills. I have few personal thoughts to this. #1: A captain of the ship must not mix emotions with common sense. As a leader of the company, it is very important, in my knowledge, to be able to manage and lead the company in such ways that only benefits the company. Presumably the leader has a very high salary or takes a portion of the company's profit, this is a major motivation to watch for the success of the company. He/She must never play politics, never encourage it, and never practice it. It will never be easy to be a leader that is respected by all. A leader is always going to be a human being, governed by nature of ego, emotions, and a particular dislike. Running a company using your ego will only damage the company further. Not being able to choose a good successor will also be detrimental. Now, herein lies the trick. If you like people who only follows your instructions and do what you want that person to do, you must be thinking that you are in an army, and that you are a General. In business, there is no war, there is only win-win. Wherever the company may be heading, it will solely depend on the leader's perspective. If you are able to see it clearly, then you are a good leader. For leaders who have a clear mind, thank you for being a professional boss. For those that is unable to separate ego from logic, go see a psychiatrist. You clearly have some issues that you may not know. #2: Encouraging arguments and disagreements in the company is bad for health. I mean poking another manager's weaknesses or mistake to another colleague is bad leadership. When you bring up weaknesses or condemn mistakes done by one of your staff, to another staff, it gives that person unwarranted confidence and feeds to his ego. What happens after that? He or she will think they have the backup of the boss and starts to act differently. As this practice continues, he/she will always be saying the right thing that the boss wants to hear, be it condemning the boss' enemy or playing puppet to the boss. This is not good. And he might be doing that for his personal benefit, without thinking of the damage being done to his colleague. He/she will live in this different dimension that is a bubble. Office politics, in my perspective, only exists if the bosses practice it. Lower subordinates do not have the power to practice this, unless warranted by the top. For those having bosses like this, you have 2 options, stay and do your job irregardless of what's happening, or leave. There are many bosses out there who are kind, unbiased, sees you for what you are. Find them. And them take care of them and their company. You'll sleep better at night. #3: Things get more difficult when family is involved. Imagine, if you and your sibling is part of the company's management team, and both of you have no problems with each other. Then comes the boss, who in the beginning also is not biased. Things changed when the boss' wife starts to poke fire, saying, "he's not doing this, he's not doing that, he's not helping me do this, etc". She worries people are taking advantage of her husband or his wealth (indirectly her wealth). As a housewife, she has all the time in the world to create fictional events or intentions in her mind. Doing so for longer periods of time, the boss also relents in, and starts to buy her ideas. Then brings this feeling into the company. Things get worst when the boss' wife is someone who is very clever at "manipulating" thoughts. She will no doubt have her favorite in the family, of course, her words and actions will all be geared toward that. The other son, left hanging, to be shot like a siting duck. I see this happening often, when the boss of the company is not able to differentiate fact and fiction. Real ability and "fictional" ability to run the company. I encourage people who are in this situation, and if you are siting on the losing end, to leave. Find your own way out, find your own survival. Life is too short to be engulfed in this small, insignificant brawl. It will only bring unhappiness to everybody. #4: Never bring in big company's policies into a small company without the business to support it. Where did I hear this from? Jack Ma, founder of Alibaba. For people trying to duplicate large multinationals' style of operations onto smaller companies, may find that they have trouble implementing it. This is because, as a small company, you tend to run it yourself, not understanding the concept of delegation and accountability. Even in the event you do understand, you probably do not have the resources, or proper manpower to do it. Very simple reason, because you will not employ someone from Harvard or MIT or INSEAD to head your business division purely because you think it is unnecessary. Whereas, larger companies, have the money to employ such people, pay them and give them the budget to implement these ideas. Smaller companies simply do not have the budget to implement life-changing ideas or strategies. They follow their owners, who is unknown to big investments or radical changes. They prefer short cuts and trying out their lucks. Small companies should be run like a small company. Without barriers, without egos, without boundaries. It should be run as friendly as possible. This is how you gain loyalty. Some people know this, but when company grows slightly larger, they lost track of it. Blinded by their successes, unable to look back. Advise for people running businesses - look at the size of your business, then run accordingly. Never try to be somebody you are not. Never try to compare a small car to a huge Hummer. It is different. #5: Devil is in the details. Whatever that happens, do not take it literally. Look at the underlying meaning and causes. Nothing happens for no reason. Being a good boss, means being able to see this. My thoughts are purely subjective. They may be right, they may not be. However, these are the views I see coming from meeting so many people.

Constructive Criticism
I commented on a company’s existing poor management styles and what did I hear? I was being asked back “how about yours?” “Did the company you were running did well?”
I was very suprised!
Would expect a company that has more than 3 decades of operations and money making business has a better, more organized method of running a business. Its staff of more than 20 years themselves not willing to accept new ways of doing things. Only dead end is in front.
