Louise is 9 months and she has been a breeeeeze. Adrien and I still don’t know how we lucked into such a good, sociable, well behaved kid. Everyone always gushes to us how calm and friendly she is, especially in new situations and with new people.
She is literally a dream baby and it is funny because Adrien’s brother and his girlfriend are always like, ‘Damn, she set the bar so high.’
Also, babies are so much more fun at this page than in the very beginning but I do sometimes miss how tiny and immobile she would be when she was just in my arms all day cuddling. She’s always on the move now and trying to play and explore -- already leaving me behind ;(

Adrien discovered Pearl Jam radio on Sirius today
Me: *gets in car*
Adrien: I finally found a great station to listen to!
Me: I thought you told me you didn't know who Pearl Jam are?
Adrien: I don't.

We are going to Belgium in 9 days! Ah!
I am pretty anxious about flying with Louise but I also am trying to think positively and hope that she will be sleeping most of the trip since our flight will be around her bedtime.
We are trying to pack lightly since we will be gone for only 2 weeks but I haven’t a clue what ‘packing light’ with a kid means... an afternoon out alone entails 4lbs of ‘stuff’.

Louise is so close to being able to crawl. I am terrified about what comes next. It’ll be a brave new world.

Every time my friends ask me about Louise there is a 68% chance I'll end up talking about her poop.

She keeps grabbing the iPad while I try to record her. She is so hard to control now. It is only gonna get tougher.

Anyway, Louise is 5 months old today! Adrien and I can’t believe it. She is getting so big 😫
His mom is visiting in 4 days and it is going to be so great to see her again. I want to go back to my mom’s but we have been there already a few times and Loulou really hates the drive, I don’t want to stress her out again especially when we are going to be flying to Belgium in less than 2 months… Maybe I can find a decently priced flight to Toronto instead.

Adrien and I took Louise to the park with his brother so they could play basketball and I witnessed such a sad/shocking thing. There were several women and their children already at the park as some sort of play date type of thing. The children varied in age from about 3 to 8 and two of the older girls were biracial (black/white). Their hair was a matted mess. It looked as if no effort had been put into their hair for at least 2 months. When they were leaving they went over to one of the white women who I assume was their mother and she stood them in front of her and inspected, for lack of a better word, their hair. She looked like a prison guard checking new inmates for lice, all she needed more were gloves and a gun.
I don’t know about you guys but as a kid with afro-textured hair, I never once had my mom pick through my hair after playing at the park ever, let alone in front if my friends and their mums.
Idk, maybe I am overreacting but it left me feeling some type of way. Mainly angry. There is no excuse for the state of their hair. We were at a small local park so I am guessing they are from the area and we were only 15 mins *walking* from a street that has about half a dozen black hair salons if neither she nor their father are inclined to do their hair themselves.
The other (white) children didn’t have their mothers pick at their head to check for whatever she was checking for so I am still confused over that. It seemed routine though as the girls stood one behind the other as soon as they were called from their playing as if they expected it. How sad.

The past two months have been amazing. I was just at my mom’s house and I want to go back as soon as I can but she told us to slow down on the travelling between TO and Montreal, especially since we will be going to Belgium in June and I still want to go to Michigan to see my dad as well. Don’t want to overwhelm Loulou.
She’s teething I think! She has been drooling a lot and putting anything she can in her mouth for a while now but she has started rubbing her face and one of her cheeks goes red sometimes so I am guessing it is that. She almost in her second week of 4 months-hood. It all goes by so fast :(
The weather is warming up and I am so excited, I have so many cute outfitsI want to put her in. I was trying to clear out some of er stuff in her room and I found some clothes gifted to us that we didn’t even get a chance to put on her that she has already outgrown. I felt a bit bad about it but we’ll just save everything we never used for another kid or give it to one of our friends if they have one before us.
She’s sleeping on me at the moment... I said I would stop doing this when she was 2 months. Yikes. There are so many things you say you won’t do as a parent... but then you always do them.
