Spending the morning thinking about butterflies and making a bunch of these little guys. Maybe I’ll turn them into a garland or something but for now they’re just a way to process emotions

THINGS DON'T ACTUALLY HAVE TO LINE UP TO LOOK GOOD

CUT THOSE PIECES FREEHAND

IF ANYONE TELLS YOU TO HIDE YOUR TAILS TELL THEM WHERE THEY CAN PUT THEIRS

MANY TYPES OF QUILTS; ALL EQUALLY WARM

UPHOLSTERY FABRIC LOOKS SLAY BUT DOESN'T DRAPE THE SAME. BE AWARE OF THIS AT LEAST.

AT THE END OF THE DAY WE'RE ALL MAKING QUILTS TO LOVE THE PEOPLE WE LOVE AND WRAP THEM IN OUR LOVE AND KEEP THEM IN COMFORT

THIS SHIT WILL LAST A LONG TIME ACTUALLY. THERE'S FABRIC ON THIS PLANET THAT HAS AND WILL CONTINUE TO OUTLAST US. FILL EVERY FIBER WITH LOVE, JUST IN CASE.

Flagging

This quilt was created because I wanted to make something undeniably queer, and something other than a pride flag (which are nice but sometimes lack the vibe i get being in community). It's inspired by the hanky code and all the amazing queer men who I've learned from over the years. For a block choice I couldn't go past a bear paw, which I personally feel is the gayest block (and not just because I am one ;)).

As is only fitting it will be a gift for one of the people who taught me so much!

i also found an old fleece blanket to attach this top to, so now it's all done! this quilt was a lesson in humility and accepting mistakes, which i needed very badly but i did NOT want... so if you zoom in on the details and see something wrong i know and i have chosen to accept it!!

I made my first quilt! I accidentally flipped one of the squares, but that's okay!

My cat has already claimed it as his own blanket. How cute!

Another baby quilt is finished. This was quick to sew (one big panel plus border) and I am really happy with the quilting.

Finished this quilted pillowcase for my sister’s verrrry belated birthday present!

The pillow backing was a white bedsheet that I dyed myself with random bottles of Rit dye I had leftover from a failed project that I did some improvisational mixing with lol

I just realized I never posted the finished version of my latest quilt! This was a gift for a friend and I'm super pleased with how it came out.

Pattern is Modern Art from Fabric Cafe (a 3 yard quilt), fabrics are Full Moon by Dear Stella (and chalk texture for the background)
