Artback Cafe in Wentworth- Annie’s Market Day

One of our favourite places to have a delicious coffee and a bite to eat. We visited yesterday as they had a lovely market that’s only on twice a year. Beautiful handmade items, plants, roses, jewellery and artwork. The sun was shining and it was a truly wonderful day.

Fresh organic fruits and vegetables in Mildura

Clove Organics Shop & Cafe is a place I often buy my vegetables and fruits. It’s run mainly with volunteer staff who are really friendly and helpful. They also have a Cafe and are open for breakfast and lunch. The coffee is beautiful. Some of the vegetarian options such as Zucchini and rice fritters are delicious. The Veggie soup and sour dough toast is also lovely in the cooler months.

Simplicity works and is effective

When thinking about creating points of interest in our home and in the garden, I find simplicity works really well and I'm certainly not into clutter. This feature of succulents on an antique wooden table outside is just one of the examples.

A room where all my creativity happens

There is lots of time spent in this room coming up with designs and working hard. It is my special place which looks out on to my blooming vegetable garden. It is a lovely quiet spot to channel my creativity.

Our delicious tomatoes from our veggie garden

We have been so grateful this year for our delicious tomatoes. There is nothing quite like the smell and taste of your own home grown tomatoes. I’ve been making simple pasta dishes with the tomato and herbs from our vegetable garden. Such a pleasure!

Eating meals here is a pleasure!

When we were deciding on furniture for our dining space we wanted a round table that fitted in with the feel of the home. We had this table custom built. It’s lovely to look out to our outdoor area when we sit with friends and family for a meal.

Our upstairs lounge

Our upstairs lounge that looks down onto the lower living area is a wonderful spot to sit and read a good book. It is filled with light and is very spacious.

It’s amazing what a new coat of paint can do and how polished floorboards can really lift a space! We removed old concertina doors and replaced with large wide doors. I love the picture of the man in the bowler hat at the end of the passage. Wonder where he is off to?

A lovely spot for a cup of tea and the paper

My husband and I enjoy reading the newspaper and a cuppa when we get the chance on weekends. We are always so busy during the week, it’s such a lovely spot to sit outside in our courtyard and take a break. One of the joys of living in Mildura is the great weather and now that Autumn has arrived we are looking forward to sunny days without the heat!

In our light filled kitchen, I always love to have fresh flowers displayed. They give me such pleasure. Here is a photo of a recent arrangement of Lily Pily, next to my gorgeous green mixer.

Look what's in the cupboard!

We decided on using our valuable space wisely and put the washing machine/dryer and laundry tub in a cupboard in the main bathroom. It’s a great space saver.

We are a husband and wife team who have a passion for renovating. I’m an interior stylist and my husband is a qualified builder of 35 years. We have been working together renovating homes for 25 years. Houses are our passion and they are like old friends. Even as a child, I loved all my primary school friends houses and I could sit down and draw them even now!  It has been so rewarding upgrading this home to meet the 21st century!

We are putting our much loved Mildura house on the market and we are excited about moving closer to family but will still be sad to let her go.

Built in 1963 a midcentury gem, with very few of it’s kind in Mildura. We really enjoyed renovating our beautiful home.   Our house is listed with Barry Plant Mildura

Luxurious sleep, don't we all need it?!

I've mentioned it before but our house has a real peacefulness about it and it's very quiet. Sleep is essential as we all know and I must admit to getting a great night's sleep in this house! The bedrooms look out on to the courtyard, which we love.

When thinking about the courtyard and what to plant, we consulted our local nursery. They recommended ornamental manchurian pears and a Forest Pansy. Here is the Forest Pansy we planted, like all new plantings, you wonder what it will look like when it’s bigger. The following photo is one we sourced to give an indication it’s beauty in the future.

Trentham Estate Winery and Restaurant- a fab spot on the Murray

We both love going to Trentham Estate Winery and Restaurant which is a 15 minute drive over the river in NSW. It's a magnificent spot right on the river and the wines are gorgeous and so is the food. We love to celebrate special occasions here and wish we got over there more often.

This lovely Park is right across the street

This park is just metres over the road from our home. It has lovely shady trees and a great playground for children. It's always well maintained and the grass is always green. Ruby our dog enjoys a gentle stroll with us in this park.
