Does Eren's question mean that he has a cruch on Mikasa?

Mmm, I’ll try to explain how I read the scene.

Short answer: No, I do not believe Eren has a crush on Mikasa and the scene, albeit presented in a romantic light from Mikasa’s pov, it was not on Eren’s part. Same as usual, I’d argue.

I will expand on this under the cut, but I just want to reiterate that this is just my interpretation, as one of the anons said, and I am aware everyone is free to have their own, even if they might puzzle me. You are free to disagree, but please don’t send me hate messages.

Upon reading the chapter the first time, I didn’t feel romantic vibes. It was actually quite tragic and disappointing for me to see one of my favorite characters (Mikasa) completely misunderstand my favorite character (Eren), in spite of how close they are supposed to be. I was so depressed and disturbed by the whole chapter, that even if I read it at 5 AM and I could’ve slept another 2 hours before having to actually wake up, I just laid in bed restlessly, absolutely depressed. I even tweeted about it lol.

Anyway, I was pretty busy that week, and only later I found out most people interpreted the scene as Eren being in love with Mikasa. It was a shock for me. It was literally the opposite of what I personally understood.

Let’s first talk about Eren and where his mind is in this chapter.

I felt discomfort and anxiety throughout the whole chapter. I am a pretty empathetic person, so I realized why I was feeling like that only later, after rationalizing chapter 123: Eren’s memories (which we know are horrible and gruesome and depressing) were being triggered the whole time he was in Marley and it was disturbing to watch.

He looks distressed and uncomfortable. His gaze is often unfocused (or, well, not focused on the present) and he is constantly spacing out - Armin notices but doesn’t seem to care or understand why. Honestly, it is cringe-worthy seeing Eren’s friends’ behavior. They should know what memories Eren has of this place. I do not know if anyone reading right now is familiar with triggers and what they do to a mind affected by PTSD. It’s enough to know that you feel like suffocating because you are fundamentally battling a panic attack and you ideally would want to get away from the source that is triggering you. So, imagine being in a situation you can’t escape from and everything is triggering your worst nightmares. Literally.

Even here, I’m ashamed no one in canon (and almost even in the fandom?) realizes or bothers to be understanding and careful, even when Eren makes a disturbing comment about it. Mikasa admits to it when it’s all too late.

I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I wrote the original post on this matter. We got much more information about Eren now, and it’s about time that I make an updated version.

Isayama put a lot of development into Eren’s character during the first 5 arcs. While Armin and Mikasa didn’t get that much development in certain arcs even though they are the main characters, Eren’s development was in central focus in each arc. It showed us that he cherishes and loves his friends, and that he values each person’s life. Levi quickly realized this after meeting him, which is why he formed his new team with Eren’s most valuable friends, because he knew that Eren would work even harder to protect them.

But many people seemed to forget who Eren really is. Everything that Eren has done post timeskip contradicts his earlier development.

After this chapter, I’d like to see Mikasa beat the shit out of Eren and knock some sense into him. I can’t stand to see what Eren is becoming.

Remember the courtroom scene where Eren is told that he tried to kill Mikasa, and was completely confused by it? You think it was latent feelings that the previous host of his titan had? And now that he’s older, they have surfaced more?   But nonetheless, fuck him still. Fucking brat. Girl has saved his life multiple times and he lets his small dick energy do the talking.

Damn, Eren looks exhausted, sluggish or even depressed in the panels before he gets vicious and i don't know if it's the weight of what he was about to do or some feeling of despair or betrayal. Isayama-sensei never ceases to amaze me.

I heard someone say that Eren’s thinking is “the new basement” and I Iove that analogy. It’s been 22 chapters since he’s had a thought bubble. We see what he’s doing and hear what he’s saying, but have nothing to understand what he’s thinking. It’s frustrating and fantastic to see such an emotional character become an complete enigma. Isayama is a master at holding mysteries close and Eren is the latest of those mysteries.

News: Bessatsu Shonen January 2019 Issue & Tankobon 27 Alternative Cover

Kodansha editor Kawakubo Shintaro has released the cover of Bessatsu Shonen’s January 2019 issue, featuring Eren, Mikasa, and Armin! This issue will contain SnK Chapter 112. Thoughts on Mikasa protecting Gabi

I feel the whole situation wasn't out of love for Gabi but rather fear for Kaya. She's been in the exact same position in her age, a little girl full of rage seeking vengeance (and she had a knife, too). What happened to Mikasa when she was Kaya's age changed her for the worse. Yes it helped get stronger but left her bitter and stole her innonce at young age. No matter how bitter she felt towards Gabi, she didnt want Kaya to have to go through the same situation. She wasn't protecting Gabi, rather Kaya's innocence.

Kind of makes you think if Mikasa regretted killing those men then.
