Storyline for the ATEEZ Kingdom Stages (So Far: ep 1-5)
It’s stuck in my head, so we are putting it here. I expect maybe 2 people to be interested in this post lol.
Alright! So after this week’s episode, I realized that ATEEZ was not only connecting their stages, but they are doing the same thing they did with their music videos were the story is being told in reverse. My theory for why we see the stories in reverse for both the music videos for the treasure eras and these stages is because of the timepiece, the hourglass; Hongjoong clearly and purposefully turns it upside down, reversing the flow of time. For why? I’m not sure.
So we started with the end; the intro stage was clearly after a battle of some kind.
Looking at it chronologically with what we have,
1. (Rhythm Ta)
ATEEZ, the agents of anarchy they are, break into a facility, presumably one belonging to an oppressive government that seeks to repress creativity, art, and emotion.
Tumblr media
Clearly we can not stand for this. After their successful infiltration and recruitment, Hongjoong makes an impassioned speech to the world to rebel and they send out a propaganda blimp (which is my favorite thing in the world rn, gimme one) to spread the word by throwing out pamphlets.
Tumblr media
As he is doing so, we see HALATEEZ aka FAKEATEEZ (pronounced like Socrates) stealing a timepiece.
Tumblr media
Is this from the same facility? We actually can assume so; in the opening shot, we see similar pieces being stored in the facility:
Tumblr media
We don’t know how he got there or why he is stealing it. What we do know is…
2. (Wonderland)
This stage starts with FAKEATEEZ Hongjoong taking this timepiece to Captain Hongjoong. Notably, the crew takes no notice of him, which I am not sure means anything but is interesting.
Tumblr media
Captain Hongjoong, in a very decisive move, flips the time piece upside down, setting time to flow backwards.
Tumblr media
Why? Well, he has a plan for him and his crew; they are going to find a new world, a better world, to belong to them. He rallies his crew to this course just before they encounter trouble; a boarding skeleton crew and their kraken.
Tumblr media
After fighting this invading crew and destroying the devil octopus, the weary ATEEZ crew emerge victorious but injured as…
3.  (Intro Stage: Wave)
They are being chased by more than one force.  Beaten down and apparently crash landed somewhere, we see ATEEZ fall.
Tumblr media
But they stand up against this threat, supporting each other (literally, did you see that pyramid?!) and carry on, reigning ever victorious in their quest.
Tumblr media
I can’t wait to see if they continue to build on this story or if this is the end of it. If you have any differing opinions or other observations, let me know! I love to talk about stuff like this!

[SPOILER] Analyzing ATEEZ's performance on 'Kingdom' - a revolution in stage performance
On April 29th, the second round of the Kingdom Competitive Show, this time titled Re-born, once again captivated the eyes of K-pop fans around the world.
In this episode, each group had to cover a song that they had chosen from their rival group. ATEEZ, who ranked first in the previous round with the judges’ votes, came on stage with exciting music from iKON, “rhythm ta” titled “The Awakening of Summer.” Today I will analyze a part of the performance.
At the beginning of the performance, the issue that catches the viewer’s attention is the eye image that is displayed as a background. An announcement is seen on the table in which art, dance, and music are prohibited. We see a gramophone with a red band on it as a sign of prohibition. Does the eye shown at the beginning of the performance mean that people are being watched, or does it mean that they’re under control? Simultaneously with these scenes, a sound is heard announcing :
“there is a disease in the heart of man, the disease is human emotion.”
It is interesting to know that this sentence refers to the movie “Equilibrium”! An excerpt from the film states:
“After WW3, those of us who survived knew mankind could never survive, so we have created a new arm of the law to seek out and eradicate the true source of Man’s inhumanity to Man. His ability to FEEL.”
Tumblr media
Maybe the reason for art, dance, and music prohibition is to prevent the awakening of human emotions! Then the scene changes, and we see ATEEZ in the van! A scene that is very similar to one of the sequences of the “money heist” series. Does ATEEZ also intend to break the norm?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It is amazing how meticulous ATEEZ is in presenting the details! So that in one scene, we see Park Songhwa checking out his nails while in the same sequence in the money heist series, the character of “Tokyo” is fixing her lipstick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the next scene, a logo catches our eye! Anarchism! This logo can be seen from different angles of the stage. Anarchism is an ideology and movement that opposes all types of involuntary, coercive hierarchy and is skeptical of authority. Does ATEEZ  call for the abolition of a state that prohibited music, dance, and art? We will answer this question a bit later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the van stops, we see ATEEZ wearing masks; Masks that symbolize emotions in the theater. If we connect this part of the performance with the “money heist” series, it seems that ATEEZ wants to release what seems to be “art”!
Tumblr media
In one scene, Wooyoung tore a newspaper which is written on it that “the central government defined the black pirates as a terrorist.” It is fascinating to know that according to ATEEZ’s history, black pirates are actually called the norm-breaking version of ATEEZ, better-known as Halateez, which first appeared in the “Hala Hala” music video. The publication of this news in the newspaper could be due to preventing people from joining ATEEZ and thus silencing their feelings.
Tumblr media
We see dancers dancing with their hands tied! Hongjoong opens their hands, and Seonghwa takes them under his control.
Tumblr media
ATEEZ’s norm-breaking does not end here! At the start of the rap part, Hongjoong puts on headphones. The dancers dance around him, while according to the announcement, music, dancing, and any kind of art are forbidden! A complete picture of anarchism!
Tumblr media
But the culmination of this performance is when other members angrily remove their headphones! They seem to be tired of the words that were instilled in their subconscious!
Tumblr media
Members encourage other people on stage to come around the podium behind which Hongjoong is standing! He seems to have something to say! ATEEZ’s young leader Kim Hongjoong starts talking in an epic way:
“People! Open your eyes for our lives! Keep your mind! Now is the time for freedom if we try! Listen look write! OPEN YOUR EYES!”
What caught my attention as a K-pop follower was ATEEZ’s ability to evoke different human emotions. The facial expressions of all the members well reflected the concept they intended to convey.
Tumblr media
The combination of the amazing ability of this two-year-old group to sing and convey these emotions while dancing attracts the attention of every viewer. In addition, we see that ATEEZ challenges its members more than anyone else in this performance. The ability of members to read different notes and synchronize with the storyline offers this film-like performance as a new standard in the world of K-pop. Those interested in watching this performance can watch it through the following link. Your feedback can help me write thousands of articles and analyze them. Hoping for the success of this talented group.
