Owen (Hart) didn't die due to a heart problem likely brought on by the excessive steroid abuse; he didn't overdose on the popular combination of alcohol and pain pills; he didn't die by any fault of his own. Owen James Hart died because he was a company man, a pawn in a ratings battle that had already been over for a long time.

In my mind, no one man is bigger than (the sport of pro wrestling), but if there is an 'icon', it would be a man who had great ability inside the ring and professionalism and maturity outside of it. Let's leave all the petty, backstabbin', "I-make-more-money-than-you" BS with the hat check girl and concentrate on talent and attitude. The Undertaker, Ric Flair, and Steve Austin have never claimed to be icons, which means they're big candidates to be just that! And on a personal note to Hulk Hogan: You are a household word, but so is garbage, and it stinks when it gets old, too.

Well, Brian Pillman was a friend of mine. From the time he was born with throat cancer, he had the courage to undergo thirty-six different throat operations. He had the courage to withstand the punishment of pro football and ten years as a pro wrestler. He had the courage to come back from a car wreck that shattered his ankle, and a lot of other personal tragedies. And then one night, he went to sleep in a hotel room.. and he died.

When I was growing up, I had three channels and I didn’t know what happened in the Philippines instantly if it happened. Now you can be on the internet and find out what’s going on in Zimbabwe. It’s changed. Life has changed. Society as a whole has changed, so obviously the ((WWE's)) product has to change in order to keep up with that... We are doing a year long program right now with The Rock and (John Cena). If Rock were there every week, how are you going to fill that? You were able to do it with (Randy Savage) and (Ricky Steamboat), because there was only an hour worth of TV every week. People don’t look at the broader picture a lot of the time.

I think to an extent ((promos are too scripted)). I think you can tell the guys that do adlib. I was happy with the fact that I was one of those guys and (Chris Jericho) was one of those guys and (CM Punk) is one of those guys. The guys who are good at it - you can tell. I do also think that there’s always that little bit of rose tinted glasses. People look back so fondly on it, but if you look back at some of those promos and you almost wished that they could have had someone to reign it in, because a lot of them are rambling and nonsensical. [Interviewer brings up The Ultimate Warrior] Man, like ‘What’s going on?’ But here’s the thing, the programming changed. Okay, so when I’m growing up there’s one hour on Saturday mornings to fill. There’s a whole lot more content to have to fill now, so now you have a lot more speaking. There wasn’t such a thing as a ten minute promo before. There wasn’t. That wasn’t the case. It would be a quick cut back to (Mean Gene Okerlund) talking to Sid Justice for 45 seconds.

It's so hard to find a hero - anywhere. I was proud of The Hitman character; he fought for the right causes and he spoke up, he told the truth. He always fought so hard. I loved being a hero to people around the world. You think of India, where these kids show up and waited for a whole afternoon for me just to come to the school - they couldn't believe it - it was like a god coming to the school. They really believed in you and they really loved you. This is real, this is something you can never buy.

((Steve Austin and The Rock)) wanted to leave it all in the ring and they did.. and the audience ate it up - and so did I, as a fan.

I think ((that ECW's rise)) was a testament to the work ethic of the wrestlers on the roster -- I think the extreme nature of the matches helped, I think Benoit and Guerrero helped, I think the storylines helped, I think the street credibility helped, and I think the audience helped. We brought the Luchadores into the country. We introduced cruiserweights. We introduced the shoot interview. There were many different things that we brought to the table and they all contributed to the success of the organization.

I think honest Eric Bischoff is a work onto himself. I think he works himself into believing his own opinions most of the time. I think Eric Bischoff can deny that the sun is coming out tomorrow, that's just how Eric is. Listen, he has to live with himself. I don't have to live with him. He has to deal with who he is every day of his life and I think that's a tough enough bargain on its own. He has to wake up and be Eric Bischoff tomorrow. Isn't that bad enough?

Ever since I first laid my eyes on The Dynamite Kid, I've tried to emulate him. I've tried to look like him, walk like him, and talk like him. I'd spend time in my bedroom, throwing punches and kicks at the bed, pretending to be him. I started lifting weights at 13 ((years of age)) to try and clone myself after him. He definitely lit a fire inside me that still burns strong today and that is the passion I have for professional wrestling.
