Background:

Mijoo was always very musically inclined, so when her high school held a talent show for idol scouts, her parents strongly encouraged her to try out. A variety of agencies attempted to scout her. Due to some complications and confusion, Mijoo was supposed to be auditioning with JYP, but was instead grouped with BigHit’s audition pool. After auditioning and becoming a trainee at BigHit, she met Wooyoung and Yeosang. Mijoo is an introverted person and, at the time, didn’t have a solid grasp of Korean. Wooyoung noticed that she kept to herself a lot and decided to befriend her. This resulted in her meeting Yeosang and becoming great friends with them. When they practiced for performances or in general, the three tended to stay in their group. The three of them were tough competition and quickly adapted to their trio. However, BigHit was wary about the three of them being placed together as idols. Eventually, the trio ended up getting an offer from KQ where they would be part of a nine member group, including the full trio.

Mijoo is fluent in Japanese, English, and American Sign Language. Currently she is near fluent in Korean.

Wooyoung started the nickname Boomi because she used to be a very clumsy dancer. The nickname stuck around.

Mijoo is banned from playing any Mario games because she’s EXTREMELY competitive and has gotten into huge arguments over them.
